Wrangler,

There must have been some power grid changes to the Sacrilege that have not been listed. The previously working 3 laser, 3 heavy assault missile launcher load out I had working prior to the patch now doesn't seem to work.

This doesn't seem to be listed in the patch notes. It seems quite a significant loss of about 86-100 power grid (after skills).

Was this planned/expected, or is this a buggette?

The load that used to work is listed as follow, just for working reference to see for yourselves whatever change may have been made to power grid that wasn't listed:

High Slot Modules:
3 x Heavy Modal Pulse Laser I
3 x 'Arbalest' Heavy Assault Missile Launcher I

Mid Slot Modules:
1 x Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners
1 x Target Painter II
1 x X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
1 x Cap Recharger II

Low Slot Modules:
2 x Medium Armor Repairer II
1 x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
1 x True Sansha Energized Thermic Membrane
1 x Capacitor Power Relay II

from the dev blog in the patch notes:

Sacrilege (Heavy Assault Ship)

* Hardpoints: 5 launchers (+2), 4 turrets (no change)
* Fitting: 400tf (+50tf), 1030mw (-70mw)
* Sensors: 260mm scan res (+25mm), 50,000m max targeting range (-10,000m)
* Propulsion: 205m/s (+30m/s), 12,000,000kg (-155,000kg)

Bonuses

* 5% bonus to Heavy Assault Missile damage per Amarr CC level
* 5% bonus to armor resistances per Amarr CC level (no change)
* 5% reduction of capacitor recharge time per HAS level
* 5% reduction of missile launcher ROF per HAS level

The improved speed and mass helps getting the ship in close, though it remains slightly worse than for the Zealot. The armor resistance and capacitor recharge bonuses allow the Sacrilege to field a very hard tank, which helps it to compete against blaster ships (with its relatively lower damage output).

Much appreciated.

im very angry about CCP. I feel cheated.
I tested EVE about 3 days, encountered i cant handle an industrial while in trial period.
So I signed up, just on Monday. Everything went fine until this patch came out.
Im a Linux user! I bought cedega+EVE to have gaming pleasure. I melted about 40.00 EUR for nothing.

I tested arround with cedeaga and with wine. The entries in the prefs.ini do not work!
Im very sorry, but if CCP is not going to act on this soon, then Ill close my account just after 1 day gaming pleasure.

Tanks to CCP!
I hope you wont shrug your shoulders on this, I guess there are many linux gamers, which feel exactly the same like me on this.

I hope to hear about this soon.

CORRECTION

While Linux is not currently an 'officially' supported Operating System we work with our partner to try to ensure that EVE works with Cedega. Unfortunately most of our efforts recently have been on testing the new officially supported client and other issues crept through.

Trangsgaming are working on a patch for the issue which should solve the problem. Wine users can do the following as a work around : you can disable the sound and voice via the prefs.ini file.

make sure the following lines are in your prefs.ini file

audio=0
audiodriver=0
voiceenabled=0

The last line should be in ALL Linux client pref files as EVE Voice is not currently supported under Linux.

I hope that this answers your questions.

Got a funny, looked on the list and it could be there in the map section but cannot decide. Thought id bugged it last night but cannot see my bug log???
So, if you are interested, its a graphics thing on jumping gates. When you jump through you can see for a split second the rings of the solar system map. I did a log thingy, its at home. If you want it let me know somehow.

Some nice features, thanks for the improvements. A couple of issues though:

Crystaline crokite now has the wrong icon attached - its the compressed version not the raw ore!

Scan probes STILL pick up the cosmic anomaly sites, thus ruining the entire point of putting them in a different catagory, i.e. searching for unknown sigs is still poisoned by the presence of the encounter sites.

I'm told the corp wallet divisions still have problems - a petition is on its way from the BRUCE trade people properly explaining the issue.

Love the features that do work so far - the damage bleedthrough onto mods will make thing interesting...

yeah, theres two explosions for one ship going down , btw , is there a way to leave only ship comp voice on and switch off the rest of sounds, space is supposed to be silent after all ....

Thank you Kalindra, I found it in the Dev Blog, but was just strange it wasn't listed in the patch notes like the other ship adjustments to CPU/Powergrid. Smile

And after waiting and waiting they still can't fix the f***g avatar not being displayed on the forums... :( How is that for customer support even after creating several petitions...

You can also maybe add this to your buglist... The wallet mouse over most of the time doesn't display the correct amount and a different one than your actual cash amount.

Cosmic anomally's show up as unknowns on multispectral probes but are not detected by other probes. Imho, this is worse than before since there is no fast to tell if your just chasing an anomally.

You can detect them using other probes by selecting the "Cosmic Anomaly" group

Yeah is almost pointless, have just very limited usage

Dev's could change so, that if the targetted ship have more cap than u, than the drained cap is transfered to your ship, and after this NOS working like neutralizer, so drain cap from enemy ship, but dont give to your own.

What u think?

I'm still confused when it comes to the multispec probes.

One minute we are being told that its by design the next we are told there being looked into!

Can we please get some claity here - When you scan under "Cosmic Sig" NOT Encounters (i thought I would confirm that) and u hit an unknown are we looking at an encounter or NOT?

I hope that this answers your questions.

Unfortunately this is NOT the only fatal bug that currently exists. There is a bug in the loading of the lib.ccp and stdlib.ccp libs in the lib directory that has been around a while.

If you do a ls -lU and stdlib.ccp comes BEFORE lib.ccp the client will stallout and silently crash on the splashscreen. The fix for this is to cp lib.ccp to lib2.ccp, lib3.ccp on and on until you get ONE of them to come before stdlib.ccp. I can only theorize that EVE is loading all the libs with a * instead of loading them in a designated order causing this problem OR that they are loaded at different async. and that on slow drives the dependacies get screwed up because one is not totally loaded in before the other references it.

There are multiple threads about this issue, and it has persisted for quite some time now.

Although I applaud CCP for working with cedega to wrap the game so that its playable in linux, I'd much rather see a native game.

The last numbers (from Microsoft) show that only 8% of windows users are currently using Vista and of that 8% some of them have the basic edition that does not not allow DX10. CCP is currently working hard to develop a DX10 client for less than 8% of the playing population. Based on the screaming and moaning on these forums I'd hazard to guess that the linux population for EvE (not in general but for EvE which seems to be higher for some reason) is above 5% and maybe close to 8%.

I'd like to see a poll of somesort to see just how many of us are using linux. (I know there are a ton of us.. jsut look at the cedega forums in the EvE section... and all those people are paying $5.50 a month to use cedega ontop of eve.,.. .that doesn't even include the larger subset of wine people!) Maybe if the percentage is high enough CCP might rethink being stuck in proprietary 3D engine :) (like WoW did).

For people who have CRC issues with their tut2.stuff file we will be hosting a copy of it which can be downloaded here. If you are experiencing the issue during the patch process, you can:
  • Delete the tut2.stuff file from the EVE client folder (by default it is C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\tut2.stuff).

  • Download the zipped tut2.stuff file.

  • Upzip it to the EVE client folder (by default it is C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\).

  • Launch the client and auto-patch to TQ.

  • Note that the fix above is not applicable if the client build number is 25245, instead you will have to follow the instructions below.
If you are experiencing the issue (tut2.stuff and common.ini) after the client has been patched, you have to:
  • Delete the tut2.stuff file and common.ini from the EVE client folder (by default it is C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\tut2.stuff).

  • Download the zipped tut2.stuff file and common.ini.

  • Upzip the two files to the EVE client folder (by default it is C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\).

  • Launch the client and connect to TQ.

Anyone reading this thread would think everyone running the patch is hozing their game. Not true. I've updated two clients on different machines and they both worked fine. I do have the duplicate sound issue mentioned. A couple that I haven't seen listed:
1) When a ship has you targeted it has a red square around the + that shows ship size in the overview. The shade of red is now much darker then it used to be. On a black space background it is difficult to tell if you have aggro from a ship or not. This is on an older Nvidia card. The aggro indicator really should be brighter.
2) My cov ops is now scanning 2 seconds faster then before patch. Same skills, ship, and rigs. This isn't a complaint :).

Thanks for fixing it so that the camera maintains distance on jump. That drove me nuts.

Your Eve client installation may have been modified, damaged or have corrupt files. Please re-install the game client "root:/common.ini, crc:ee4a874d, expected:17e3f9. I've tried reinstalling doing said fixes etc eve worked fine before this patch. I'm on XP only thing i haven't tried is re-downloading. I'll try the tut2 fix now.

Does it time out? I've heard it can sometimes take a long time to aquire bulk data and it seems like you're stuck but you really just have to let it keep going, in some case for very long.

So just to clarify:
Launch mutli
scan cosmic sigs
If an unknown comes up scan again but cosmic anomilies?
If there is a exploration encounter it will show up then you can scan with quests as normal?
