Where did you get it from? I can bet the current lag during the fleet engagements is caused for 95% by hardware limitations. The server hardware simply can't process that much of information real-time.
Oh, I have no doubt that nodes crash only when the processing capacity for that node have been maxed out. We seem to be having trouble with 150 vs 150 now. Last year it was 200 v 200. Before that, more. It may be that bigger battles happen and these are just "bad days" when a lot of other stuff is happening on the same node, but it sure seems that the node crash threshold is shrinking (or at the very least not growing) while the capability of each individual node is being upgraded. It seems like their code is getting less efficient. The same number of ships shooting the same number of weapons at the same number of targets appears to be requiring more and more computational power. It makes me think they introduced a poorly coded feature, a bug, or both. The faster and faster nodes should be handling bigger and bigger battles, not smaller and smaller, and that's a software problem. |

Oh, yes. But when they buy new hardware and keep getting slower, maybe it's time to bite the bullet and look at the code. No matter how hard you hit the head of the nail with the flat side of the hammer, it's not coming out of the board. |

I was in EC back in days when ASCN and BOB was sieging that sys with 600 in local... G- alliance jumped in(big cahunas boys-props to that)but it was like 10-15 sec lag on modules activation and that was that... Now days its like 300 in local-you get 30 mins grid load time... CCP DO SOMETHING DON'T JUST ADD MAKEUP MAKE OUR GAME FUN AGAIN!!! |

I don't see that as the case at all, you have more ships (500+ in v7-) More weapons (20 carrier's w/ fighters(on just the COW side) plus POS guns) and more targets (again 500+ in local and POSs) the node did not crash, but there was massive lag, this is definately not worse than when nodes crashed out completely. |

The lag gods heavily favoured fatal etc. tonight as our gangs jumped in and appeared 1 by 1 slowly in target system and were picked off by them. I wonder if there will be so many posts crying about how terrible the lag is from them tonight? I guess not. Lag is only ebil and a problem when its you losing ships to it I guess. |

Lagged, yeah it was. I was half amazed that your guys were actually showing up Fitz.
Fleet combat should be decided by skill and guile, not by 'who loads the enemy'.
To be fair, half of the targets were invisible to me half of the time... but at least I could see them this time. |

I agree, that was way too level headed to from from the "other side" here! But tbh, that is a very VERY good response and its teh essence of what many have already said: Nobody like to loose but loosing a fair fight is ok anyway, you know when you have been played out. Loosing a battle that you have prepared for, set up strategies for and if that works you might have a chance of pulling it off and then having it all thrown out due to that 90% of your fleet didnt load... THAT is what 'urinates' people off royaly. We can all stand to loose as long as we go down fighting! Because then you did what you could with what you had. If that wasnt enough then, tough luck but at least you gave it your best shot. Right now, even if you are destined to loose, you dont get the chance to even try. /Lowa |

Whatever they rewrite some sections of code in, it's still the stackless python runtime model. Originally by: George Petsch You sure stackless runs on the server too? thought it was only clientside with c++ on the server...

Yea brutal, though not too bad for me only 20 minutes to switch systems and not be able to jump to the rally point. Oh well, least i got on 5-6 km before the jump and die... as long as i get to shoot i won't complain too much.
Still I play this game for the epic fleet fights, least thats what i tell other mmorpg players, and it kinda sucks that i can make lunch waiting to be able to die... |

Lag is acceptable up to 250 in local, closing in on 300 the lag kicks in! Add in another 100 like we had on saturday, its unplayable.
It really bites with desync and 15min+ lag and to make matters worse, not getting ships reimbursed! CCP needs to shape up here! |

Its also the first time we weren't outnumbered 2-1, AND the lag didn't eff us up. It was a turkey shoot. The more interesting fight happened in v7- though....From what I hear, You're side wasn't lagged out, and neither was ours. So it was a good fight! Regardless of outcome. |
