Latest release is now 4.0.2 with the remaining Tyrannis skills for planetary interaction.

Exclamation NEW Exclamation Arrow Join the new ingame mailing list "emsp" for notifications of new releases Exclamation (evemail -> Button [ADD MAILING LIST], enter "emsp" and press the [JOIN] button.)

Blackberry and OTA installation available here: EVE Mobile Skill Planner Download (JAD) or http://tinyurl.com/emspjad

Raw JAR for installation available here: EVE Mobile Skill Planner Download (JAR) or http://tinyurl.com/emspjar

Your device needs to support MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 for it to work.

EMSP uses the new XML API to do the business, so you'll have to get your limited key onto your phone somehow, I used a plain text file that I copied to the file system, then used copy/paste while the app was running.

To load/update characters you still have to go to the account screen and select "Load/Load Characters" after adding you userID and limited key, I'll add this to the main list soon.

It also has support for waking up before the skill completes, although this is a really new bit of code and I'm not sure if it works as it should.

So, what does EVE Mobile Skill Planner (EMSP) do for me ?

  • Monitor your character's skill training on multiple accounts, with online updates using CCP's new interface.

  • Allow EMSP to wake up at a predefined duration before the skill completes (alarm).

  • Get EMSP to add an entry to your phone's calendar for skill completion.

  • Get a list of all your skills and the time that they need to complete to the next level, incase you say "I'll be back in 7 hours, now what ?"

  • Shows how much training time required to each level of a skill, so you can say that level 4 of skill X will take "HOW LONG ?"

  • Edit character implant information, and then you can ask yourself, is a full set of +4s worth it .....

  • And last, but not least, see you get to see my really cool animated EVE logo Cool.

Let me know what you all think, enjoy Very Happy

Running the application on a PC:

You can also run this on a PC using a J2ME Emulator, and it will then use your normal PC's connection to get the data.

EVEMSP goes open source: http://evemsp.sourceforge.net/

See: Sun's Java ME Downloads (Currently "Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.1 for CLDC").
And you will also need a Java Runtime installed.
Get them both installed on your PC, download BOTH the jad and the jar files to the same directory, and you should be up in no time.

No idea, try it and let us know Smile

The application is now updated and in it's current state can be considered a mobile monitor, because I have to implement the untrained skill tree browser.

So as it stands, you can download, view (just about) everything, and I have implemented the code for non pointer devices, so it should work happily on normal phones too, oh the names and skill groups are now sorted correctly too Very Happy.

I would really like some feedback on the current state of development, if it works on your phone/device, what you think could be/should be changed, etc..

The update (now 2.0.64) is available at the same link as in original post.

Version 2.0.64
Tested on SonyEricsson Z800i. Program was downloaded via GPRS directly to phone and was installed without any problem.
On this phone program starts very quickly and work fine. Data downloaded via GPRS. The only problem for me was entering API key manually Laughing I broke my eyes trying to differ 0/O and 1/l Twisted Evil

Good job, Jaabaa!

Tested on an Sony Ericsson K800i

* App seems to install fine and am able to run it :)
* Added my limited key and had my character imported.
* Entered character details.
--> * Skillpoint shown as 1.0113263E8 instead of 10,113,263
--> * Scrolling moves the page two lines down which moves the WIL and CHA lines out of the display (I can still edit them, just can't see them on screen)
* Entering Character Skills.
--> * Groups are shown as blank entries (one time it was just the first 5 groups showing as blank entries, but haven't been able to reproduce that on subsequent runs of the program.)
--> * Expanding any group (both those that are shown as blank and those that are shown correctly) seems to open the skills belonging to that group - alas I can't verify that, because all skills are blank!
--> * Entering Details on any skill doesn't seem to do anything for the moment being?
* When entering Options it ask 3 times for permission to read user data (might be a 'feature' on the phone itself)

Wether or not my phone actually lives up to the requirements I've got no idea of - but it installs and runs.

Shows promise of evolving into a very nifty application :D
Thanks for Your work.

Online installation (not tried it but it should work):
http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/DAW/evemsp.jad

I believe this link is broken...

Went about and made my on jad file and managed to install it with my phone's wap browser by hosting both files myself.

Phone I'm using is: "Nokia6230/2.0 (05.35) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1"

Found a typo: "Deleter Characters"
When I exited the program and didn't allow the application to start up during alert, it threw a "java.lang.SecurityException".

I'm still kinda dumbfounded on how I download/switch between characters from the 3 chars on my account.
As of now, the home-page lists only 2 of my 3 chars. At first, it only listed 1.
The screen resolution of 128x128 on this old cellphone makes it hard to use this application.
Text kinda runs off the screen and numbers overlap graphic elements.

But it's certainly a nice piece of work. Hope you keep on developing this application.

It might be the speed of your phone, it might have still been loading/filling the database in the background.

Upon entering Character Details the layout is fine, is not until I start scrolling that part of the screen is moved some lines down. The top line is 'Details: Erialor Godsen' (missing a 't' in the end might be this causing the line shifting? And caused by the display not being wide enough?)

Not sure if it's speed related - it seems like no matter for how long (well... haven't had it running for more than one hour) I let the app run or stay inside the 'Character skills' the skill-groups doesn't apear.

I don't see any entries added to calendar or ToDo - might the phone not fullfilling requirements - it wakes up the application correctly though Very Happy

[Edit] Just had a thought and haven't tried it out, yet - missing entries might have anything to do with my phone set to Danish instead of English?

I have only started work on the PIM integration, the first part was finding out what categories are available. It doesn't actually add any entries yet.

I'm not sure what my problem is. I'm using a Cingular (AT&T) 8525. I get it to download, install, and even run. I go to menu then manage accounts, put in the name, ID, and the limited key and hit save. Once I hit save the screen just turns white. I can close the program but it seems to still run in the background until I go into the midlet manager and actually stop it. I can then open the program back up without any problems unless I try to go to manage accounts but I don't have anything showing up on the character sheet. I have tried reinstalling it and double checking the ID and Key multiple times.

You have a mistake in your userid and/or limited key. It's CCP's EVE API is returning the authentication failure.

2.0.68 is up for testing.

Added/Fixed:

  • Start of skill details

  • Characters are loaded and sorted on start, ALWAYS.

  • Possible issue with too many threads resolved.

  • Numbers are now formatted.

  • "Found a typo: "Deleter Characters", fixed Very Happy

To do:

  • Add option for small font on mini displays (will be quick hack until I sort out the layout)

  • App no longer resets implants during online update, I have to add an option so that when CCP adds implant information again that this behaviour can be manually switched off.

  • Still add untrained skills view ...

I'm not getting a chance to select characters. I install install and run, it brings up the info screen. The only option I have at that point is to Home. I go there and I have the quit and menu buttons. Under menu I have options, manage accounts and about EMSP. I go to manage accounts and my options are home or add. I go to add which brings up the screen with name/userid/limited key/full key. I fill out the name(entering my characters name), the userid and limited key that I got from the link posted above and leave the full key blank. My only options at this point are save or cancel so I save. It takes me back to a screen where my options are home and menu but the screen is all white neither the home or menu buttons work. I'm stuck now unless I kill the program. I restart it and it brings me to the info screen again with home as an option. I go home but can't really do anything from there.

k, i got it to work, seems like either the last version or my phone appended a space to the key, hence the authentication error. i solved it by copy & paste thanks to a data cable, now there are some more issues:
1) i can't see many of the skill cathegories the char has, the skill list is parially empty. some cathegories are displayed, but they are located at the bottom of a scrolable list, with nothing but blank space before (i'd say i have to scroll about 2 full screens). it seems some cathegories are invisible, as i can select those empty fields and than the skills are displayed.
2) when i choose "character details", the corp name and current isk are overlaping.
3) i cant scroll in the "character details", the screen displays the first four attributes (2 obscured), but when i push the joystik UP or down, the whole information field slides down 1,5 lines and the last 3 attributes are obscured, with the save-and-cancel-bar obscuring the topmost of these three (so all in all only INT, MEM and PER are visible).

Strange, I have no idea why the menu doesn't work, it should give you the option to load the characters for the account.

Maybe there is an update available for your firmware ?

nice!

going to have a play with this planner :)

some api tips : copy and paste the code into word and increase the text size, you should then be able to read it clearly! if you still have problems generate a new key.... might be easier to read!

only probs i have had so far :
- on the char details screen the corp name overlaps the other text... i have a Sony Ericsson W880i so it has a small screen
- not loaded skills for any of my characters.... just stays blank..
- update to above: i have several blank small boxes, when i scroll down the first visable one is navigation, both spaceship command and trade have mahoosive boxes for some reason

i like it, think this might have just found a new home on my phone :)

Maybe a memory issue, I still have to optimize the memory usage.

2.0.69 Now available, with the ability to add skill completion entries to your calendar.

In the thread on your previous version, you stated that you are going to remove the dependency on CLDC 1.1, so we can use it on CLDC 1.0 phone. The new version still needs CLDC 1.1, does that mean there will not be a version for us poor soul with a CLDC 1.0 phone?

When I have this version sorted out I'll look into making a CLDC 1.0 version of it or removing the 1.1 dependencies in the 1.x branch.

just noticed on the latest version if i view character details it looks ok (apart from corp name overlap) but as soon as i move the cursor the entire box/display drops down and you can no longer see/edit the last attribute

keep em coming :)
