Are the Shanghai positions intended for locals, or for people willing to relocate to China? I would have assumed the former, but the blurb on the jobs page seems to imply the latter.

Do you allow telecommuting? I'm in Houston and would not permit myself relocating to "provincial" place like Atlanta. Very Happy

Open positions require relocation, except in special circumstances, such as already working remotely. Sorry, but you have to go where the job is, especially in some of the more technical positions.

What, no Eve openings in Atlanta? I don't speak Icelandic.

To be honest, neither does half the Reykjavik staff. However, some of the positions in the Atlanta studio are EVE related.

bah so a 17 yer old is unlikely to work for you guys then????

It is a possibility, but only if you live in the region of the studios. Legally, we cannot be responsible for the welfare of a minor not living with a parent or legal guardian.

Relocation to the region of a studio such as Shanghai may be offered, but offers will be extended only after a case-by-case review of the applicant, applicant's position, relo expenses, etc.

While I cannot say we won't open a studio in Austin, I can say the chances of this occuring are slim and not something I would hold my breath for. We are happy where we are at, it will only be a matter of time before the other game companies start opening up studios in Reykjavik or Atlanta. Besides, we do have a studio in Shanghai already! any possibility of more information about the Shanghai offices? As someone who who has lived there and is at least conversational in Mandarin (and also plan on relocating there anyways for other job oppurtunities) it would be interesting to say the least to see what kind of oppurtunities there are.

I guess they are not looking for electrical engineers fresh out of college. I am mainly power quality and controls engineer...

I am sure they will not have a problem finding people though.

If you did, you would need to take a serious paycut.

No no telecommuting? That's unfortunate. I really don't want to leave my friends and family to move to iceland.
I'm a SQL DB/C#/Asp.Net/Python guru with 10+ years experience and believe I would be an asset to your team.
If you find that you are not receiving the applicants you desire, perhaps consider re-considering the telecommute option, as it has a proven track record of productiveness.

ps - I have not applied as of yet.

Salary ranges- CCP's salary range for the various positions are in-line with the (gaming) industry standard for equivalent positions. Take a look at industry-specific information sites such as Gamasutra for those ranges.

Is that including the test specialist jobs? Very few games companies give the level of duties indicated in the ads to testers*; 15k p/a for automated testing, document reviews and test script/case authoring seems pretty ridiculous.

*in my experience, your results may vary.

I've been living in Seattle working on games in various aspects of the industry for the last six years and I would love to move to Iceland. =)

I'm looking at multiple positions that have been posted. Since it is requested that I place the title in the subject line, should I send an email for each position I'm interested in applying for? Otherwise would it be better to send one with a subject of multiple positions and then list the titles inside the email body?

Also is it appropriate to attach any supporting materials such as letters of recommendation, and example work?

Thanks

So, relocating...

Will CCP take care of finding a place to live? Relocating expenses? What about developers that have family? Like I do, for example. :)

And how strict are you with experience in game development? I have plenty programming experience, however game development experience is limited. :)

I would be interested in helping translate EVE to my native language (portuguese). Not exactly as a job or rather not seeking pay or anything of the sorts. Its just that i like trying out new ventures and just had this idea of translating.

A bit OT, i know, but i still would apreciate a reply. :)
