ok to put it simply you can go into a shop/store and purchase items using your LP/RP
RP can purchase datacores (as is now) along with T1/T2 BPC's
LP can purchase implants, ships, modules, ammo, etc

please stay on topic
flame all you like it still doesnt detract from it being a good idea

That would actually be nice.

But give the different factions different prices. Say Amarr gets cheap willpower implants but expensive Intelligence, relative to other factions.

The LP store is already planned. And is a good idea.

I don't recall what, if anything, is going to happen with the RP. Other than, whenever I read 'RP' my brain says 'Roleplaying Points? What the hell are those?!'

RP are research points, they are earned by doing missions (or nothing at all)from research agents.
i did not realise that CCP had plans of this being implemented in game.
im glad you thinnk its a good idea, most of my other ideas are just insane.

What would be the point in Research then? a whole section of the game replaced with a shop? Enter the RP farmers........again.

Yeah, but right now you have to farm in order to get a ticket for the lottery. Statistically it's the same if you wait long enough, so farming = win in both cases. But since most people don't want to wait 1000 years to receive their fair share of BPOs, I would completely endorse changing research to be based more on choice than chance.

If research was changed to be a bit more activity based (missions, whatever) so that you don't just accumulate points over time, the store thing makes perfect sense. Or at least reduce the randomness, as in you tell your agent to research towards a limited run version of the blueprint X, but when he achieves it is at least slightly chance based.

I dont want to see BPC's for t2 items being bought directly with RP, you should still only be able to get the datacores with RP. It would however be nice to be able to rent labs from the agents for RP, You cant find a copy slot to save your life anymore.

I like the shop idea, Was never a big fan of random drawings. It would be nice to see each corp has some special things to sell that nobody else has.

I disagree.

If we make it so everyone get there 'fair share', everyone will be makkin T2 items and prices will gradually drop to the equivilant of their T1 couterparts. Then eventually everyone will end up with the same kit. Not only does this remove the goals of an Indy corp and strips them of any reason for playing EvE, (because lets face it, T1 kit is all over the place and holds no real profit unless your in deep 0.0) but will make combat somewhat boring. It will end up being a game of numbers rather than skills and equipment, and tactical positioning.

AND!! The research method does make it possible for everyone to get their fair share. You just need to put in the work. But if you want to do PVP then and absolutley hate Indy side of the game, (ie. mining/manufacutring) then your outta luck. Because basically what your saying is you want to be able to get T2 BP's without ever touching anything that even has a remote whiff of industrialisme. And to be honest i think your being totally unfair to those that dont do PVP in the game and prefer the economical side of it.

RP - for t1 BPC's and datacores (t2 through invention only?)

Could always make the bpc's that are bought have flaws where the ships built need more maintenance as they are used. Like a Cerb made from a bpo would be a Cerb-A and the one made from the copy a Cerb-B.

The Cerb B would have serious flaws if repairs aren't done on it on a regular basis.
I could see a pirate going to gank a miner in a Cerb B. "Hey, why is only 1 missile firing?!?" "Damned now the hyperdrive isn't working!!! Chewy go fix the hyperdrive!" Then you hear Pop! Miners drones just killed the Cerb

I agree, it means only those with huge amounts of RP can buy them and nobody else even gets a look in. Those who already have lvl5+ agents get huge RP for each mission while those still working their way up get pitiful amounts. Those who don't even do research missions, have no way to get a T2 BPO and they lose out as they did with the lottery.

The only way to make this fair is to seed the T2 BPO's and make them available at a price or available for RP just as a normal offer would be.

Next time we have a lottery, make it fair to everyone. Pick a random character name out of a hat and then check if they are still active players. If not, pick another name. The T2 lottery did nothing but spawn a load of research alts.

So what happens to LP already earned? Do we get it all lumped from the lvl1, 2 and so on agents we've worked for or are we expected to start all over again?

I'd be a bit annoyed if I had to start over now that I have earned a fair amount of LP doing lvl 3's.

This is mentioned on the "Drawingboard" page (in the "Patch Notes" section) but that's because it needs updating - something very similar to the proposed feature is being implemented as we speak and should be appearing on TQ Soonish™. There'll probably be a blog about it at some point but rest assured we're doing our best to ensure that nobody has to "start over" with anything :)
