Firstly my apologies not on topic for this forum but this NEEDS to be seen by as many UK residents as possible and I'm guessing there's terms saying no political discussions etc but again this is extremely important for everyone in the UK.Contact your MP today and tell them to put forward a motion for a referendum on the new EU 'treaty' which is essentially the same as the constitution that got slammed by the French and Dutch(?) no vote last year. We were PROMISED this by all political parties at the last general election and almost 100% of MPs, the fact that Gordon Brown has decided it's not necessary makes it all the more important we have this! At the very least they've lied to us (who'd of thunk it of politicians?) at the worst they've handed over sovereign power to Brussels. Democracy doesn't exist. If voting was useful it would be banned  The UK is going down the pan, I myself am currently studying Spanish, and plan to move there asap because of this. The government will not listen, and Gordon "pickpocket" Brown will be no better! |

Those of you with a brain will have noticed that the video is from the UKIP, a far right fringe party dedicated to keeping Britain out of the EU and keeping "johnny foreigner" out of Britain. The party was led for a while by the perpetually bright orange skinned moron Kilroy-Silk.
Why not search UKIP on Google to find what a joke they are? If you can't be bothered, here's just one reason not to believe anything these jokers say:

Biased, yes most probably but where's your counter to what was shown in the video? Or are you just going to attack that party instead of the message? One of the supposed points of the constitution was further opening up of free trading, well the French have managed to KEEP the protection for their farmers, you think that is the only thing that's changed? Like I said it's also the principle of not even being given the vote on it after being 'guaranteed' we would by every political party. So you are perfectly happy for your elected representatives (who only hold power temporarily) to then defer that power to a foreign assembly PERMANENTLY? What amazing benefits are we to gain by 'intregrating' even more into Europe than we already have? More laws, more taxes, fewer rights? Sounds great. |

first, there's an off-topic forum for this stuff.
Second: the UK wins out entirely in this treaty. the vast majority of its terms work strongly in favour of Great Britain. So what if the Dutch and French slammed it?
This treaty takes absolutely no power away from the UK to govern itself. There is no central European government being founded, individual member countries will continue to be self-governing, and in the meantime we benefit considerably.
So I really fail to see why I should petition to my MP about this. As far as I can tell, this treaty is a Good Thing. I'm not in the habit of complaining about Good Things.

Hmm perhaps the Daily Torygraph is more acceptable a source of some info, nice reading some of the comments too, lots of people out there picking up nice little bits of information. Daily TelegraphInfact at this time you can see a post with some quotes from various European leaders saying it's essentially the same document. |

No transfer of political power is permanent. Besides, if you don't like the terms of a treaty, just ignore the ones you don't like. Works fine for the US. |

It's not all you need to know. In fact, the information provided is useless. Useful information would be a comparison between the current state of affairs and the one after the treaty comes into effect. Many things mentioned in the video are already in force due to previous treaties. |
