Perhaps this is just an issue I have, but the new 1000 character limit on the Bio is way too small...
Apparently the latest updates lowered the character limit from 4000 to 1000 in order to prevent players from lagging others. Now, I've never had this problem, but I'm relatively new to the game. I would think there would be a better way to stop this, like only allowing the Bio data to transfer if you allow it.
Some may say, 1000 characters is plenty, maybe. However, when you consider that color changes, font changes, certain characters and even starting a new paragraph all subtract substantially from the limit, plenty shrinks to barely adequate. In addition, I know I like to work a bit of art into my Bio which becomes impossible with this new limit. Here's what's possible (not my best work though).
With the Bio being the pilot's best/easiest chance to develop their avatar's personality or history, I really think the limit should be reconsidered.
Then again, this whole post is 1191 characters, so maybe I'm just long winded...
What does everyone else think? (about the limit, not my wind length...)

Please do not post images, but rather use links instead. Thanks. -Wachtmeister

I hate the new changes to bio and consider it an incredible stealth nerf.

I didnt "back up" my bio and lost quotes and the like that Ive been gathering for many months.

Vote to bring back the 4000 character limit!

Agree with the 1000 character limit thing, not good really, 2000 would of been a better number imo.
I just looked at my bio, which doesnt have much in anyway and now has less.Crying or Very sad

I thought it was too small before.....I barely had room for my giant Texas flag made of bolded and colored "E's."

At one time I had an awsomly helpful bio full of links with all kinds of info. Faction Ships, varius calculators, damage types, ore yeilds, alliance maps...wasn't really possible with 4,000 characters do to the length of some addresses.

...but its not a big deal to me. I'm perfectly happy with my current pseudo-poem (song lyrics) bio.

I love my bio, luckily for me before the patch I actually saved it to a textfile because I was putting it on the back of a I'm just hopefully waiting for the limitation to be lifted.

I must say i like it!

I hate all those coloured things and the limitations might force people to remove a few idiotic things from their bio.

I like to have some kind of info in there whether it be Mission Damage types or a little bit about who I am. What about all those poor role players who spent all that time writing a short story only to find that its been half wiped with the patch Neutral

omg, I didn't even have a long bio at all, just cut an RP section out abuot half way through :(

C'mon CCP, is this some kind of sick joke? You can't do a thing with 1000 chars if you're trying to write some RP with any weight behind it. This post alone is near 300 charectors

I had to butcher the hell out of my bio to fit in the main stuff(hardeners, damage types etc), I dont even have everything in it.

Bio's shouldnt transfer unless you click on show info, I could care less about 99% of the bios out there.

the bio should have enough space to put what you want in it.... if people don't like Bio's..then don't look at them. I personally like a lot of space to put it like i want. the amount you have in it now sucks.... please put it back to the 4000 or even more would be good.

Request a bio section on this website for each player with a limited amount of space. You can post a few pictures and a big lump of text and, at first, take up the link in your bio. If a substantial amount of players create a bio, CCP could add a button on the bio tab so people don't need to link anymore. Why on this website? So CCP can take care of making it work in the in-game browser.

You get even more then 4000 chars for a bio, CCP keeps the 1000 char limit in the place it counts.

In most cases it's useless to protest a recent change. It's better to roll with it and find a new way of achieving the old and perhaps even improving the old.

Possible issue: the pictures, CCP might not want to risk copyrighted or illegal material on their servers, so perhaps only the big lump of text.

perhaps a good way to solve it would be giving players 1000 characters for standard bio - visible through bio tab in show info screen and another 4000 in additional bio... like placing a button at the end of standard bio [More...].
That would open a new window where everyone would be able to put a nice short story.

This way in the standard bio players could put only initial and vital info... if anyone would like to read the story he would just have to click on the button. The additional space could be placed on well... another DB perhaps - that would not cause lag - dunno if thats possible.

+ if that is okay maby just change bio tab in show info screen to [Personal notes] and the button [More...] would be [Bio].

Combine Radix and Washell's ideas, have the [More] button at the bottom of the bio, which loads an IGB page dedicated to that character, editable through the game or just the website...?

doesn't matter if it's editable in game or at the website, if it's on their [ccp's] servers, we can get to it with our login without any problems.

Hello all,

I had an old character that had a very basic bio about her beginnings and what she does now. Even then, I had to crop quite a few sentences just to get the firking thing to fit.

Now I have even less room? With this toon, I put info in to help n00blets (and even some vets), but had to crop that down to a fraction of what it used to be.

I like the idea of linking the IGB page to the bio, so people can choose whether they want to read the info or not. From what I hear, CCP did this to save info space (but this is secondhand information), but HDD space is cheap now.

A better idea would be to shorten the amount of time a trial acct stays on the server (to like 30 days or such). That way, all the space occupied by inactive characters that should've been submitted to the biomass processing plant a long time ago is regained.

In summary, /signed.
