Hi people. I have problem with capacitor storage, power is never enough... In your oppinion: Should I aim for a new ship or strive to improve the capacitor storage? - in that case - How?

First off, powergrid and capacitor are two different things. One allows you to fit modules to your ship (both active and passive) while the other gives the energy required to run active modules.

There are only two skills to improve capacitor: Energy Management and Energy Systems Operation.

All ships have problems with capacitor. It's the balancing thing to make sure you don't load up your blasters with antimatter rounds and MWD at your enemy while constantly running your shield booster; instead, you need to plan for your capacitor usage, and spend it wisely in a fight, as it doesn't come back all that quickly.

Still, some ships have worse capacitor problems than others. What ship are you flying?

Also, if you somehow can fit it, capacitor batteries are a GREAT mod for helping out with capacitor problems. They eat a lot of CPU and powergrid though.

Sorry should have mentioned the ship... Its a Imicus Gallente Frigate. Actually i checked out capacitor batteries, but they are really expensive, to expensive for me that is reeally new in Eve. So i was thinking, that maybe I`m wasting time if I try to find capacitor batteries, wiith all the skilltraining, and money collecting involved. Maybe its better to sparew that effort untill I have a better suitable ship...

Small and Micro capacitor batteries should be very cheap...

Anyway, I wouldn't spend too much time in the Imicus; unless you want to use exploration probes, it doesn't really do much that another Gallente frigate doesn't do better. I'd aim for an Incursus (though a Tristan could be fun too). You'll get the same base capacitor/second regeneration rate, but twice as much to start out with. It's also a nice combat frigate, unlike the Imicus.

Out of curiosity, what modules are you trying to run on the Imicus to give yourself so much capacitor trouble?

Ok, thank you very much for the advice! About the moduls-fitting; Il get back to you on that one...But the problem often occurs when I try to fit weapons and shields...

If you're having problems actually FITTING things, then it's powergrid you're short on, not capacitor.

Train up Engineering and fit a Reactor Control Unit/Power Diagnostic System/MicroAuxillary Power Core.

There are other skills like Shield Upgrades and Advanced Weapon Upgrades, which reduce the PG cost of certain modules. Rigs are also available, but these may be out of your price range at the moment.

OR it could also be CPU requirements. That's the problem I had with my Rifter. I had plenty of powergrid left when I started trying to throw 200mm guns on, but I was way short on CPU if I tried to fit them while I had my scram/nos/web/etc fitted. Working on the skills that lower the cpu and/or powergrid usage for certain modules helped a lot.

Lot of good suggestions already but I'll just put in my 2 cents, what are you using your capacitor on mostly? I know for myself while out ratting I have my AB on pretty much 24/7 as well as heavy shield booster use by with energy management, energy system operations and shield compensation skills combined with a shield boost amplifier I get a hell of a lot more out of my capacitor.

You may also want to look into energy vampire and just drain capacitor from other people.
