This is my main complaint with CCP.

They don't fix simple stuff like this, but they got X amount of programmers working on "walking on stations."

We got the same bugs for 3 years but no, lets integrate Vivox with Eve.

Its not just CCP either, I've noticed that none of the MMO companies fix bugs, they just keep adding stuff. I guess fixing bugs is unprofitable.

I think we just need to ask the right way: make it seem like an uber-cool new feature that they can show on the cover of Eon, instead of just a common sense fix that makes sense for anyone who actually plays the game...

e.g.:

Dear Oveur,

I propose the cover of the next Eon feature an article titled "Look Who's Zoomin' Out!"
In order to achieve this pinnacle of bleeding edge gaming 'features' you will need to hire the programming equivalent of the entire region of Mumbai to entirely rehash the existing client (release name "Dragon-Killer I".

The rehash will automatically allow for view to zoom out to a pre-set distance from the players ship, post any jump or station exit. Don't worry, this will of course be just to achieve the maximum 'cool, look at the shiny new graphics on my Arazu' effect rather than actually be a useful feature to those jumping into a bubble camp and attemping to exit without being WTFPNZRD!111.

JP

According to the backstory, our 'POV' in-game is via 'camera drones' which send info back to the ship.

If this is the case, then would not the drones have to be re-deployed on every jump/undock?

I hate having to zoom back out every time, but I just use this to put it in a RP perspective and it makes it a tiny little bit less annoying ^^

That "camera drone" story is just an old wives' tale. Everyone knows the exterior view is computer generated based on your ships sensors and projected directly onto your retina. The drones would be way too vulnerable to ECM and other types of attacks (not to mention the lag of getting a replacement deployed!).

CCP, please fix the zoom reset!

Way back when I was assigned the job of corp hauler monkey the fact that the zoom settings would reset after each dock drove me nuts. When Kali came out and it happened on each gate jump I nearly plotzed. Whatever that means. I very much hope that the zoom setting remains after session change what is was before the session change.

Things i'd also like to see, being able to zoom all the way in on a frigate when im in a battleship. I used to be able to see my drones while mining =/ No I get to see X's.

I think CCP does a great job overall. Nonetheless fixing this annoyance would be greatly appreciated. Why not just let it stay set at whatever it was last? This can't be all that hard to do.

/signed by a real-life user interface designer. I get paid to do this for a living.

While they're at, make every action in the game mapped, bindable event so I can use only the keyboard, touchscreen monitor, trackball with 20 buttons, whatever HID I have around, etc. I should be able to fly with any device I have in my possession, as long as I map appropriately.

This is the heart of good interface design. Let the user decide what button performs what event. Every one is different. Their interfaces should be, too.

Please fix this CCP, i'm getting RSI from all the zooming out, no seriously I am!!!! Also Its a right pain if you jump into a camp, you lose split seconds calling targets
because of this.

Just two more issues to push this to the top of your "fix list"

Thanks

If I'm understanding things correctly that have been "hinted" to me by people that "may or may not" know these things this "might" be addressed in the "Kali 2.0" patch.

Now I'm dizzy... And my hand hurts from rolling my mousewheel...

This is probably one of the single most annoying things I first discovered about Eve. Once I learned that it was preferable to have the camera zoomed out for pretty much everything except screen shots of my pretty ships, I started zooming out all the time.

For 0.0 travel, hell even for Empire travel I like to have the thing zoomed out. Also, I have a 'sweet spot' for the zoom that I prefer, and it is different for each of my characters as they fly different types of ships.

I lose it every time I jump. Grrrrrr! I bought a very nice logitech mouse that lets me flick the wheel, and it will keep scrolling pretty much til I stop it. It's nice, but it doesn't get me back to the same zoom I was at before.

In the grand scheme of things this may seem like a small thing, but I find it extremely annoying. I'm glad others feel the same.

On the same note, the problem with the map when undocking or jumping is really annoying as well. Sometimes I would prefer to leave my system view open instead of fp view. Can't jump that way and have it stay please? Or at least make it so it doesn't jack the view up, and just resets itself if you do jump with the map up please?

Thanks
