Tech 1

Large shield extender:
+1875 shield hp
+25 sig
150 pg
40 cpu

800mm plate:
+1500 armor hp
+1,875,000 kg mass
200 pg
25 cpu

Tech 2

Large shield extender II:
+2625 shield hp
+25 sig
165 pg
46 cpu

800mm plate II:
+2103 armor hp
+1,875,000 kg mass
230 pg
28 cpu

Seems odd to me that the HP values are so different, when a) shields benefit more from higher HP, and b) the fitting reqs are so similar. The only explanation I can see, is just that mid slot modules tend to be stronger than low slot ones.

because armour is all round better and armour gets 1600mm plates and i want my extra large sheild extender of +5000 hpness that i can fit to my rohk and make it tank double what the drake can!

The plate equivalent of a large shield extender is the 1600mm. There is no XL-shield extender.

they need to introduce XL shield extenders that use some 750-1000PG [so crusier dont fit them]

then they need to introduce 3200mm plates that take 1250-1500PG [again to stop crusiers] and give twice the HP

that will permit BS to more passive tank, at the mo they cant really do that

In that case there is no XL armor plates either...

Because it is.

Shield and armor tanks are completely different beasts. If there were major issues with balance between the two I could understand bringing up this topic, but there aren't.

Numerical symmetry isn't always a good thing.

Midslots are also more valuable in most cases than lowslots. You can get by in PVP with a few lows, but you can't without several mids.

I have trouble believing this given how low the fitting reqs are on Large Shield Extenders. 1600mm plates take 3 times the powergrid of a large shield extender.

large shield extender = 800 mm plate.

just like

Large shield booster = Large armor repairer.

The biggest problem is they gave the large shield extender 375 more HP than the 800 mm plate. The reason why this is a FACT is because all other plates and extenders line up perfectly.

Shields do not get an equivalent to the 1600mm plate just like armor does not get an equivalent to the X-Large shield booster. This is called balance.

The original poster is correct, large shield extenders are not in-line.

same as shields do not have a passive all-resist hardener, armor does not have a repairer amplifier etc.

there are differences yet both are prety much balanced (aside from BC passive tanks maybe).

i hope they never ever make bigger extenders... atm passive tanks are UBER sick... and whit bigger extenders.... well... too stupid imo
