Me

I have an IT Background with focus towards enforcing Contractual Obligations, investigation and audit focus (some 5-7 years) which has given me an objective ability to risk my own reputation by upsetting my own employers when necessary.

I'm also very good at working with technical people, as well as reporting details back to a group.

I figure I'm as good a canadite as any. I am actually going inactive to beta test WAR, and can easily get time off work. If it hadn't been for dev dishonesty I would likely be playing both.

I have been involved in several beta test, understand the MMO model, and can get information out of people without them saying a word (body language tells you more than words some times).

All that said, I'm not very well known, dont have a stake in any alliances, and represent the empire industrialist. Many of which are quietly sickened by the precieved wrong-doing of CCP.

Firstly, is CCP serious about this oversight committe? becasue if they are, having the players vote is the wrong way to go about it. Powerfull 0.0 alliances can motivate/force their members to vote for their 'ticket'; and forgive me if i'm wrong, but is'int it issues with powerfull 0.0 alliances (and their alleged underhand contacts with DEV's) which is the root of this mess CCP now finds itself in?

If CCP really want to have an effective overshight committe (and one trusted and respetced by the playerbase), they need to approach this from a different angle. Plenty of players have axes to grind on this issue and a committe engaging in a anti BoB witchhunt would be as bad as one made up of their senoir non DEV members (and a few 'pets' as a sop to the rest of us).

The approach i'd like to see is have interested characters submit RL CV's to CCP, with reference checking etc.....just like in a 'real' job application. The nine committe members would be a mix of techies for DB/gameplaying issues (T2 lotteries and node crashes come to mind Embarassed), and a mix of others with HR and organisational structures/management experience (CCP really need to build some sort of 'Chinese Wall' system internally....). I'd propose 3 of each, with the remianing 3 being selected 'at random' from the general player base. Oh and to make it even more transparnet, have an external consultantcy firm run the whole Oversight Committe Recruitment process, so no accusations of favouritism/rigging etc. can be leveled at CCP.

My suggestion, would be to have a rotating oversight committe. Could be selected by 'lottery' rather than 'voting' on an annul basis.
Anyone, considering themselves upto the job, would notify ccp of their interest, then the said 'lottery' would take place.

Furthemore, I disagreewith selection of an applicant, purely on the 'names or faces' that are present on the forums, that would be foolhardy. I also feel, that applicants to any audit body, should have a minimum of +2 years in game. This would in my opinion generally allow a widespread of applicants, with commensurate knowledge.

The people that make up any eventual body, will be to an extent, auditng ( in it's loosest meaning), an international business. With respect,I'm afraid that saying a bunch of stuff on a forum, or knowing things about a game, doesn't equate to that level of required experience.

The other option, is to call in 'proper' auditers, that can make a true account of ccp. This report could be made 'available' to us unclean masses to ponder.

Is this an honest attempt to to become more 'transparent'.. or a bit of spin/PR?

*snip* Dont discuss moderation -Eldo (mods@ccpgames.com) That's simply not the case. I think it would be one of the obvious choices, as he has the biggest interest to find out what's there to find, if there's anything.

That sounds awsome, would anyone agree to a debate on the forums? Not with me of course, I'm to chickenSmile

And if so who would you like to debate?

But you can not have CCP look at their applications, we have to do that, the best way I can thing of is have them debate on the forum, so their anonymity is saved but we know who they are that way.

Is there 9 spots?

If so then I'd suggest 4 from alliances and 5 for unaffiliated folks who have a strong desire to raise lots of questions for CCP and not fanboys who would just treat the trip as a factory tour.

A mixture of new and old players would be good, and I'd rather not see the 'celebrities' (Forum junkies) automatically getting nominated just because people know their names.

Gomh Sabbah is the number 1 person I'd nominate...He's genuinely funny, mature, intelligent and hard-faced!

simple reason, any normal person cant do this stuff, even if he knows how to do an audit. hell, ccp made this game and they have it difficult tracking this stuff down. why would a bunch of random people be able to do better?

Because its about saving their image and restor confidence, not actually change anything. . . Sorry to be honest, but this is damage control, not change.

The main problem with the idea that the community votes is that most of the people who are well known in the community are already very influential with CCP. This is natural and in no way wrong - but I think if they really wanted an unbiased group of 9 people, they would draw them out of a hat and send them an eve mail to reply to. If you respond, then you get the job - a random cut, not some PR campagne to 'win our hearts and minds'.

Well, I'd be interested in the opportunity. If CCP is reading this topic, it has been pointed out that a player-voted group may be biased as well. The powerful alliances could vote in someone that isn't exactly perfect.

There should be some qualifications:

Business management experience

No ulterior motives

Lots and lots of free time

An ability to remain neutral, friendly, and profesional

A good sense of humor

The ability to drink beer.

I nominate myself as it would show CCP cares about the arse end of the world by flying me 38 hrs from Australia to participate. Furthermore I would be so jetlagged as to not make head or tail of what I was reviewing, unless of course CCP offered me a stopover in my country of choice Laughing Lastly I am open to bribes from the major alliances, so vote for me Very Happy
