I discovered a bug in version 2.8. If you drag a module fitted to your ship into the projected effects box, then switch to another setup, then try to remove the projected effect, it causes a pop-up box that says "Access violation at address 004D482D in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 00000010."


Confirmed, it does so. This is milder than the bug affecting Boosters/Implants though, does not destroy the setup or force you to manually delete the offending 0 byte long <ship-nnn> setup file so you can actually start EFT again.

Please rewatch the "Capital Ships" skill, in EFT 2.8 this skill give the freighters and jumpfreighters a bonus in agility, but this ships dont use this skill.

Suggestion:

Regarding ship/module prices. I find myself manually loading in prices for ships/modules that can be bought at market hubs because these prices are often times lower(sometimes MUCH lower) than the eve-central reported average which EFT downloads automatically.
My idea is to have a box ticked in settings that will tell EFT to gather any available market data from C:\Documents and Settings\$USER\My Documents\EVE\logs\Marketlogs folder.
Market logs can be obtained by clicking the "export to file" button at the bottom of all market(details tab) screens.

Not sure if it has already been mentioned... I recognized while fitting an Astarte. The Battlecruiser Bonus doesnt seem to apply correctly as there are no DPS changes when changing Battlecruiser Skill.
- Maybe it has been applied without linking it to the skill level as its a prereqiusite - I dont know..

Any T2 ship already has the bonuses from the level 5 required skill built into it, since it's a requirement to fly the ship. Changing that skill level won't change the stats because without the level 5 skill you wouldn't be able to fly the ship. Even though the description says something like 5% bonus to velocity per level in Minmatar Cruiser, the base stats of the Vagabond already take into account the 25% boost in speed because you *need* Minmatar Cruiser V to fly the ship.

Once you create it, mess with it and exit the setup, it auto-saves.

Ok, so I was messing around with a raven setup, and added a booster...

For some reason EFT crashed...

Then I started getting this error when trying to open or close EFT.

"Access violation at address 004CB05A in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 02128000."

I ended up having to remove my raven.cfg file to correct the error. Looking at that file... it looks like when EFT crashed... it didnt fully write the fittings to that file. So my last lines look like:

Cruise Missile Launcher I,Wrath Cruise Missile
Cruise Missile Launcher I,Wrath Cruise Missile
Cruise Missile Launcher I,Wrath Cruise Missile

Which EFT apparently panics when it sees that partial name.

removed that final setup, replaced the file and EFT still errors.... Is there anyway to recover the file?

EFT is not written in C#, it is written in Delphi/Object Pascal; I can tell this from the fact that it throws up so many access violations. EFT is a great app but, no offence to Gripen, Delphi is possibly the worst programming language to write anything in, due to the fact that (a) the runtime seems to trigger access violations at the drop of a hat and (b) access violations have a nasty habit of corrupting the internal state of the app.

Gripen, from one programmer to another, I'd seriously advise you to consider rewriting EFT in a mananged language such as C#. The company I'm currently working for used to be a Delphi shop and is slowly migrating to C#, and the apps we've ported from Delphi to C# are now so stable that even the users have commented on this!

If you decide to do this, I'm happy to help you port code... hell I've had enough experience converting Delphi apps to C# apps to last me a lifetime ugh.

When you right click a Mining Gang Link module thats fitted to a Rorqual. The "Change Affecting Skills" menu does not include the level for "Capital Industrial Ships".

Boosters work + drag'n'dropping implants works too. Also projected effects are properly removed when changing setups within same ship.

Again, superb work Gripen! I know you won't prolly need it but small isk donation coming your way anyway :)

The speed listed for the ship with the AB turned on is the same with and without the salvage tackle rigs. It should apply a penalty of 9% per tackle, resulting in about 410 m/s speed with 3 rigs installed, right? This is about the speed I get in-game with this setup anyway, so something is wrong in EFT.

Fantastic program btw, saved me so much time and isk, I can't stand the thought of playing EVE without it. Keep up the good work.

Downloaded 2.8.1

Playing with the boosters... it doesnt turn the character skill requirements indicator red when you choose a booster that requires biology 2, and you only have biology 1.

IE: Have biology 1. Added Improved X-Instinct booster. Still showed green.

Minor Feature Suggestion:

Often when playing around with fitting ideas, you have to do a lot of A/B/C comparisons of various modules and rigs in order to determine the best combination.

For example, this afternoon I was playing with fitting out a Crane with combinations of nozzles, polycarbon, nanofiber and stabilizers, trying to find the best "bang for buck" combination for speed and manuverability.

It would be extremely handy if the popup you get when you right-click on a slot also lists all the items you've put into that type of slot during the current session, for quick replacement. This would make the mix-n-match process a lot faster.

Props on the app, btw.

Every time I download this programe I keep getting Missing Filename and then it open. When i try to then use it, it states an access violation.

I am getting frustrated with this as I have tried in vain to download a workable version...any tips apart from stop downloading it.

I am running xp pro 64 bit.

Hi,

Might be a problem with Frieghters & Jump Frieghters.

Thier align time seems to get modified by the Capital Ships skill.

However, the Capital Ships skill says....

"Grants a 5% bonus per skill level to the agility of ships requiring the Capital Ships skill."

However, these 2 ship types dont require the Capital Ship skill. So is EFT wrong or is the description in Eve wrong?

Hey, Thanks for all of your hard work on the EFT it really helps Fit for PVP.

On that note, I noticed that it doesn't show the Strip Miner/Ice Harvester reduced cycle time when getting boosts from a command ship with Mining Foreman Modules.

Is this by design?

BUG REPORT

EFT-2.7 looses changes when computer shutdowned via Run->Shutdown.
When I manually click EFT:File->Exit all changed data saved as needed.

Hi Gripen

Found what appears to be a bug with 2.8.1. In Vista x64 when hovering over the question mark (?) to get a ship description, the description is often blank and when it is CPU usage will often bump up past 20%. Also, the description box will not disappear upon moving the cursor off the (?) icon.

first off, THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH FOR MAKING EFT!!! playing around with this program has shown me the types of rigs i dont really need and saved me over 100days of training for a ship that is barely better than what i have now. YOU FRIGGIN RULE!!!

however, i got a real quick question about EFT. after fitting several modules to various ships the capacitor summery is telling me "Stable at 100%". what does that mean exactly? Rolling Eyes

hey there. everytime i go to download, i click the link and it takes me to http://depositfiles.com/en/files/8448710, i select the free downloading option and get a 60second countdown, once this has finished, i click download and get "Downloading is currently impossible, because the link generated for your IP address 90.192.45.3 is now obsolete, please, get a new download-link"
along with a party poker sight pop-up. anyone know why my download keeps failing?
