OK, Ive been reading a bit in the forums about ECM and there seems to be some conflict on this issue.

Does ECM suffer from being under its optimal range?

I dont see why it should, as it doesnt have tracking, but from my own experiences my multispecs seemed to have real trouble jamming a friend who was parked on top of me. Ive seen people saying both is true, is there anyone out there with a definitive answer? ugh

Multispecs have trouble jamming everything, and they suck capacitor like a fifty pound mosquito. Twisted Evil

Since electronic warfare has no tracking, there is no reason to worry about range so long as it's under it's optimal. The only reason long-range guns tend to like to stay around their optimal is because going further away makes your target's transversal velocity cause you to miss less often.

Once you go beyond your optimal range, you'll get less and less effectiveness, until you won't jam anything at optimal + 2x falloff.

There's no penalty for being inside it's optimal range. At optimal+falloff, i've noticed electronic warfare is usually pretty good at still hitting the target. Optimal+2x falloff is drasticaly less effective.
