Today I finally acquired the last part for a new PC I've been building and got it up and running today.

However I'm having a problem with one of the sata drives. My system currently has two...

1 80 Gig drive on Sata 0 that has the OS - This drive works perfectly with no problems.
1 300 Gig drive on Sata 1 that has nothing on it and is partitioned into two 150 Gig partitions.

Installing anything on the OS drive works as normal with no problems. When I try to install anything on the larger drive (either partition) after a few minutes I get told nothing can be written to the drive and it basically seems to disappear from the OS. I can't access it from the file manager or any other means. A quick reboot brings it back.
The drive is visible in the bio and I can add simple text files to either of it's partitions with no problems. It only seems to disconnect when I try to install something large (i.e. games).

Anyone has any advice or information it would be welcome as I'm fairly stumped as to what it could be except for a fubared drive.

If you haven't already, try updating all your motherboard drivers to the latest versions, particularly anything relating to the SATA controller interface. If this doesn't work, you might want to try the drive on another computer as it could be a hardware issue.
