This feature is long (LONG) overdue.

Your customers are screaming for proper dual monitor support, why are you not listening CCP?

Eve has so many windows and so much information that it simply CRIES for this feature.

Which feature you ask?

Fully positional windows and task bars which can be positioned in any place over the span of two monitors.

I agree. I use 2 monitors myself and would find this invaluable.

Its not that simple. Multiple monitors are generally achieved in different ways, depending on your graphics cards, drivers, etc.

Providing support for this with 100% perfection on all possible multi-monitor setups is not easy. In fact, it is sodding complicated.

As I understand it, CCP did used to have some basic multi monitor support in EVE, but it was buggy, and caused more headaches than it solved. so it was taken out (it would take up a huge amount of GM support time to deal with the huge number of people trying the feature out, then whinging that it isn't 100% of what they expected... and this would still happen if CCP added it as a quiet, undocumented, unsupported 'beta' feature to be used at players own risk).

I see your point Sturdy and fair enough but the same could be said for walking around in stations or any major new feature yeah?

There's 10 pages of supporters in this thread alone,

yet I don't see a single response from a developer or anyone with any authority taking the time to reply to paying customers (unless I missed it).

Not particularly good customer support.

It woudl go a long way just to implement a way to shift the focus to the left 25% or right 25% point on the screen, instead of right at 50%. This would at least allow good use of horizontal span mode, without splitting the ship at the seam.

Also, DirectX handles multiple drawing surfaces very well, if the program is designed to use them. Performance might be degraded in XP, and depending on your drivers, but it would work well for the 'secondary display' requests (moving non-3D windows to the secondary display).

I use EVE in fake full screen on 1 monitor with SHIFTWINDOW, a free software that fit the "Windowed mode" client like a Full screen. It is fantastic! I can play eve and use other monitor without eve-minimizing.
I think is possible open 2 client e fit them on both monitor in fake full screen.

Sorry for my English.

Please eve devs, at least let us know why aren't you responding... this looks pretty bad!

They have, and they are looking in to it. Not sure how much work it needs etc. It would require a very large revamp of the UI which means other matters get a lower priority if this where to become the FOTM.

A hint: read the CSM minutes. Will save you a lot of poasting ideas that already have been suggested, and you get an idea of what they are doing.

Id love to see this implemented just simple drag and drop functionality in a black window on the second display.
Hope it happens.

/signed. Dual Monitor Support is a nice feature that adds no lag/load to the server and imho a "must have" of an up-to-date spacesim-sandbox.

Multi-monitor support, i.e. I'd like to drag a window of the EVE map to one monitor. A view of my toon WIS on another and a market window to a 3rd monitor.

This is a must for a game which just has soo many things you want to have open at a time.

I agree that this feature is long over due. I would also like to see a way to increase font sizes in the UI (not the chat boxes), as I don't like to sit a foot away from the screen to read things.

Thank you

I would ask is it worth the dev time to implement a feature when so few have dual monitor setups?

I'm not disputing they are out there though I do question their number to make such a feature worthwhile.

Fix the fonts to be scalable before even doing multi monitor stuff, fix the basics before adding glitter.

I have 2 Monitors, I don't Dual Screen Eve because its pointless.

However if the functionality were to change tot the OP's sugggestions I'd Bother using eve on Both Screens !

Whether its viable or not is not the communities business, We come up with the project, CCP Workout if they can implement it :)
