I've thought about this one i think...

Drones currently have a coupla issues in my mind.

1) "Scout Drones" skill range bonus is broken. Currently the range bonus reads 50, while the description says 10000m. This should be a really simple change.

2) Drone health doesn't update properly. Its a bit of an issue, as atm i use a dominix, so would replace drones when they got seriously damaged.

3)I can only attack with drones, there should be an "Orbit" function . Orbit function, together with "look at" would enable me to use scout drones for well, scouting, especially if the range mod above was fixed. Would also let me orbit the drones around a friend so that i could quickly respond if he got attacked.

4) Drones repair mod. Allows me to repair docked drones. Mid slot. Kinda like an armour/hull repairer.

5) New types. Are we gonna see repair drones soon? What about Energy neutraliser drones? suicide drones? (Like missiles but slower and more manouverable) "tug" drones would be cool too.

6) Bring back the other Mining drones! Need something beween harveys and basics...

Anyone get any other suggestions to help these much undervalued members of eve?

One thing I would like to be fixed/changed :
size of drones window is reset each time you launch drones, or gang. It is really irritating...

I think the drone interface itself is quite basic. Here's my suggestions:

How about having drone "fire groups" within the drone window where a user could drag drones from one heading to another(like we do bookmarks) and just click the heading to select the whole group.

Why is it that I can hold ctrl and select multiple individual drones in my drone bay but not in the drone control window.

Particularly concerning mining drones - when a a bunch of drones are asked to "return and orbit" and they refuse because they are already on their mining run, that command should be queued as the next thing they do. At the moment you have to time the command so they're on their return journey, this can be quite difficult if u r close to the roid (or am I wrong here - unlocking the roid seems to have no effect either).

I like the above suggestions too.

Totaly agree, it can be very irritating.

The idea of being able to group the drones and have them orbit another object would make using them hell of a lot easyer.

Also, why are we limited to a maximum of 10 drones that we can control at any one time?
I fly a Thorax for mining, and can carry more than that. It wouldn't be so bad if i could recall my mining drones, within 10k, so that once they were docked i could then dispatch the combat drones as needed, but at the moment have to wait till they are on a return trip, and keep my fingers crossed that they don't get popped before they return.

Use the shift key to select multiple drones from the control window.

It is queued. I used that feature a few times yesterday and it worked like a charm.

All drone commands should be instant, not queued. If someone is firing on me and I want to grab my drones and bail, an emergecy 'dump all ore and dock now' command should definitally take precedence.

The reason why we can only control 10 drones is quite simple, system/client lag. Launching 10 drones is like having 10 frigates orbiting you as far as the CPU and memory usage by your computer. That's why when camping a jump in point pirates deploy all their drones as well, to really lag out your client.

CCP said they gonna try to reduce the amount of computing power needed for the drones, but that won't be in till probably the Tech 3 update sometime in Febuary :(

CCPRIchard is the guy on the DEV team that does the tweaking of the drones btw :)

They really need to come up with some more drones skills for speed, damage, acc and weapon range increases. Hopefully in the near future they will implement configurable drones. Drones that take up 500 space but contain slots for weapons and modules Twisted Evil

We had kicked the idea around to DEV's on test server but havent heard anything as of yet.
