Here we go again,

No offense, no "rabble!", no complaint BUT....

When a dev says "Here we go again", it's time to panic Laughing
Well, my job is to get information to you guys, but I'm getting as tired of this as you guys do, the rest of CCP is getting tired of it, and we all want it fixed. All I can really say at this point is that we're working on getting it fixed.

I am sure, because your team is a dedicated one Confused. If you are really tired, virtualize your storage, make your shared disk resources really redundant (by using synchronously replicated boxes) and present them to the crappy WIN/SQL cluster (no offence, but this is the reality) as SINGLE virtual volume. Then GET RID of the generic Windows MPIO drivers (They really sucks!). This way you will have NO single point of failure, extreme scalability and NO problems with the quorum disks / shared resource when one of your boxes / HBAs / SAN switches / patch cords / whatever / goes to hell. Ah, and by the way, don't use same model / vendor storage boxes for the synchronously replicated storage, because you could run into a situation with hitting the same firmware bug twice. Just take a breath and think "Would it be possible to get advice from a customer of ours?"...

P.S. M$ SQL Server / Win 2K3 make my life miserable quite often in RL, but unfortunately not with games, but with banks, airports etc. Sometimes it is scary...

Hi,
Thank you for contacting customer support.
I checked our logs but regret to inform you that we are unable to verify your loss in our logs as being abnormal in any way, because of this we are unfortunately unable to reimburse your ship. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and wish you a speedy recovery.

I can't believe how ****y people get on the forums in times like this. A new player who didn't know better would think this kind of server trouble was a common occurence from reading all this *****ing going on.

Good luck on getting it fixed. People should stop trying to blame CCP for this, they're not directly responsible because it's not like they've spilled their coffee over the server or something. Like Wrangler stated, they're getting sick of it as well and they're doing everything they can to fix it and prevent further crashes.

Actually they should send someone down to the server room with a mug of nice hot coffee (or even better coke) and pour it on to the array... then go running off to the CFO with an urgent request for a new array - when he asks why tell him its fubard beyond repair and show him the (hopefully) still smoking bits.... (just don't admit to the coke). Tell him the smoke is magic smoke which makes the chips work and when its release the hardware is dead.

Just for the record, no sense deceiving the newer people, it is a common occurance when they patch/update. Sometimes are better than others, but there is always problems right after a patch/update.

Yes stuff happens and hardware faults are out of CCPs direct control...
But the problem is the last 6 to 8 weeks a lot of 'stuff' has been happening.

I've been playing for over a year now (with different chars) and this is easily the worst fews weeks I ever seen.

I've had a series of connection and dis-connect problems ever since Rev 2. I never
saw these before. Some days recently it's taken 5/6/7/8 attempts to login.
I get the 'loading bulk data' sulk. I've cleared my cache, again and again.
I tried using another machine. I get in then get thown out after 10/15 mins.
I remember times, not that long ago, where I played for hours at a time without
a single glitch.

CCP may not be to blame for all of the problems but they have to accept
responsibility for all of the problems.

a customer base whinier than any proper users,
you still give out detailed technical details of what the problems
as someone who has worked in the IT industry for the last 13 years you guys deserver a fricken medal.

just go back to your previous error messages, they're simpler and easier to understand by the unwashed masses.

Actually that's incorrect. A number of exceptionally large companies run windows products in HA architectures. Although I will grant you that there is more software out there that is *nix based that supports HA solutions natively.

And you seem to be implying it isnt? Laughing

Division is mostly along the line of what were you doing when it went down. If you were in a fight, mission, under sentry fire, in mid warp to god knows what, with drones out etc etc, you'll be ****ed. If you were in station rotating your ship and browsing market, you'll say.. well what you did. I noticed it on myself really. Server is, after all, going down often enough for me to see myself taking it differently according to the situation. Laughing

Only if they start releasing patches that are like "Added super-dee-duper important... ummm... Exclamation point to... errrr.... some mission... text? Ya! That sounds good." and it's the 12th patch they've released this week. Wink

We're not blaming anyone else for this and I'm sorry if anything I posted, or someone else from CCP posted, has given you that impression.

We're doing our best to fix it, right now there is a plan that's being executed and once that's done we're going to start the server again, we hope this will make sure the server stays stable.

I agree with you, but it seems nobody is interested in technical discussion...unfortunately.
I am pretty sure that there quite enough top-notch HA experts who play EVE and I wondering why CCP don't make a contest for submitting technical designs for improving their system architecture...I am sure many people would help them free of charge.

I had to watch the pic three times and it still made me smile.
I wonder if they will do the customers any good? And give us compansation somehow, and dont say free patches are a compansation, They get paid 10 per player per month. Id say thats enough.
