What is to stop someone making multilpe accounts and getting the 180 free Credits everytime they make a new Account?

So every week a new account is made, and watch the episode for free?

I personally like eve tv, and pay for it, even if it is wrong to charge you to watch it over for a second time?

I think this might be fraud. You might get sued if caught, not 100% sure though.

I have a feeling quite a lot of people do that anyway. I'd be interested to see some figures on how many people actually pay for EVETV.

Indeed. FreeTV, now that's a grand name. Free TV FreeTV..FREE TV, yeah, sounds much better, trust me.

Besides with that many credit cards to open accounts, you would be doing more with your day than cheating a few measily handout credits would'nt you? You'd be bootlegging your corp collection of FREE EVE TV HANDOUTS..Razz

Or hit the usual youtube bootleggers before the vids are removed, if ever.

The lousy sports TV style presentation that dates back to the 1960s for a Sci Fi role playing universe employs lack of imagination and suits perhaps mainly for a nerd viewer. Blond dyed hair presentations are for kids and beer drinkers. With all that, replay value on the vids sux so I don't watch em for more than mod specs, or a decent way to go to sleep. I certainly ain't collecting points for em. Some idiots will endevour to though.

Bring back Sc-Fi action. After so many movies, why not something new in front of the camera? Something to hit the vets and noobs as well as the non playing audience? No wonder space gets boring too often.

Superbowl style presentation is for watching superbowl matches only innit?

Now, if you had doctor who, or Buck Rogers acting Laughing or playing guest appearances, or period costumes or storyline interaction. Then EveTV episode 3 will certainly look different to episode 23 innit?

Or feature some of the delicious eve Chronicles into EveTV, then you can boast a reasonable charge, because of reasonbly interested audience other than mod nerds and ego heads with big d**** with no ability to aim without on board computers.lol.

thats enough of my CONSTRUCTIVE rant.EveTV is still only good eneough to be FreeTV or NerdTV.

I get the feeling that Jets not a huge fan, I'm interested in seeing proof that the hairs dyed blonde Very Happy

Nobody is forcing you to watch, nobody is forcing you to pay, 1 a week is nothing, the presenting maybe super bowl styley but being English I wouldn't know about that. They'll get better, the format will change to what people want, If they listen to there viewers, it will grow. If they don't listen it will die on its arse.

But the fact that somebody is trying to bring something different to the eve world shouldn't be shot down. It needs room to find itself.

Oi, my hair ain't blonde. Ist black, no pationism or I'll bite you.

point is, people are trying to copy old models in an archaic way.

and If you're from England, how many subscriptions do the English have to fork out? Phone, Sky, HP, Eve, eveTV, doggy scraps delivery etc etc. Sure it adds up. And sure I don't like being bored by TV.

That's why I added to the indulstril request silly. Read my words, not my sex and stop being toon sexist right?

For a measily pound EvETV could become great, just as famous in the game world as MTV has become in the pop music world. By innovating, simple as that. Though I already know how things will end up, as this game looses appeal withi the next two years anyway, so EveTV will evolve to where? Thats my personal opinion and not on topic.
As I was saying. Market reports are realism par none. The whole of eve today is dealing with hiked Mex prices. As a news report, that would sell much more than how to fit a Bestower properly tyope tutorial.

As the example. If Mexallon prices remain high, obviously, many industrialists will have to change tactics or raise ship prices, etc etc. As an example report instead of eveTV tutorials. Unless they see noobs as their main stay audience.

Point is, the eveTV setup is not innovative enough, hence the dire price offered. Does that mean I don't like it? No. So go get your hair sheared and stop insulting me Boy.

at the risk of keeping this thread of topic i agree, i dont like the american style presenting they seem to be attempting, the naff jokes etc just arent funny, i wish they would stop trying to fool around and be serious.

it sort of reminds me of the kids tv presenters on saturday mornings, even blue peter had better presenting than eve tv does imo.

maybe they should just film the interviews in a pubQuestion

I was one of the people who criticised Eve-TV very heavily when it first came out.

I'm still of the opinion that the first episode was terrible, but subsequent episodes have only got better and better.

To be honest, it's on the up and up and as with anything it'll only get better.

I tend to agree. What they had going at the Alliance Tourneys of yesteryear (bunch of EVE players sat on a couch, chatting, having a laugh, and generally being a live-action version of any respectable corp's TS server) worked brilliantly. It was fun, enjoyable and welcoming.

This whole "we iz a serius telly box!" routine isn't coming off as well. Less seriousness, less naff scripted jokes, less desks, and less "professionalism". This is the internet- we want to see a bunch of EVEniks gossiping in front of a web cam and skulking around pubs to meet players.

you guys are seriously over thinking this. Its an amateur show about a game you enjoy. You can tell they are trying hard to get better stuff to make the show more enjoyable but they have sorta limited content to pick from

Okay, to bring the toppost's issue back on track:
I'm still waiting for it to either be hassle free, I'd love to pay directly to Eve-tv for watching the shows. Of course I wouldn't mind it being totally free like the radio. And I would mind donating real money via paypal.

But I WILL NOT REGISTER at some "shady" new service provider, if it's not directly connected to CCP I'll wait. I'm patient.

I'm sure Ja"whatever" is a nice service, but frankly I've drawn the line a long time ago. I stick to what I have that's working.

Every other day there's a new service provider, and they all start out by being for free or give credits to new joiners. The bad part is the 2-3 years from now, they don't get updated, or simply die as a corp, leaving me with yet another useless account with creditcard info out there.

KISS for crying out loud.

Stuff is happening in the direction of innovation pretty much every episode- it's just a problem of not enough time with the PvP tourney coming up, so don't expect a revolution immediately, if you ask me Smile but as many people have said, it's getting better and better (I do hope that goes for the studio sound too, by the way), and certainly once the PvP tourneys are over the trend will continue, no doubt Razz

As to Jalipo, I'm not a huge fan. I'd much prefer to have this offered in a Red vs Blue style- free lowqual, and pay-for highquality on a subscription basis, with DVDs available every so often.
Even assuming this payment option was available I'd prefer it not via Jalipo- the service has proven unreliable for me on several occasions in terms of connection.

Erm....thanks buddy, btw your name Rox !!

I guess with all my contractive ranting I'm really plugging for more RP in eve, via eveTV for the times when eventually eveTV becomes bigger or financially managed better to raise fee because of the constantly changing dynamic cutting edge content.

Don't get me wrong, I recon EveTV actually inspired the new MySpaceTV (that belongs to a huge media group somewhere). There is nothing else out there like eveTV, sooo, it must be a cutting edge show no matter how lame it gets right?

I like the idea of cutting down the studio size, and perhaps pushing the sci fi realism all the way in other areas, I mean all the way....... a wild e.g would be a Blair Witch/Mad Max or Matrix mashup style of photography feel and RPing on show wih high end tech or sci fi designed screens to give us a feel that they, the presenters, actually exist within an eve fashion sub culture or something like that. You know, like role playing the microcosms of eve planet side RP society.
Then the show will look credible presenting an episode of EveChronicles in anime/acting etc etc format. Am I making sense here or just farting my pants with this?

Segments like weekly eve market/economy reports, politics, chronicles, faction disputes etc are safe bet news clips. I can see small segs of the show dedicated to RPing news flash reports etc....or short stories, or player events, or sci fi music bands like Kraftwerk ....You right... Kraftwerk..But the ideas sting sweet don't they?

Sure, my ideas are tiny, but with increased sci fi graphic designs for screen overlays and interval clip reports or acting of real RP events, sci fi invites into the show, etc etc for future consideration then I may just waste my creds on an eveTV sub for 5-10 dollars a month, with a passion.

Thanks for the ideas. Until eveTV is followed by all game tv shows and or music shows.

It's PR, it's advertisement.
Do you pay for movie trailers?
Well I guess it's really that easy. At least for outside observers it tends to be their view.

I suggest they make it free to watch. Use commercials to make money. The more viewers you generate, the more the commercials will be worth.

More people will watch this way.

Just please don't get carried away with the amount of commercials. That will drive people away also.

I run Cameras for a show on a major local TV station here in New York, and do know a bit about broadcasting.

Another cool idea might be if you can broadcast it on the floating tv's at stargates and make the show dressed for the theme of the game. That could be fun. If that could technically be pulled off. Perhaps use it for the whole station avatar addon.

Kudos to CCP/EVE-TV for considering free EVE-TV episodes!

Well, I have to admit the discussion has been pretty much black or white. There weren't many attempts to find compromises.

That being said, and noticing the will to make concessions, I'd like to add to my previous comments the following:
1,50 per month (4 episodes iirc) or 4 per quarter, payable per Paypal.
That's what I could live with, if free EVE-TV episodes prove to be unfeasible. I'm only speaking for myself however.

I don't want to sound repetitive, but the two things that keep me from paying for EVE-TV atm are:
1. It's too expensive. (Rent a DVD or watch one nerd-show episode? Well yes, I am a nerd, but.. for the same money I can get better things)
2. Payment is complicated and awkward.

Making it free2watch solves all problems at once and creates a great PR tool.
Other solutions require more thought, effort and sure instinct.

Of course free EVE-TV would be best, and very small payments might be not worth the effort anyway.
But as they are making concessions, I'm trying to do the same.
