I'm going to mostly be running missions and then eventually pvp. But I was hoping to reprocess the stuff I get from running missions. Should I train these two skills to get more?

- Refining 5
- Refining Efficiency 4

Is there anything else?

It's a must. Actually you'll want Efficiency at V so you can learn Scrap Metal Processing if you're serious about it.

Otherwise you won't be able to compete with the people who have perfect refines, as they can charge less than you for their minerals and still come out ahead.

If you're going to refine stuff from missions, you should aim for Scrap Metal Processing.

It requires Refining Efficiency V and Metallurgy V from memory.

It's a long training for the pre-reqs, but I've got my industrial alt training it right now.

Another alternative is to find someone in your corp with these skills.

There are a lot of refining skills, many of which are redundant and not necessary to reach a 100% refine when refining at a station with 50% base yield. Most empire NPC stations do have the 50% base yield, but you'll always want to double-check, as there are some that are lower (35% as I recall, but that's just from memory).

Refining is the basic skill, and you absolutely must train it to 5 if you want a decent reprocess rate on mission loot. Fortunately it is a rank 1 skill.

Refinery Efficiency is trainable after achieving Refining 5. At a 50% yield station, you'll get about a 94% reprocess rate just by training this to Level 2. At level 4, you'd be at a little under 98%. It's up to you whether those few percentage points are worth the extra training

Additional refine skills:

Scrapmetal Processing is trainable only after reaching Refinery Efficiency 5. For most players, getting this deep into refining skills is not worth the training time, and I would certainly not recommend spending the SP in getting here while still early in your career. But if you are determined to achieve an absolute 100% perfect refine on modules and ships, a rank or two of this skill will be required even at a 50% yield station.

(Ore) Processing - A different skill for every ore in the game (Bistot Processing, Scordite Processing, etc). If you arent interested in mining, ignore all of these. Training these skills to level 2 or 3 would result in a 100% refine or the ore even at a low Refinery Efficiency skill of 2 (at a 50% yield station), and would be faster than training Refinery Efficiency to 4. However, some of these skills for the higher end ores required Refinery Efficiency 4 or 5 anyway.

To make a long story short, if you're serious about refining mission loot, definitely train Refining to 5, and Refining Efficiency to at least 2. Level 2 would yield ~94%, Level 3 ~96%, Level 4 ~98%.

With Refinery at 5 and Refinery Efficiency 5, you'll achieve a 99,5% refinery.

At a 50% station, you'll only need lvl1 in any processing-skill to get over 100%.

But: Check your standing with the NPC-CORP, that owns the station where you want to refine. If I remember correct, you'll need a standing of around 6,67 towards that certain CORP to reduce the refining-fee to zero.
If your standing is below that, you can happen to waste more on this fee than you lose to refining.

If you can live with 0,5% loss for loot, then you can skip training the 2-3Weeks for metallurgy to lvl5 and train something else that will earn you more money or make your live more safe when flying around...
i.g. train some of the other processing skills high enough to use T2-crystals of that type and get even more m/cycle out of your roid :)

Imho, if you are a new player, no.
You'd be much better off investing your sp's in skills that will help you take on higher level missions sooner, and then, lvl4 missions faster.

refinery efficiency skills are somewhat useful for the rare breed of full time miners, and maybe industrial alts.
