I think CCP should make high sec alittle harder to pirate in. Too many people are able to get killed and get away with it in high sec. But honestly, being killed is a part of the game. So deal with it. If you want to do something with no pvp then i would say stay in high sec. But that would mean that CCP would have to crack down on making high sec alittle more harsh towards those who try to kill...

Man ...If this is for real..Then you sir need a serious attitude adjustment..
How the hell you have the front to assume you should be left alone because of RL/Health problems?
You think no one else has problems perhaps worse than your own?
Difference is they play so they can forget those issues,Not so they can bleat on the forums about them and be treated "Differently"...
In Eve EVERYONE is equal-And thats exactly as it should be.
The game is 100% PvP-Deal with it.
Saying that everyone who attacks innocents is "RL scumbags" etc is such an ignorant statement im starting to believe this is just Alt BS post..
If it isnt, then get a clue pls..You have no idea what sort of people you are playing with/against.
Some of the most honest and upstanding people i know play the "Evil" role in Eve.
Why?-Because it's just a damn game...
And to be honest ...Its soooo funny at times to see idiot's like yourself whining away on a forum.. YARRRR!!

You summed it up beautifully.

You know, we all lose things in EvE, ships, ISK, and so on. Pirates probably more then anyone else. Taking risks and eventually losing is a part of the game. It's just a point of making more then you lose. It's not something to cry about.

I really don't know why a carebear who is not interested in PvP would want 10 bil, anyway. I mean, you only need one CNR with faction/officer fittings to farm missions Very Happy

ISK is predominantly for funding PvP or investing into making more ISK. Most ISK ends back up in carebear or industrialist hands, anyway, with them producing the replacement ships, rigs, ammo and fittings we fight in. So each of your mission runners IS interested in PvP, because that's what makes the economy tick. Imagine the massive market crash if all the pirates went away for a week.

Hell, maybe we should go on strike for a couple of weeks just to show them carebears YARRRR!!

Let's make them NOT show up instantenously and not instapop/jam you (as it's not realistic. make them strong and have superior numbers but not insta-pwn), and then they can secure the loot for all I care.

Oh, no, wait, you wouldn't want that, now, because you could gank with even less ships? Very Happy

You just want to make high-sec safer. It's safe enough.

To quote the FAQ:

http://www.eve-online.com/faq/faq_12.asp

"Players should note that EVE emphasizes player interaction, including non-consensual combat between players."

If you can't handle it, you're playing the wrong game. How much more do you want than a statement from the creators of the game saying that the game emphasizes non-consensual PvP?

blah blah all you want but it is CCP's problem because the more people pirate in high sec, probability of them quitting is 90% more.

every person lost is 14$ out of ccp's pocket.

So its not an ingame thing you can boast about not being 100% secure about, its the reputation your games gonna get for

a. losing the people who love the game.
b. turning the people who love the game against them.
c. ruining friendships between the people who play the game irl.

And at one point, because you have such a "hardcore" game, you're going to realise, you're the one sitting at the desk wasting your life away taking away people's hard earned work, only to sell your character after a few years on ebay for a few 100$ which you havnt earned.

in other words, you're scum in game and you're scum irl.

yep, each and every ganker is scum irl. waa waa all you want.

If you leave for this reason you dont love the game you ******.

I fully sympathize with Desolacer. First, I agree there should be no pirating in high sec. space--at least none that pays the perps. The way police respond to criminal acts in Eve is unusual, in that it is all but instantaneous. In RL, getting shot at or killed rarely occurs with police presence b4 the whole thing is over. Police response in Eve is even more unusual in another way. In RL, should the police happen to be present while you were being shot or killed, your body and belongings certainly would not be left lying around to be plundered by anyone who felt like doing so. Your remains and your property would be protected. Since the police are on the scene, this should be so in Eve too--at least in .5 space and above.

I say leave pvp to those who wish to engage in it, and let them engage in it with one another in .4 and below space. No doubt there will be howls about this not being hello kitty on-line--the loudest howls, no doubt, from those who then wouldn't get to play "hello kitty" in the form of pvp in high sec versus those who don't wish to play and have not the skills to threaten the big, bad, nasty old pvp'ers who are so ready to inflict the gritty side of Eve on the ill-prepared. I bet many pvp'ers aren't so eager to take on ONLY others who have the same skills as themselves, and the same proclivities.

There will be much "WAH, WAH, WAH'ing," but it won't be from those who simply wish to have the police in the game function as police do in real life--to keep the criminals from freely practicing their desires among those not so inclined. I for one don't enjoy having things stolen from me, whether in RL or in a game. I enjoy it even less when I realize the loss occurred because another person, in RL somewhere, someone I don't know and have not provoked, has simply decided that what I have is something that person is entitled to take. That is a crimnal mentality. Whether in a game or in RL. I have no use for it in either place.

As for the consequences of this loss on Desolacer, I can only say I feel for him. None of the "ppl" who so casually dismiss the losses of another can know what those losses meant in RL. Maybe a promise needs to be broken that was made to a child, who will not understand. I don't know; but I do know it's easy to dismiss the pain of others. Sorry for your loss. Eve is full of bullshi* contradictions like the cops warping in on you, as if by magic, instantaneously, then not acting like cops at all. Maybe someday CCP will get it that they need to make places for pvp and those who wish to avoid that sort of thing. It isn't too much to ask--only those who wish to prey on others think that it is.

First, this is a PVP game, through and through. CCP wants pirating in High Sec. Deal with it.

Second, you're right. Yes, I said it. BUT WAIT! What are you right about?

The way Police respond in Eve IS Unusual. You know why? BECAUSE THIS IS A FREAKING SPACE GAME!

If real life police showed up and acted in real life ways when you get PVP'd, you know how they would respond?

They'd start by losing EVERY FREAKING FLUID IN THEIR BODIES! Because they are in SPACE!

As for leaving PVP to those who wish for it:
It has been said many times, by the devs themselves.

When you log into Eve, you are accepting that you may be forced into non-consentual pvp. Do you know what that means?

Just by LOGGING IN, You are AGREEING to accept the risks of PVP. Therefore, you obviously WANT to PVP.

CCP, today you have lost 6 people from your subscription list. Not because of how dynamic your game is, but because the people who like to play your game as a hobby are the victims of your own failure to make high sector a secure environment for players.

The more people get ganked in high sec. The more they'll quit.

If you don't want people to interact with you, play single player.

If you don't want to get ganked, play WoW.

EVE is non-consensual PvP. Which is the reason a lot of the people play it. Let's not change it for one person who disagrees, eh?

You want CONCORD to act like real police? Well, uh, they kinda do. How many times do you see the police getting to a murder scene before the murder occurs?

Some people need to be left alone? So, every time I'm about to shoot someone, I should ask them how they are today, and whether they want to be killed? Uh....

So yeah, to sum up, EVE clearly isn't for you =/. Nowhere in EVE is supposed to be 100% safe. Now, if you can't accept that you should play something else. I'm not being harsh here, that's just the way things are.

Also, you really, really shouldn't carry 10bils worth of stuff in something that will be likely to get ganked....

This is one of the most awesome threads I've ever seen.

Let's see what's happened here.

Desolacer signed up to a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, and attempted to play it solo. Because of his wish to play it solo, he avoided all interaction with anyone else, and therefore wasn't aware of the rules of engagement in high security space. Then he gets killed, and comes to the forums to whine about it.

People then go on to explain that EVE was designed to be like that, and that sooner or later, as has happened here, you will die if you don't interact with other people in order to learn about how the game works.

Desolacer decided this wasn't quite what he wanted to hear, so he starts using personal insults.

People continue to be nice and explain to him how he is misunderstanding how the game works.

And what's even better, on one of his early posts he claims someone is being mean by trying to force their style of play onto someone else. He even called the a hypocrite. But in return he says that this game, which is designed to be cruel, and full of death and destruction, should be changed so he can play singleplayer in high sec, therefore ruining the game for a great many subscribers. Hold on, isn't that the definition of a hypocrite.

I'd have a go at explaining to him myself, but he wouldn't listen, would you Desolacter. No, didn't think so.

The fact is mate. You chose the wrong game. You then insulted people. You try to bring real life into a place where it doesn't belong. Most of the people in this game who would kill you over and over because they can would never do such a thing in real life. It's foolish and uncalled for to assume they would. People are only starting to flame you a bit because almost every one of your replies is an attempt to insult them, because they play the game how it was designed to be played. And that is however they want.

"Yeah, that's exactly what I mean Ases. I want to play the game how I want too."

Good point Desolacer. I'm happy I made it for you. But the fact is that people play the game how they want, whilst taking into account the other people who play the game how they want. There are very successful carebears out there who have no intention of PvPing, but accept that others do, and make plans to work around that. You have to do that, or you will die.

Now, once again, I can only say that you should simply quit the game. It clearly isn't the right one for you to be playing. There are plenty of MMO's out there, or single player games, where you can sit and play PvE all day without worry. If you want to play EVE, then you have to accept what EVE is, not complain about it and try to change it.

Desolacer, you still haven't had the guts to tell everyone EXACTLY what you lost and under what circumstances, all you've said is that it is around 10bil isk worth..

If it turns out that you were transporting T2 bpo's through jita or niarja in a badger mk2 i will laugh my head off..

As for real life problems excluding you from in-game conflict.. im sure the people who ganked/pirated you were psychic and knew all about your real life situation..

People that know me, know that i have alot of real life problems at the moment, in fact i like eve because it gives me a chance to get away from the problems that exist outside of the game, but no matter what my real life problems are, i would never take them into the game or expect special treatment because of them.

It is most unfortunate that you lost something you found important but I think changing the game to prevent non-consensual PVP would ruin the core of the game.

Now I'm not just another pirate who wants to blow everyone up. I'm trained up to use a Hulk, Occator and L4 Dominix. I'm producing a majority of all Gallente equipment up to Cruisers and working on Battlecruisers and running missions hard to get standings to open up a hi-sec POS.

I've only engaged in combat in my Brutix once against a ore thieving Raven and got my tail thoroughly handed to me before I managed to dock at the station with 10% hull left (whew). I have enjoyed every ship I have lost in PvP (and usually been thoroughly ****ed loosing them in PvE). I DO NOT want to see hi-sec be made perfectly safe.

Every ship loss has been an opportunity to learn from my mistakes and annoy the heck out of the pirates when they cannot catch me. Since I lost my last hauler nearly six months ago I have not lost a ship in PvP, this includes my Itteron IIIs I run missions though low sec with (17% hull on docking one time). Had a great time making a trade run through low sec in my blockade runner with a CBC chasing me though four systems and not managing a lock on me.

Any time I haul something more expensive than 20M (except ore) it goes in my blockade runner or my T2 tanked Dominix. If I were to ever haul anything worth more than 1b that didn't fit in my Dominix I'd probably send it by courier with a deposit equal to the goods or hire a merc crew to escort me and make them give me a deposit returnable upon safe delivery.

If I want to play a game where I cannot loose I'll go play freelancer or some other off line game with easy mode on. I want online play to be a gamble so that when I accomplish something, it means something. If I don't want it to mean anything, I don't care if the results are persistent.

So to sum up my thoughts, I don't run anything on my own in Eve that I'm not willing to loose. If I'm not willing to loose something, I will run it with insurance so that if it is lost, I can recover it. If it is something that is not recoverable, there will be lovely storage throughout Eve of all my fancy stuff that will never leave a station.
