Note: this tractor beam can only be fitted on the Rorqual ORE Capital Ship

Rorquals are the largest group of baleen whales, with nine species in two genera. They include the largest animal that has ever lived, the Blue Whale, which can reach 150 tonnes.

Seems I have stumbled upon the name of the new cap ship in the description of the Capital tracker beam.

20,000m3 of cargo space. WTF, thats nothing, x10 and then we are talking. 200,000m3 cargo space is what is needed.

With the new "ore compression" module and skill this is probably going to work out to be like 200Km3 anyway.

While the cargo hold is only 20k m^3, the ore compression ability makes this quite a large capacity. For the rarer ore, the compression ratio is 20:1, meaning 400k m^3 cargo space, which is quite considerable.

Of ore (that you just mined or spent a ridiculous amount of isk on stront compressing) of course, which rules it out as what many were hoping would be a good jump capable freighter. It'll still be better than carriers though, but not really enough for alot of people to re-train.

Can compressed ore be offloaded to haulers or will it only remain compressed while inside the ORE Cap ship?

Heh, if you read CCP's ideas for nerfing Mineral compression, and why they are doing it (it negates the need for Freighter runs, basically), you would understand why they are doing his. link

Seems a little low on cargo to me too. 400k m3 of bistot works out to 162 million isk. That isn't a whole lot of capacity considering what you have to spend on fuel to jump the ship and compress the ore, plus how much you are risking. Especially if you consider that you could refine that bistot at a pos and it would melt down to only 638 m3. Yea, you loose 25%, but it's a hell of a lot easier to move and you don't have to deal with the expense of the ore capital ship.

Seems to me that the ships capacity needs bumped up a bit, to say 30k m3, and the compression ratios need to be higher too.

from what i can gather this ship seems to be a deep space miner - one where you dont have any POS -

I think it will still hold alot more, just beacuse you should be able to store many more fully blown out haulers in itVery Happy

I am disgusted by the nerf to mineral compression - ffs you want us in 0.0 yet reduce carriers effectiveness by removing capacity for cargo cans and now remove the lifeline alliances have for lowends?
I am glad im in drone regions though Twisted Evil
On the other hand - how is CCP going to allow bulk mineral transports in future?
I will ignore people that suggest "freighter runs" or "mine veldspar".
Please tell me they arent removing the ability for titans to jump flotilas of freighters through POS chains....

does it...? i find 800k m³ ship bay quite a convincing argument.

then there's the trick with not delivering your compression jobs:
1) go for cargo rigs and expanders and end up with 63k m³
2) run 10jobs
3) don't deliver them once they're done
-> almost a freighter's load of uncompressed ore "hiding" in the siege module

The survey scanner UI has been cleaned up so users will be quickly able to see which asteroids are desired and information can be passed to your gang via gang broadcasts, directing them to the juiciest ‘roids.

The idea is that the Rorqual pilot always has the survey scan window open and directs his mining fleet through the belt, because he can actually see the contents of the entire belt.
