My friends and I were doing a level 2 mission. We jumped in via a gate and were immediately set upon by 3-4 destroyers (which we were able to kill) and at least 5 cruisers and a battlecruiser. Their missiles were killing us while ours were doing like 10% normal damage. Our guns were doing the same - almost no damage. Any suggestions ?

I was flying a heavily shielded Moa with 2 heavy launchers, and 2 dual 150mm compressed railguns. My target was at 20km and yet my weapons were doing lik e 20 damage per missile and less than 10 damage per railgun hit.

I know either our tactics or weapons (or both) must be wrong as 4 cruisers should be able to handle the mission. We were unable to even kill 1 enemy cruiser before we lost a cruiser and gave up. Help ...

Make sure you are using the right type of damage on the rats. Different faction rats are weaker/stronger to different types of damage.

I have this problem on certain ships also, I have no idea what to do. I use 2 heavy MLs and 3 assulte ML. I used every missle damage type I could use and none did even close to 50% of what a missle damage normaly does.
Only ideas people gave me were to use a different damage type ><

A major part of missile damage is based on signature radius of the enemy, speed of the enemy and your own skills. Very rarely will a missile achieve it's potential full damage, but all those factors, plus resistances, reduce the damage you do. (Guns are also affected by those things, but in a different way.)

The best options available to you are to find the weakest resistances for the NPC you're facing (based on if they shield or armour tank: so if they're Blood Raiders they armour tank so you want to look at their weakest armour resistances (EM and Thermal) and ignore shields), use target painters to increase the signature radius of the enemy ship, and use stasis webifiers to reduce their speed.

I have seen a chart showing what damage types rats use but not one showing what they are weak against. Can someone toss me a quick link ? Thanks

Thanks.. Thats going on my cheat sheet !! hmmm I think we were fighting Pith-something-or-other.. I don't see them on your list.
