Maelstrom Crew Present - Operation Anger Management

2007.06.18 20:40
Maelstrom Crew has declared war on Rough Necks After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.

Targets: Rough Necks & Allies
Duration: Undecided
Client: Withheld
Goal: Destroy ships & Disrupt daily routines.
Reason (if any): Pest annihilation.

Maelstrom Crew step up to the challenge and prepare to march to war against the giant pirate alliance, Rough Necks. Although outnumbered almost 4 to 1 we shall bring them to their knees hounding them day and night and driving them from their home systems until our client is fully satisfied.

See you on the battlefield, good luck to all.. Don't hesitate, we won't.

**** Update ****

We were prepared and ready to hit them hard and fast as soon as the war went live. With our scouts shadowing their positions we moved in and engaged. Scoring the first few kills of the contract within moments of it going live. In the past few days, we have engaged and destroyed a total of 46 Rough Neck vessels, inflicting 1.8 Billion isk worth of damage in just a few days.

The Rough Necks are wary of our patrols and are spending most of their time in their stations reluctant to engage us on any terms. Morale is obviously low and we have intercepted alliance wide mails that show their faith in each other is beginning too crumble.

They are a new alliance. 'Spliffs' headed by 'Killer Chick' is the only corp worth mentioning. Other include 'Eves brothers of Destiny' & 'Spiritus Draconis'.

Molotov Coalition is also currently engaged in a war with them. Should be extra-extra-fun down in Metropolis.

4 to 1 is roughly valid for your corp alone. However, your corp isn't the only one fighting us now is it? You guys are hired help to work with the 7+ other corps that are at war with us helping you out . total outnumbering us 3-2. so when you claim your victories try not to stretch the truth so much. also we aren't a giant alliance, the alliance you're helping is bigger than us.

You guys would never need 15 people to kill 4
Seriously, ask your leader Killerchick himself, his plans for winning the war are (something to this extent) "When they come, just get a bigger gang them then and they'll run away." and "Fight them when they're weak and run when they're strong, docking up won't harm us.". Truth is, only 1 corp in MLTOV is doing most of the fighting, VHI. We sometimes have to get other alliance members to help us when you guys try to out blob us, but when we do, you guys dock up. Also note you have Fimbulwinter, TKO, and other Taff residents helping you guys, even hear KC is planing on hiring a merc corp.Rolling EyesLaughing We could of had some really nice fights but we had about 2 more people than you, making it 27vs25! dockdockdockShocked

Dammit, mods removed KB link :P
But it's the fight in Orf where it was 8 vs 17 and we killed alot more than you did.

I still find it confusing as to why they think it was us who hired you. Clearly we can handle them by ourselves but they refuse to accept that we did not hire you against them. If we did hire you against them for help why would we hide it from them?

Wow, this thread got derailed from maelstorm into the molotov thread it seems =)

For the record: Killer chick is not leader, but he do talk alot.

1. Is it true that molotov is mainly ex lowsec inhabitants that have grazed the green pastures of coalition space to get rid of their blinky status and achived some wealth(going -10 to + or close to 0 sec status) and now feel the need to put pressure on ppl.

2. Is it also true that the RN ships you killed in that fight to a great extent was very poorly fitted compared to yours as well as being lower class ship all in all.

3. Is it then maybe also true that 25vs25 is in no ways close to an even fight when facing a force heavily battle hardened and armed with superior ships and sp?

4. Maybe also true that your having the time of your life picking off 'easy' targets since 75% dosent know jack about war yet, compared to yours where probably 75% knows to much.

5. Might it with all the above be that the odds are heavily in your favour?

Stop complaining when the odds are so heavily in your favour already and realize the smart thing to be doing is to avoid any even numbered confrontation since your side in raw firepower and survivability is probably worth twice that which we can commonly assemble :-)

(Dang, am I writing a tribute to vhi prowess here? :P)

Now, we have guys that are actually trying to learn, the odds given dosent give them much learning experience in the ten seconds it takes them to die. Come back in a month with a new wardec molotov and we should be able to putup a better fight compared to what you get now if that is how you feel :-)

As for moltov hiring maelstorm, I'am not on that side, I have a nagging suspicion on who it could be.

I find it excellent fighting the maelstorm crew(Keep working ^_^), just what the boys need to learn some. Fighting vale is suicide for most of them at this point in time unless the numbers are in favour, evening the fight somewhat.

Molotov is basicly the metropolis/heimatar pirate coop channel inhabitants, some who stood outside the channel have received flak. Killing any known hostile corp coming into our mission space must sure have ticked some of vales friends off to a great extent in their epeen corner. This is probably one of the reasons we are besieged now that most of them fly one banner.

Sorry if I sound rude and you'll tell me its all lies but ^^ Fly safe and all that :)

This^^

As professionals, we never reveal who our employer is unless that is specifically requested as part of the contract. Most of the time, we don't know ourselves, as negotiations are normally done in the double-blind, red-carnation at the supper club in New Caldari, kind of way. I would imagine if Molotov or V-H-I had hired us, they would have no problem letting you know, as they don't really seem like shrinking violets to me.

That said, we are opportunistic hunters, and, if an environment presents a worthy ally with aligned short term goals, well, we'd be idiots not to leverage that.

Its been fun flying with you Molotov. o7.
Its been fun flying against you, targets.

Today's fight (Monday night) was a complete blast. Happy that we came out on the winning side of such a huge fight. I must say that Maelstrom's stated intent of "...driving us from our home systems..." has failed miserably. Also, they (by the looks of things)fell prey to some well-planned counter-counter intelligence, and based on that made assumptions that affected their overall outlook on the war...and how they prosecuted it.

Leaving our home systems? Running out of ships? Not organized enough?

*wink*wink* magmorel

Not likely. Come on back guys, and bring more ships!!! Cool

I like the "omg we're outnumbered 4 to 1!" considering that they're a merc corp and that they definitely don't fight alone.

oh and our kb's indicate a slightly different story ... despite being outnumbered 3-2 (at least) we've inflicted 2.4 billion in damage from you, and sustained 936 million ... while being outnumbered.

math >> misinformed claims. if it was just you guys this war would be over.

Yes we have also noticed some "inconsistencies" with your killboard, aparently quite a few of your death mails seem to be getting lost on the way there, but don't worry. We will provide a detailed report on kill/losses in a little over 24 hours when the contract expires.

It's already been mentioned once in this thread. Were in no way affiliated with the Molotov guys. Any ships of theirs you blow up are of no concern to us and in no way effect our contract against you.

Well I think our business here is almost done. Thanks for the fight guys. Was good fun.

It was a good fight tonight. We knew we were outnumbered and we knew that Rough Necks alliance had at least one carrier on standby, but decided to attack anyway.

We proceeded into their territory with a small fleet of 8 Battleships and 5 Battlecruisers, and sat on either gate, waiting for RAGE to assemble their fleet. We knew that they knew we were coming, and around an hour later RAGE had assembled a force to counter us.

We split the fleet evenly in Egmar, with one half sitting on the Orfrold gate and the other on the Taff gate. Finally our scouts reported an incoming fleet from Taff so the Orf gate team warped their and we proceeded to attack as they enemy jumped in.

Right away we were outnumbered with RAGE forces numbering around 20. Despite this we stuck to our task and began eliminating the enemy ships. Honours were reasonably even in the first 2 minutes as we destroyed 3 Battleships and a Battlecruiser for the loss of 2 Battleships, as our support fleet set about destroying the massess of Einherji Fighters that the RAGE fleet had been assigned whilst our Battleships shot at their ships. Due to heavy fighter presence we lost our 3rd Battleship a minute later.

Then came a period of 7 minutes whereby the Maelstrom Crew fleet did not lose a single ship, and in that time downed a Rohk and 7 enemy Battlecruisers. With the enemy fighters destroyed this effectively wiped out the Rough Necks' first wave; most of their ships sitting at range, unprepared to get close to us.

Shortly after the second wave hit, at around 21:55 the enemy fleet was reinforced by more fighters (I assume that killer chick, the nidhoggur pilot, had warped to the station to get more). Combined with the second wave their ability to damage us grew and we started to lose more ships. Unfortunately at this point lag started to hit us, and that's not a good situation when you have fighters roaming around. Having just finished off a Megathron we decided to deagress and leave the field as their 3rd wave hit.

Rough Necks claimed that they won because they held the field at the end of the battle. Maybe they are right, but if so it was a phyrric victory. We accumulated 1.2bn isk worth of damage in that fight for the loss of 0.6bn isk, moving our campaign efficiency from 69% to 67%. Furthermore we estimated that between 20 and 25 Einherji Fighters were destroyed in the combat, at a rough market value of 400m isk (no doubt killer chick will firmly deny this).

Thankyou to Rough Necks for a genuinely enjoyable fight tonight. Current campaign damage has risen to 3.6bn isk.

The victory was ours because

A) We held the field.

B) We got the loot.

Most importantly, of course, is that your stated intentions- to "...bring them (us) to their knees ..and...drive them from their home systems..." -were not achieved. We're there, and you're not. Confused

Lag affected us as much as it affected you, so that was also a non-issue with regards to your defeat in that battle. You actually lost because you were outgunned, and because your ECM was primaried and eliminated early.

Props to you for fighting anyway...but truth is, your contract's goals were not achieved because you underestimated us (and bought into some brilliantly staged false intel, if I may say so myself *pats himself on the back for his writing skills*). Smile

You guys really weren't all that bad. Cheers for the fights!

Firstly with regards to the fight in Egmar on the Taff gate tonight, that was awesome.
Secondly with regards to Rough Necks, props to you guys for providing targets not afraid to shoot back. You have some good pilots, sxndy, kraknall and vim for example, pilots who lost multiple ships and still fought.
My only goal in EvE is to have fun - Ive certainly achieved that.

Not to disrespect any that have not been mentioned (we can only base these opinions on what we remember), but I would definitely add Ken Plante to that list. Good pilot, never afraid to bring it. His ship losses are mainly because he is consistently first into a fight - much respect Ken. o7

It was oh-so-much closer than reported, far as numbers go...

As for me, I have a very simplistic view of fighting battles in EVE; the guy still standing at the end is the winner. We're still in our little nook of the universe, we've already replaced all ship and mod losses, and corp wallets look nice.

All I can say to you Kirex is, NEXT! Smile
