I think its high time that players were rewarded for showing their LONG TERM loyalty to EvE.
Many other games do this and the players really appreciate it.
My idea would run something like this-
A player signs up for the game and 12 months later he receives an Eve Mail thanking him/her for their support. The player also is allowed to immediately raise one of his skills currently at level 4 to level 5. Or, the player could be given a free attribute point to add to one of his attributes i.e. Perception is 12, they can raise it to 13. Obviously a cap would have to be placed on how far attributes can be raised this way, say a cap level of 25 before implant additions?
I'm not advocating a reward of isk using this system, but I would not be against a player receiving a certificate from one of their factions officials stating they have served their faction for how many years etc. I'm also not against the idea of the player perhaps receiving a rare implant mod or something along those lines.
Oh, and why we are at it, could you also put on a major in-game event at least once a year where us players could get involved in something really galactic? I'm thinking along the lines of something like the Babylon 5 film 'ThirdSpace', perhaps the EvE gate activates for a week and hordes of 'alien' (original human) ships pour through and it takes the combined forces of all the games factions to repel them?
Just an idea.

EvE is not like other MMO's In most MMO's you reach max "level" in a few weeks and from then on you are only grinding for gear.

This would be the reason for 12 month loyalty gifts.

EvE on the other hand has no max level, I have no idea of what the max skill time of the game is however I think I recall it having been 15 years a coupple of patches and thus skillbooks back.

I am an old player, came on in 2003 and I have payed ever since and I can honestly say there is no need for such bonuses.

Fester, dont you think that making sure players stay the course so to speak by rewarding them for staying loyal to the game makes sound business sense?
The very fact that the ability to max level's in EvE will take 15 years even with the current skill base, let alone with future skill additions, may make some players just give up and seek out other games.
What I'm saying is this, reward those players like you who have shown loyalty to EvE for the last 4 years, and hopefully new players will stick around for just as long.
This is especially important at this time where there are at least 3 other space-based MMOG's just about to be released, we all know what happens when this happens (lots of people up and leave to try out the new kid on the block).
Remember, EvE is not a single player game, its only successful as long as it has players like you, and me, who are prepared to show their loyalty to it year on year. All I'm asking is for a little recognition for my loyalty.
Is that too much to ask?

"Reward" systems are put in place when the game itself is not enough to keep people playing. Eve is not in that situation.

Long term players are here because they like the game. They don't need a reward system to keep them from leaving. The game itself is the reward.

I'm the first person to agree with those who say don't make the game easier for new players. I've been playing EvE for nearly two years now and I was jumping up and down when they gave all those nice skill points to new players when it took me weeks to attain the same level.
All I'm asking for is a little recognition for the loyalty I'm showing to the game. Hell, I'd be happy receiving a message from CCP every 12 months thanking me for my support. Its the personal touch that counts.
