My lineage is thus: Earth & Beyond. Dropped out for a while.
Found Freelancer. Played that for a while. After I got bored, I found EVE via battleclinic.com (I was using it for Freelancer help) and I have not regretted my choice. |

Edited by: Great Artista on 06/07/2007 10:37:32Please dont laugh: Tibia -> Runescape -> eve I was impressed of eve right from the first day, so I gave a hint to my friend. He joinned too. He loved it, well ofc he did, we tend to think alike; EXACTLY ALIKE, christ we even say same things simultaneously. And here we are, over 2 years later. |

I was, and still am mostly into FPS.
Unreal Quake 3 Half-Life (That also means Conter-Strike, The Specialists, Natural Selection, Vampire Slayer, Team Fortress Classic and countless other mp/sp mods) Halo Unreal 2004 Half-Life 2 (As well as CSS and Dystopia on clan-level)
As you see, all this were mostly sci-fi action games, with my favorite parts of them being large multiplayer battles. Then my clan leader in Dys got hooked on EVE and got inactive for a long time. The clan was about to disband, so i went inactive to play some NS again, where lots of the community members advertised EVE in game and on forums. I decided to check it out, with it being my first and last MMO.
And heh, here i am year and a half later, a bit crippled by the attribute selection i did in the very beginning, but never regretting that i tried this game. |

I kept seeing ads on Penny Arcade, thought "ooh that looks cool", then promptly forgot about it for a year or more. Then the T20 scandal hit slashdot, then the Ask CCP story hit slashdot, and I signed up But the lineage I followed would be ZX Spectrum Elite -> Elite II and Elite First Encounters -> TIE Fighter -> Homeworld Cataclysm -> Homeworld 2 -> EVE -G |

EVE is my first an only MMO really. Well, there were a few text based mods on the old BBS but that doesn't count.
Games before EVE:
Space Games: X-Wing
Shooting like crazy: DOOM, DOOM II (please note that I played doom on a 386dx40Mhz, the fastest 386 ever!)
Strategy: Age Of Empires, AOE II

Edited by: Ryysa on 07/07/2007 10:21:37Hmph, my path is a long one... From only space games: Privateer X-Wing vs Tie Fighter StarCraft ( :P ) Homeworld, Homeworld 2 I-War 2 Freelancer And more in general... I think first FPS I played was wolfenstein 3d back when i was 6 years old or so... I've probably played most popular FPS's at one time or another. I played the first Unreal Tournament online, on a high level. Currently I have CS:Source... From MMO's, I've played: Lineage II WoW (just 2 weeks) Silkroad (1 week) RF Online (1 week) Guild Wars (though not really an MMO, but has good pvp) The interesting thing is, that since I started work, and generally since about around march this year, I've increasingly lost interest in computer games. I just don't want to play anything anymore, and I'm not sure that I'll ever come back to EvE from my current hiatus either. I guess I got hit by the real life nerfbat P.S. Regarding about how I got to eve, well someone I got to know during my Lineage II time (hi Drasked) told me to try out EvE. I ended up liking it, and we've played quite a bit together. In fact, I'm going to pay him a visit in Amsterdam in about 2 weeks. |

Yep, back when Pc Gamer was actually good they did a free trial of eve exodus on their free cd-rom. I tried it but it didn't work cause I did not have broadband...than spartan239 bought eve, he told me he got it so I bought it a week later for £5 in Electronics Boutique. Loved Pc-gamers spreads about the guiding hand social club scams and other eve stuff....but I frankly stopped reading when they got devoted to WoW, I mean it's a good game and all but they were just being fanboys half the time. |

Alpha Centauri > Civilization > EvE. Bought it because it was an online game and looked like it offered amazing breadth. Got home, realised it was a monthly subscription thought oh well the box looks too enticing .... 3 1/2 years later I quit due to now ex ... 3 mths later again back with 2 accounts |

Playing CSS in clan for about a year. Everynight 2 guys would go off to play some space game called "EVE". Rest is history as they say. Only wish I'd started playing earlier. |

Man, this thread made me feel old. My lineage on space games goes back to Elite, I think the first space game I played was Space War, not the orignal though, I'm not that old. |

I won't recount all the games I've called home in the past 20 years, but the general flow goes something like this:
Attended college before the huge internet boom, back when the internet was still text-based (i.e. no www, and I remember distincly looking at Mosaic 1.0 and thinking 'that crap will never catch on' ... hah).
Played text-based RPGs (MUSHes and MUDs from school). Misc single and limited mult-player games (Doom series, Quake series, Diablo1&2). Played EnB from 1mo after launch until EVE beta7 EVE b7 -> EVE release -> rev2, woot Mix some WoW in there for some diversity and there you have it.
Currently looking fwd to seeing how Tabula Rasa comes out. Not something that could replace EVE and prolly won't compete favorably with WoW, but I sitll like a good shoot'emup game.
