I'm wondering if I messed up my attribute assignment. I didn't really know a whole lot what I was doing when I created my guy. I want to create kind of a well balanced guy that can create some cool stuff quickly, work out good deals with agents, and when he's done creating stuff, he can go out and blast people apart with it if he wants to. Are my attributes going to prevent me from doing so? If not, will it take a whole lot longer to train the skills I need?

My points are:

Intelligence 11
Perception 5
Charisma 8
Willpower 8
Memory 13

What do you guys think? Did I mess up and should I start over? Or will I be OK to do what I want?

Most people value the stats like this: Per - Mem - Int - Wil --------------- Cha

Basically, you want your Per/Mem/Int/Wil to be quite even, and then low cha. It all depends on what you want to do though, I guess your stats are quite nice if you intend to go into industry. Your perception is very low though, if you don't have too much SP (Skill points) already I'd suggest you might create a new one if you want to do some fighting later on.

Hope that helps.

Sure does, thanks. I've put something like 5 hours of online time into this guy so it won't hurt too bad to reroll.

Yeah, like was said try to go balanced.

In the long run it doesnt make that much difference, what you train slow due to low attributes, there is something you train fast due to high attributes.

There is a lot of cross over in eve with skills and stuff

Just cos you are a miner doesnt mean you dont need to be able to tank, or use drones to kill NPCs, or train engineering skills for more power, or capacitor etc etc

Long run, doesnt matter all that much

i would re-roll though.

Yeah I'm gonna go balanced. This'll give me an opportunity to change my last name, too... not too happy with it :p

Thanks for your help guys! You've saved me lots of skill training time :)

For a fighter, I have heard that it's Perception > Intelligence > Willpower > Memory > Charisma.

Of course, since one can without too much trouble get a +13 boost to all stats, and a +10% to EVERYTHING (your original points, and the +13/attribute boost) your starting points are rather moot after your character establishes himself. You start out with 39 points, but can almost triple that total without a huge amount of money or effort (and can get your stats even higher if you want to).

Just don't go sinking all your points into charisma and memory, and I'm sure you'll be fine. ugh

OK. I'm getting frustrated. I just tried to make a new guy with his points as balanced as possible. Instead it turned out like this:

int 14
per 9
cha 6
wil 7
mem 9

What I wanted was skills that were nearly equal the entire way down. Int > Mem > Per > Wil > Cha. I don't care if charisma is low but I'd like to give it a teeny boost. So why the hell, when I get in game (and I'm none too please that I now have to wait 10 hours to get my character's name back), when I think I've got it... does it shift like that?

Can someone provide me a template of choices for a Caldari that will give me my desired result?

That doesn't mean much because that score includes your Learning skills you started with. Find out what Learning skills you have so we can see what you really have.

I'll look at my learning skills after work and post them here before 6:30pm pst so you can check em out.

What numbers should I be shooting for, for a character that is a mix of engineering/industry and combat, anyways?

Or... lol... or are those numbers I rolled actually what I need for what I want to do?

OK my learning skills are:

Analytical Mind Rank 1 Level 4
Instant Recall Rank 1 Level 2
Learning Rank 1 Level 1

OK. After going thru character creation a couple times I've realized that my new build, the guy with 14 int, is pretty much what I'm going after in a role-playing and gameplay sense. So I think we can consider this issue closed. Thanks for everyone's help again.

How does one go about getting this +13 boost to all atributes?

Level five in your basic learning skills, level four in the advanced skills, and a set of +4 implants. With the addition of implants better than +4, the prices on +4s has come down a lot, making them much more affordable. +2s are cheap as heck now.
