I dont know what happened but just guessing you maybe got Lofty'd? (More info here).

High sec mission runners who don't do anything else but farming missions, earning isk, buying a Navy Raven and expensive faction mods to do the missions quicker to earn more isk. Only to buy even better faction mods and maybe officer mods again to do the missions even faster to make more isk but never really using it on what this game is meant to be. A PVP game. I couldn't care less if these people get killed and quit the game, they're just a waste of bandwidth imho. Go play WoW instead...

You seriously need to get over yourself. If losing however much ISK and modules you lost makes you so upset you need to start bashing at people IRL, YOU are the one in need of help. As I`ve previously stated, its a game, get over it!!!!!!

On a side note; do you still consider this to be a discussion, or has the fact that not a single poster wants to support you and cuddle you slipped your attention? The fact that you just can`t seem to understand this makes me think you most likely are a pirate alt having a good time, and for that I must commend you, this is highly entertaining reading...Cool

Oh, and get over it!

Good.

I'd rather have 50k people online that understand the world is brutal and adapt to it, and expect them to be a long-term subscriber, rather than 100k people that are constantly whining about how something is too risky and cancel their account when anything goes wrong for them.

Less stressful as well Wink.

thread's over there m8y...not much more to say.

I really hope the OP actually READ the thread he started. Aside from good general advice (ie: get a grip, seek counsoling, etc), he would have also learned that the things he's decrying are the very things CCP wanted this game to be.

I lost a fckton of isk today in ships and mods, both pirating and being pirated--but I can't wait to get home from work and do it all again.

If, at the end of the day, you can't say that...sry bro, you gotta find another game.

HOW did you lose 10bil to high sec pirates? If you are dumb enough to fight someone who is obviously baiting for agro in your faction/officer fitted mission running ubership then you deserve it to be brutally honest. Sorry but that's the way it is. If someone comes into a mission, gathers my loot and puts it into a can for me the last thing I would consider doing is taking it back. The more expensive your ship is the more likely it is to get killed by someone, probably us! How did you manage to gain 10bil anyway without understanding the game mechanics? Reckon you've lost a bit of RL cash there maybe??? ugh

It sucks doesnt it, you work for your isk for months, maybe years in your case, then it gets blown away in a few seconds, maybe transporting goods through that one yellow system out of 30 green.

Unless theres others that have invested as much time as you, only too lose it all can really relate to your post, but seriously CCP should make it a double edge sword, if you get concorded you should get no insurance, "risk vs reward" and all that. It's only fair isnt it?

At the end of the day its a game and games are supposed to be fun, maybe ccp will get this through there heads one day. If people wanted to get kicked in the nuts, i guess thats what real life is for & not something they pay $15 a month to enjoy.

Good luck with whatever you do and remember real life is more important than any stupid game, dont let this get between you & your friend.

I fully sympathize with Desolacer. First, I agree there should be no pirating in high sec. space--at least none that pays the perps. The way police respond to criminal acts in Eve is unusual, in that it is all but instantaneous. In RL, getting shot at or killed rarely occurs with police presence b4 the whole thing is over. Police response in Eve is even more unusual in another way. In RL, should the police happen to be present while you were being shot or killed, your body and belongings certainly would not be left lying around to be plundered by anyone who felt like doing so. Your remains and your property would be protected. Since the police are on the scene, this should be so in Eve too--at least in .5 space and above.

I say leave pvp to those who wish to engage in it, and let them engage in it with one another in .4 and below space. No doubt there will be howls about this not being hello kitty on-line--the loudest howls, no doubt, from those who then wouldn't get to play "hello kitty" in the form of pvp in high sec versus those who don't wish to play and have not the skills to threaten the big, bad, nasty old pvp'ers who are so ready to inflict the gritty side of Eve on the ill-prepared. I bet many pvp'ers aren't so eager to take on ONLY others who have the same skills as themselves, and the same proclivities.

There will be much "WAH, WAH, WAH'ing," but it won't be from those who simply wish to have the police in the game function as police do in real life--to keep the criminals from freely practicing their desires among those not so inclined. I for one don't enjoy having things stolen from me, whether in RL or in a game. I enjoy it even less when I realize the loss occurred because another person, in RL somewhere, someone I don't know and have not provoked, has simply decided that what I have is something that person is entitled to take. That is a crimnal mentality. Whether in a game or in RL. I have no use for it in either place.

As for the consequences of this loss on Desolacer, I can only say I feel for him. None of the "ppl" who so casually dismiss the losses of another can know what those losses meant in RL. Maybe a promise needs to be broken that was made to a child, who will not understand. I don't know; but I do know it's easy to dismiss the pain of others. Sorry for your loss. Eve is full of bullshi* contradictions like the cops warping in on you, as if by magic, instantaneously, then not acting like cops at all. Maybe someday CCP will get it that they need to make places for pvp and those who wish to avoid that sort of thing. It isn't too much to ask--only those who wish to prey on others think that it is.

Errrm, read the back of the box dude I think that's everyone who bought the game whether they know it or not. This is all about competing with the rest of the playerbase, however you want to do it. If you're not prepared for the tough life, don't try to live it. I have lost TONNES of stuff/isk to pirates in my time playing EvE, I've learned from my mistakes (most of them) and moved on. Why do people find this so hard to do? Surely if you crossed the road without looking and got run over, you'd start looking every time afterwards? Think people.

Thanks man, nicest post in this entire thread.

I wouldnt complain about this if it were a normal day because ive lost millions before but this particular incident....

If it were just my own thing it wouldnt have matterred to me, but I genuinely regret this incident because I was in the process of getting a gift for a very close friend for private reasons. If I could have even got the thing to him before being ganked I still wouldnt mind.

But.. I dont know what to say..you guys need to realise some people need to be left alone, life already sucks for them, let them have their little space on a game they play as a hobby... Especially the ones who always help others and never harass others in real life or ingame.

If you push and hurt them, obviously they're going to react and end of the day, you leave them with nothing, they have no corp, they have no way to pay for the game and they have no time. You've basically ended the game for those people who'd always help you if you needed any.

Anyway, theres nothing more I can say. Whats done is done. Thanks for not understanding those few people who who'd understand you and good luck supporting the ones who'll screw you over in real life if they had the chance to.

These people you speak of are clearly playing the wrong game. EvE is not for them. If you want to be left alone, don't play a massively multiplayer game. Don't moan to CCP for constantly recurring EBKAC issues (Error Between Keyboard and Chair).

Oh boy. I'm not sure wether I should laugh or cry at this all.

Okay, first off:

Quote:
NOT INTERESTED IN PVP

Okay. Go cancel your account. Now. Still here? Get going already! If you are not interested in PvP at all, why on earth are you paying and playing a game who's primary focus is PvP in different forms? Either thru ship to ship combat, or by marketing and battling over prices, or why not corp politics? Seriously mate, stop wanting to change the game to suit YOUR needs, and understand the underlying basics and visions of the game. You don't like it? Boohoo, WoW is in that direction. We play games because we like them and because we enjoy it. If you don't, why are you here?

Secondly:
You lost 10 bil to some high sec pirate? That makes you either

  • Clumbsy

  • Stupid

  • Careless

  • All of the above

Hauling valuable stuff thru ANY space takes caution and lots of it. It takes a dedicated hauling vessel, preferrably a blockade runner that can take a pounding and escape gate camps (which, for your information, do not exist in high sec space). It also takes a brain. Said brain is supposed to tell the pilot that shipping ALL of that 10 bil loot/stuff in ONE run in ONE ship is ASKING for trouble. Someone scans you and then you're dead. That's what piracy is all about. Don't want it to get stolen? Setup numerous courier contracts, or start shipping it yourself, one bit at a time so that if you loose anything, it's only a fraction of the total.

Man, I could go on by calling you ******, moron or plain imbecill, but I won't. I made some assumptions above, I agree. I stated that one must either be clumbsy or careless to loose that much stuff in one go. Now, if you're neither, I wonder how you lost that much anyway.

And seeing as you actually did have 10 bil stuff, that rules out that you are a newb, which means you have been playing this game for a long long time. You KNEW the risks. You are constantly reminded of it by simply playing the game and yet you ignored all the warnings and WHAM. Pirates hit you. This game is about risk. There is real risk no matter where you are, either from pure pirates to scammers. Now, honestly, if you can't take that, then you are in the wrong game my friend. There's simply nothing you can say that will defend or support your claim, since the responsibility to maintain your own security is yours and yours alone. Not CONCORD. They're there to punish the perpetrators. Not protect you.

And as you said, some people have a rough life. Yeah, true. Been there, done that, got the bleeding scars, but you know what? Cutting your wrist isn't clever when you are hurting inside. In this case, the cutting is playing such a risky game as EVE. If one is already unstable and can't handle some setback, then why risk it? Go play something where it isn't as risky.

Now, in closing I wanna say: Do not attempt to ruin the game for the rest of us. We LOVE, and I emphasize, LOVE the risk in EVE. Sure we loose some ships and stuff, but we rebuild. Quit trying to turn this game into a carebear simulation. There are already enough such games.

Cheers out!

First off, why aren't you giving any details on how you got ganked, who did it etc? You don't have to post the killmail...

Second, high sec piracy isn't as easy as "look - mission runner, press F1-F8!". You'd have to be completely careless or down right stupid. When carrying such valuable equipment as you menton why you wouddl be like that ESPECIALLY after playing for as long as you say is beyond me. You made a HUGE mistake and now instead of learning from it you whine.

EVE IS PVP. I bet that during the early design meetings CCP found the name of the game by replacing the P's with all the letters of the alphabet until they got one that sounded good.

So either cope with it or go away. You got a hell of a lot of nerve coming here asking to chage the game that so many people love to log on every day.

As much as I like the PvE aspect of the game, I'm starting to think* we can should have 4 systems (one per race) with security status of 1.1 that no one can be killed in... just to see how many people cluster into those systems and hide there.

*Disclaimer: I probably don't actually think this would be a good idea, but the thought amuses me so I thought I'd share.

CCP, today you have lost 6 people from your subscription list. Not because of how dynamic your game is, but because the people who like to play your game as a hobby are the victims of your own failure to make high sector a secure environment for players.

The more people get ganked in high sec. The more they'll quit.
