This has been answered in multiple places, as well as the knowledge base. You ARE NOT USING THE RIGHT VIDEO DRIVERS.

Mesa+Tungsten = builtin open source drivers.

If you are using an NVIDIA card, you need their proprietary driver. (nvidia)
If you are using an ATI card, you need their proprietary driver. (fglrx)

Go here, follow the instructions specific to your card and try again.
ENVY GFX Installer

Also, check the knowledge base, as well as the threads here.

It's also worth noting that the Cegeda test of using GLXgears is stupid, GLXgears will run if the Mesa 3D libraries are properly installed. Ergo you'll see the gears but the game still won't run.

The best test is to open a terminal and type: glxinfo | grep direct

If you see "yes" it might work.
If you see "no" it ain't.

Also, Intel IGP solutions seem to promise much in the way of 3D but don't deliver the umpf required; they'll do beryl/compiz and such but not a lot else as it seems to use bits of the chip for some stuff and software for others.

I got a yes when I opened my termanal yet for some reason my 3d accelerator keeps failing.... my specs are
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 430 @ 1.73GHz
1002 mb
Tungsten Graphics, Inc
Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM 20061017 x86/MMX/SSE2
1024 mb video ram
1.3 Mesa 7.0.1 driver
the rest works fine

It seems to be a common thing that the Tungsten/Intel drivers aren't providing complete, native 3D acceleration. They're bouncing off of mesa for some stuff, on-chip for others...

Yet it still reports direct rendering capable... (which it is) and freaking out things like Cegeda's testing (and my own diagnostics).

I think the situation is if you have an Intel IGP solution, its not going to work in Linux due to the drivers :(
