This proves that the Eve community whines no matter what. Razz

A completely useless items that does absolutely nothing is removed after a year, and people whine. Razz

Your argument is stupid. There are tons of "useless" things in Eve such as the corpses the OP mentioned. Why not remove them all also seeing as how they are "useless" and do "absolutely nothing"?

The fact is that they were removed to cut down on petitions from people that were moronic enough to get themselves Concorded for reacting to a big mean snowball. The Eve I knew and loved would have never removed existing content to protect idiots from themselves, but it's easier to just nerf it out of existence. So thatís what they did, and tough luck to those people who were enjoying them.

We knew the reason, and we reject it as being lame. Or is the objective to turn Eve into a grief free game?

Going to get rid of jet cans also? How about any and all scamming? Let's make ore theft impossible while you're at it. After all, we can't have content that might possibly be used in any manner to grief someone. Better get to work on the suicide high sec BS problem and maybe put some sentry guns in low sec also. Can't have any nasty gate camp griefing.

Remember when you guys grossly overreacted during the last stock scam and had to be reigned in and reverse yourselves? Have you forgotten already after that we don't want a heavily bumper padded playpen where nothing bad can happen? Have you all totally forgotten what made Eve so different and better than every other game out there?

You deleted content to protect people that are stupid enough to get themselves Concorded from a snowball? Wow man, just .... wow.

You can reject it as lame all you want, but it's not going to change.

Snowballs were never a part of the original plan for eve, their introduction caused nothing but headaches for the support staff.

So rather than fix what is causing the problem you just remove them all together. That's not very good software practice, what next? Are you going to remove drones because they cause problems rather than fix them?

So rather than spend time balancing the new patch you'd rather CCP recoded the database to add a new item type - non-aggressing weapon - which doesn't make you flashy red?

I have not logged on to see what exactly happened, but if snow balls are gone, that is annoying. It was a commodity that had an isk value, now it is junk (give me a HAC for each snowball I lost, and we can call it even :) ).

If there was an intention to eliminate these, it would have been much better to announce that it will be happening in 2 weeks. This would have allowed those of us with snowballs to distribute them and have one last good blast with them.

Its kind of like here in the U.S. the liberal democrats want to have a separation between church and state, but if you suggest that they should then work through the Christmas break they get the vapors.

Does anyone really give a rats ass about snowballs, they were fun for like 6 minutes.

2 things here

1. I think this is kind of silly to have snowballs in the first place, it's fun and all but it shouldn't be a priority.

2. I'm more ripping the way things are handled. Why isn't there any feedback from bug reports? This is a black hole no one knows what happens to any issues hence the support back up, and the big hammer fix rather than using what would be a correct fix. This happens numerous times, hell I'm still waiting for petitions to be answered from August on bugs.

What does that even mean? Did CCP steal my snowballs? If so, I curse them vigorously! If you didn't want me to have them, why did you give them to me last month!?

What next? Will targeting someone you don't intend to fire on be petitionable? I ask because I've seen a lot of noobs fire on people for that reason, only to be instagibbed by the fuzz. Sheesh, I know you guys want to get more new players into Eve, but do you really have to go for the lowest common denominator here?

If they have been changed to unusable it's really a matter of which shade of black and white you prefer, they aren't in the game anymore for any use. It's answers like these without addressing the real issue at hand which is really lacking in most of your forum posts.

Can you comment on why the incorrect over stepping solution is used rather than fixing something so it's still useful?

Can you answer us why there isn't any form of feedback for those of us who choose to file bug reports?

Wow. First you guys went on record to promise us "something big" for the holidays, failed to deliver it and then never said anything else about it and now you're taking away last year's gift?

I anxiously be awaiting your decision to remove the ability to rename cans things like "FREE STARTER GEAR" in Empire to protect stupid people as well. Don't forget to take away the ability to remove stuff from other people's cans in belts so there is no more "can flipping" to get people agro'd to ore theives.. Rolling Eyes

You know, I also enjoy my Vagabond. I've used it to cheese off a lot of newbies who didn't think it was fair that I could shred them like that. Are you going to melt it, too? If you do, be sure to create a totally new database entry (something totally worthless) and give that to me in exchange. I'll think it's CUTE!

*Phichi hands Snarls McGee a valium, and a tissue. I'd rather have new kali fixes and features than a new "gift". And I would rather the support staff spend their time answering petitions that pertain to more important matters than some asshat that is baiting noobs in jita. Take your self righteous bull**** elsewhere.

Damn man, stop whining about the damn snowballs ppl! it was a cheap gimic, designed for a chuckle by the dev's around the winter holidays season... As the dev's said they were never really intended for the game, so WHY take the bloody snowballs so seriously!!

And if your reeeeeeeetarded enough to pay silly amounts for the snowballs then ROFL!!!!11one to you. Your stupid stupid STUPID *bashes head on keyboard* fault!

No, i cannot comment on the steps taken by game design. Only a member of that team can.

As for the no feedback of bug reports, it would take too much time to reply to all the bug reports so we generally don't do this. I can assure you that every single bug report IS read and action is taken on every bug report.

I also think this was lame of CCP and hope those responsible for how this was handled get a good kicking.

I can easily accept CCP removing them from the game, but CCP deliberately chose not to give warning of this change in the patch notes. Why ? If they had, players would have had fun in having a final snowball fight to give snowballs a good send off. CCP seems to have chosen to amuse themselves at the expense of players rather than amuse the players ?

When we have no verification that a bug is actually being looked at or even that the bug report has been received that causes more problems then it would if you were to hire a team to actually do bug reports correctly.

I work with stuff like this every day I understand the difficulties in doing this but at the end of the day it is about what's best for your customers, and having them wondering is clearly not best.

A good decision by CCP. They had no place in EVE from the start, they should have melted a month after last Christmas in my opinion.

A month after creation, no biggy, we would've had fun and enjoyed ourselves.

But people have KEPT these, not just through neglect, deliberately kept and collected these items.

The addition of a line AFTER rendering the snowballs useless was awful practice, if you'd given us ample warning no-one would've complained.
Add to that an INSULTING description change, and you're really testing my patient with this game.

Putting aside that I disagree with you about removing them at all, releasing them and telling us they will poof in a month would have been fine.

Releasing them and at some point saying "these are going to poof in the next patch in a week or two" also would have been fine.

Making something people bought, sold, collected, and used worthless overnight without notice = not fine.

A bad decision, poorly implemented, and ineptly communicated.
