Edited by: Cyan Nuevo on 09/07/2007 02:44:46I don't get why having XML import would offer any advantage to those without an internet connection. You have to have an internet connection at some point to get an XML sheet in the first place, so why not just transfer a CHR file instead of the XML? Oh, and fix the distorted icons bug plz or I'm CANCELING MY ACCOUNTS! All 6 of them! |

as I've already said before in this thread (and a couple other people have) is there any way of getting an XML parsing utility put in for those of us that may use it on PCs that don't have internet connections?
Manually editing a .chr file isn't my idea of fun.
If I recall correctly, according to the folks at EVEmon, the XML character output is going to be removed soon, now that they've got the API access. Which would be a shame as it's really quite useful.
The API still produces an XML sheet, just in a different way (API key and user code instead of username/password), and in a slightly different format.
Read the documentation: http://myeve.eve-online.com/api/doc/data-charsheet.asp
Yeah, I know that, but there's not going to be a link for us to just save our XML data from. You would have to build an app to retrieve and output the XML so you could import the XML to other apps.
That's funny, because I'm looking at my character sheet right now with this URL format:
http://api.eve-online.com/char/CharacterSheet.xml.aspx?userID=[[YOURUSERIDHERE]]&apiKey=[[YOURAPIKEYHERE]]&characterID=[[YOURCHARIDHERE]]
*le sigh* You're missing the point while trying to look like a smartarse. You want everyone who wants an offline copy of their character to do that, or are you just thinking of yourself? To get that link you had to go into the documentation for the API access, get the template of the link, get your userID and api key from the api page, the characterID from the URL you are sent to (not the page, but cutting it out of the link itself) when you select your character on My Character, and then piece it all together into a nice big link to paste into your browser. Very user-friendly, and intuitive too! And then you've got to copy and paste that into notepad and save it as an XML. Not hard for you, or I, or any of the other coders frequenting these parts, but it's frightfully curcuitous and a very, very far cry from right-clicking on a link labelled ''XML DATA'' and saving the target of the link. I hope you're going into software engineering 'cause with more people around who think that's a good method of end-user data access, it's going to be really easy to get a job. |

I'm pretty confident ECM drones aren't affected by Drone Interfacing. It's not a huge issue :P but now you know it anyway :) . |

Excellent tool to be honest :) I am finding it much much easier to use than Quickfit however both still very good tools. This one however shows promise to be the best. I have run some tests, lots of setups I use currently, and seeing if I find any bugs with the CPU/Powergrid usage, and other things...none found as of yet The little touches on this program are just great..change affecting skill etc, oh this saves a lot of time. Also the character editor is SO SO easy to use and so quick man, great job on the implementation of that. Just a few suggestions; - On the API import, could you add an active hyperlink to the page where you gain the API key. - Could you perhaps add a base speed field please? One with and one without MWD/AB applied. SKUNK VOTES FOR FORUM STICKY Gripen mate, your probably gunna wanna change the title on the EvE forums a bit so its more eye catchy. Nothing like 'FROGS SELL CAMEL FOR A PAIR OF SHOES' more of 'EFT - New EvE fitting tool (Sex)' |

Not exactly what you are asking for (and you might already know) but you can just uncheck your MWD/AB and the stats show the update to sig, base speed and cap |

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 09/07/2007 15:35:06 Nice tool, but I still prefer Quickfit for a number of reasons:
1. No doubleclick fitting/unfitting for modules, drones and ammo. This is a major gamebreaker for me. I HATE drag and drop. Doubleclick is so much faster.
2. Nevermind, found the faction items.
3. Important stats only in tooltips
4. No favorites
5. No firepower sim with detailed stats like damage on specific NPCs, resists etc.
And a few minor issues: - On opening the program, the setup you last worked on should be loaded. - There should be a permanent big button that opens the ship browser. - The icons in ship resources and parameters are totally fubar for me.
Work out those kinks and you might be on to something great. |

Brilliant program, a few suggestions though:
As said on the first page I'd like to be able to add modules to my setup by double clicking them rather than click and drag, its alot faster doing it that way.
I'm not sure if this has been said but I'd prefer the high slots to be on the top and the low slots to be on the bottom or at least provide an option to do this. Also a space between the each slot type wouldn't hurt for readability, ie:
high slot high slot
med slot med slot
low slot low slot
rig slot rig slot |

Excellent! I really like it.
A few ideas:
1. Would be nice to have that "All Level V" pseudocharacter built in.
2. You could pick a module-double-click target a la QuickFit. Here's how: even with multiple setup windows open, I still have input focus going to the most recently used setup. That's where a double-clicked module should go to.
3. How about the ability to offline a module whilst leaving it fitted? Especially the mwd.
4. Effective HP could be broken down into the four damage types. This is useful for designing a DD-resistant tank. It could be just included in the "EM resistances" mouseover popup.
5. Missing many new implants?
6. Ctl-Z undo? :)
7. How about a list of all current setups, rather than browsing by shiptype?
8. A mechanism to export fitting and stats to the clipboard would be very handy.
Nonetheless it's already better than QuickFit for my needs. Thanks Gripen!

The corrupted icon bug is because of color depth. I just switched to 32bit colors and they display fine. On 16bit theyre fubar. Would be nice if that was fixed though as I run 16bit most of the time due to HOI2 not liking 32bit... |

I extract it to it's own folder and run it and get an error
Cannot open /icons/other/ship.ico. the system cannot find the path specified.
Then eve fit tools opens with a blank window.

Absolutely brilliant tool. Thanks. Totally replaced QuickFit for me, which is especially because I like pretty icons.
My biggest complaint at the moment is that if I have more than one ship setup of a given ship type (I like to keep several variants of my fave ships), the drones end up getting removed, merged together into a single ship setup or otherwise 'forgotten' about when I restart the app. Add this to the fact that I have to drag 5x the drones I want individually to the drones panel every time, and I end up being an unhappy ship fitter... |

Great program, quickfit is definitely going right out the window. Hope to see an update soon, as there are quite a few good suggestions in the thread so far. Only real gripe I have at the moment is the missing Mining Foreman Mindlink... I don't care about knowing gang effect and such, but having the module available to fit so the CPU and PG requirements can be taken into account would be great. So thanks and keep on keepin' on. I'm sending you a token of my appreciation in game and I encourage anyone else impressed by this to do the same. |

Would it be possible to make the size of the ship fitting window stay at what you drag it to? because everytime i restart the program and open up a ship to fit with modules, the window resize itself back to the normal width and hight. |

Left click the green arrow next to an active module to turn it off (click the red "x" that appears in the green arrow's stead to turn it back on). Right click the green arrow or the red "x" to Overheat the module, left click the "Fire" icon that takes the green arrow's/ red "x"'s place to turn off heat (the fire becomes a green arrow regardless of what it was before). Originally by: Naomi Wildfire I tried this program today. Its pretty nice, but what there are some things i'm missing.
Cap test like in Quickfit Doubleclick for Fit and Unfit Infos of modules will get shown if clicked Calculated DPS
Right above the capacitor icon on the right hand side of the ship setup pane there is a place that will say how long your capacitor will last; activate and deactivate modules to vary the result.Below and to the left of the capacitor icon there is a gun icon in the "Firepower" section of the setup pane, next to the gun icon on the right there is a number. That number is you DPS. Below that is your "Volley damage" which is your Alpha Strike. |

The maximize button for the ship setup is grayed out though, would be nice if that would fit the window to the leftover space.
Also I'd like the tooltip window to stay open longer (or maybe make an on click and show it somewhere below the speed?)
[Edit] And finally I'd like to see the high slots on top and the rigs at the bottom like someone else posted as well. Preferably with a divider line in between. Great tool! |
