For old people like me, the number of *()^ing mouse clicks required to play this game can lead to repeptitve use injuries. That is, playing this game makes my wrist hurt. I know, I know, cry me a river. However, this is really about improving the user interface. There are many places where there are unnecessary click repetitions. If you can think of some more, please add to this list.

I'd like to be able to reload all weapons of a type with the same ammo. If I'm in a sniper BS, for instance. I don't want to right click, then left click, for a total of 16 clicks to put the same ammo in all my weapons. I'd like to be able to right click, left click once to select reload all new ammo, and left click once more to select the ammo type.

I wish the research/industry screen would at least retain my last used settings or default to the present station. If I'm researching BPOs at a POS, I have to continually select current solar system to get to the pos.

I wish I could start several identical jobs, regardless of type, in the first available slots. So, if I want to invent on 3 of the same BPCs with the same exemplar modules and/or decryptors, as long as the jobs are the same, I'd like to be able to highlight all the jobs, right click one, configure it, and have it launch them all in the first available slots. Similarly for modules that I'd like to manufacture 100 of. Similarly for trying to run copy jobs at a pos so I don't have to trudge through all the slots when it's quite clear that one is available.

I wish I could, from my wallet order interface right click for view market info to make it easier, faster, and less clicky, to see if I need to adjust pricing.

I wish mission information windows included the agent name and location.

I wish there was a way to switch locked targets from the keyboard.

I wish there was a way to make the overview not suck from the keyboard (gratuitious, I know, but who could resist?)

I'd get into the mining issue but that's not just user interface, there are game play mechanics. On the other hand, who cares if I auto eject ore into the nearest can. I doubt pirates would complain about the easier theft opportunities. While we're at it, how about auto hauler pickup, too. That would end all complaining about macroers since there would be no need for a macro. ha ha ha. OK: nevermind on this one.

I wish I could steer my ship with arrow keys or something other than hammering the mouse left clicky for crap response time and less-than-certain precision of direction.

I wish I could achieve the same effect as setting a waypoint, hitting warp to zero on a gate enroute, right clicking overview to set the gate as the first waypoint and then hitting auto pilot repeatedly without having to click all over the place to achieve such a simple feat. I understand that WTZ is for use by people who are at the kbd, butdo they have to be at the kbd and make 20 mouse clicks per jump? The alternative of WTZ, right click, left click to jump is hardly any more efficient or less clicky.

You should be able to set custom orbit or keep at range settings on the fly without the ridiculous steps required to accomplish that at present, clicky or not.

Take more breaks from the game and maybe your wrist wouldn't hurt so much.

Cut the crap, you pranksters!

This is serious. Too much clicking is neccessary in all of the Eve UI. Finally give us decent keyboard shortcuts already! Mouse navigation is so 1995.

Please. We don't want a chat program with nice graphics, we want a usable space game! Every single function should be accessible by keyboard, it just makes handling so much nicer. Mouse is for easy no-brains access types, but you've stated yourself that Eve is for a different audience... Please, there are some of us who don't mind learning 80 keyboard shortcuts, if they make us more efficient.

In the new graphics engine at least?

*begs and prays*

I'm even willing to send tons of nice and cold bree your way!

But now I'm rambling,

huh? are you saying that you want to WTZ and then use the auto-pilot to insta-jump when you hit the gate (even though manually clicking "jump" is often faster), but then turn off auto-pilot after you jump so you can WTZ to the next gate?? you already have some much less-clicky options:

1. click gate, click WTZ, click jump (3 clicks per system)

2. click gate, click WTZ, enable auto-pilot and disable it as soon as you jump (4 clicks per system) (if using hotkey for auto-pilot, 2 clicks and 2 keys)

i would be suprised if you (or anyone) actually do ALL of that set-waypoint stuff instead of the simple 3 clicks... it sounds more like you made up that extra-clicky series of steps on purpose.

I remember once upon a time, you could use slash commands in eve.

Stuff like /jump and /autopilot and /dock.

I vaguely remember CCP saying that they didn't want EVE to be a game of "whoever can type the fastest." Unfortunately, it's just turned EVE into a game of "whoever can click the fastest." No matter what, you have to have input from the user into the game. Whether it be a mouse or a keyboard. I think CCP was just attempting to knock down us 80+ WPMers so we have to click just like everybody else. I don't have a huge problem with that but...

There are certain things about the interface I'm not a fan of. Drone control via keystrokes is probably the largest thing I am sticking my neck out for. Drones are so friggin ******ed as it is, and having a few keystroke shortcuts (ctrl-R-1 through 5 is an idea for return to dronebay). There are other keyboard shortcuts I'd love to see as well, but that's the biggest one I want to see.

I'd like to have a long and serious talk with the person responsible for the research/industry GUI. It takes 11 (eleven) zomg!!!111eleven clicks to invent one thing, 13 if you use a decryptor.

No thanks. That's one of the few "playerskills" experienced players have as an advantage when engaging someone less experienced.
Players that aren't used to PvP often find it hard to reload fast (if all), manage cap, transvestal, drones ect. due to the huge adrenalinerush caused by PvP.

You want to be able to start a miningsession, go AFK untill you can haul a jetcan full of ore to stn and start over? .... right.
I'd approve of this if CCP made it so that all my buy and sellorders update automaticly so didn't actually have to work for my money.

You think it is painful to click the mouse alot and you beg CCP to alter the game rather than go buy an ergonomic mousemat?

As much as I'd like to see fewer clicks in a lot of places in the game (manufacturing/invention for one, and definately drones!) we're simply stuck with them for a basic reason....macros.

Macro programs are getting more and more complex, and the easiest way to fool them on certain things is more clicky. Mouse recorder programs exist, but are only reliable up to a point (4 or 5 movements/clicks unless they've improved from my old SWG days when we used them to grind medic/doc/CM) and after that, they tend to loose track. How does this matter to me you ask? There are macro programs for almost everything now, from mouse movement and clicks to text input and calling keystrokes. The keystroke one is the main reason that next to no keyboard commands exist in EVE anymore. And all can be looped together with proper timing. Imagine a character sitting in a station botting manufacturing...not hard to do if the technology will allow. Loop calls to your keyboard to open manufacturing tab, then the mouse recorder makes all the moves and clicks, and starts the job. 15 minute job, and your bot can do 5 jobs? loop it every 3 minutes. Congratulations....you've successfully wasted 5 slots in a station for a whole day unless the server dumps you, and the whole process only takes a few seconds to complete. Come back and take delivery and be happy, while everyone else waits for slots. Problem is, with the mouse recorder and a loop, you can do the same thing without keyboard calls....that's one reason you have to wait in game to do some things....like manufacturing. Open your Science and Industry tab....the little load bar will never take the same amount of time twice in a row...completely random. Whether or not it's actually gathering server info is inconsequential.....it buggers up the timing of macros. So we all get to walk a fine line between too many clicks and too long of waits...all to prevent the dishonest and lazy from getting a leg up on us.

Sad, isn't it?

I agree, it's not easy enough to run macros. Please make it easier for people to have artificial input, if we can eliminate enough clicking and gui complexity an entire functional eve toon could be controled from a simple script!

It's brilliant, no more mucking about with programatically moveing the mouse or interpreting gui or magic needed, simply dump the cursor in the input box and the script can bang away with perfect timing.

Genius.

Hahaha I just imagined running all that and more from keyboard. I'd buy G15 on that second, then macro thru missions 23/7, auto-looping them after they are finished.

And think of the macroes, fellas with od names (like the op Laughing) would love this, would make macroing more and more easier.

In short; no.

Your name is odd. I don't macro. My wrist hurts, but for the wrong reason (all Eve).

Plenty of room for clicks and weird timing without having so many.

Please fix it!

Id stand for drones just freaking working first, then once drones actually function with some semblance focus then improve the ui for them.. FIX DRONES FFS.

You have to admit, this game shows its age with a lack of UI control. No game is this limited in control. I remember when the Eve user interface was deemed innovative and slick.

It's downright clunky as hell right now. With no modding abilities, and no real control to input.

I was sorely disappointed at the inability to reload all weapons, or deploy drones or tell them to attack targets.

No button to cycle through enemies on screen?

Most MMOs assign that to the tab key.

Eve-Online in this regard, is positively archaic.
