Having just browsed the recruitment forums I'm shocked to see what players have to go through to join various corps.

I personally play EVE for fun and relaxation to get away from real life hassles.

We require references, in depth interviews, mandatory operastions etc, I'm losing the will to live reading some of these posts.

Any corps out there in 0.0 that still treat EVE as a game to be fun and free of real life or am I being over critical.

No wonder there are more carebears and long standing players going back to empire corps or starting there own, at least you then get the freedom to enjoy the game as you want!!!

Most of those corps are trying to stop corp thieves from coming in and stealing all the corp's assets and TBH near enough all corps i apply to look at my corp history and laugh until i explain it all tothem at which point they are fine, EVE is neither a game or a job its a virtual world where you can do as you please aslong as you face the repercussions so people tend to treat it like they do real life which is one one hand good but on the other hand bad as it is only a game after all.

If the corp recruitment requirements are too strong there are corps out there that are less strict but wait until you see the kind of players they end up with :)

The references no doubt are because of spies/corp thieves. Eve is a game, but we have to earn our toys and we don't want some dishonest fellow to take them from us, at least not without a fight.

The potential damage for a player to do to a corporation is fairly significant so many corps like to be fairly thorough about who they recruit, especially when operating in 0.0 as a huge amount of effort is often invested in assets and organisation - btw this IS fun for many of them hence them being there.

Joining a empire based corp would probably be alot easier, especially if its the first corp your joining?

You can join us, check the recruitment section for the Trainwreck INC. thread.

You're not allowed to shoot anything, just ISK farmers.

Other then that, I don't care.

It a security thing.

If you have nice corp assets, and you dont use solid security, your assets WILL be stolen.

Even if you do use solid security, many corp assets are STILL at risk, but at least the risk is reduced.

Its that simple.

I agree with the general conceus - the corp I recruit for ( Jose Quevo is my recruit-alt ) upholds a pretty tight interview-process just to eliminate possible 'frauds' and 'corp-thieves'. So far it has been worth it.

One of the challenges of being in a 0.0 corp is that you encounter people who are obnoxious griefers, saboteurs, spies, or who you simply don't get along with. If you don't have some kind of screening process with your recruitment, then you're headed for a world of trouble.

As for mandatory ops and so on, I guess it depends on what you're trying to get out of the corp/alliance that you're getting into. If you want to be part of the biggest and most successful territory-claiming alliances, it's reasonable for them to expect you to support their territory-claiming activities.

Agony doesn't do mandatory ops, although we do have a limited number of mandatory training exercises. But given that all of our members love to learn, this isn't a problem for us.

I guess the trick is (like with choosing a job) to pick the organization which places demands on you that you'll enjoy meeting. As Jack Welch said, "Establish a career doing something that you love, and you'll never work a day in your life."

Usually in the recruitment posts the corporations ask for things opposite of what their corp is full of: they require good pvp participation? Assume that they're full of slacking carebears.
