Are all missions timed, have to complete by a certain time, like 8 hours?

What are the max and min times to complete missions generally?

If you start a mission are the timers based on playtime while logged in or are the timers real time meaning I can't start a mission that I can't complete in one sitting?

Mission timers are based on real-time. The basic reward time is fixed, afaik.

You can always see the timer dead lines from your Journal in Neocom.

Notice that the bonus timer is based on the statistical times how other capsuleers perform with the mission - so the bonus timer varies from time to time.

Also Down Time will reset the mission 'rats, so... some dead space missions have to be (are better to be) completed in "one sitting".

Once you have asked for a mission, you have 7 days to accept or decline it.

Once you have accepted a mission, you have 7 days to complete it - enough to try a mission, figure out you can't make it, train up more skills, and still do it.

For the mission bonus, you'll have to complete the mission within a certain time. How long you get depends on the difficulty of the mission. It can be from a few minutes (for a quick trade mission, or a courier mission in the same system) to many hours for combat missions. Failing to do the mission within that time means you won't get the bonus; there are no other negative effects.

(this is all based on real time)

I have heard that in some "chained" missions (those which have a part 1 of 3 etc) you have 7 days from accepting the first mission to complete the final one.

In any case, look at the "expires" time in your journal.
Word of warning: agents get slightly cross if you talk to them about a mission but then neither accept nor reject it for 4 days.

If you find a roid field in a mission... does Down Time respawn "mission roids" ?

Yes. quite a few people crank out lv 3 and 4 missions in order to get the ones with the omber roids so they may have their own personal roid belts for a week or so.

Keep in mind that the mission will ONLY respawn if you have NOT completed it (gotten the green "objective complete" message in your journal) Otherwise all the pretty roids will go *poof* at downtime. Some missions are impossible to farm this way (usually the one-room spawns) others you can farm every day for a week.

Also when it respawns, all the rats respawn along with it, so be prepared to clear out the room again before you go in with your miner.

You'll still have to deal with the occasional rat popping in (same as the normal belt rats for that system) but otherwise its a very secure way to mine.

Also important: Do not try to complete a mission requiring you to turn in something right before downtime. Downtime wipes any floating wrecks and cans Arrow They won't respawn and you can't complete mission.
