Setting stencil to 24 bit zbuffer and my present interval to interval one has solved the vast majority of my crash issues. Was able to play for about 2 hours before crashing. Crashed just as I warped to a pos, but still. two hours.

check corp hanger
check secure cans
check eve mail
click on objects in space
undock (random)
check blueprint mat / run levels
jump stargates
check market
play with contracts

quiet frankly im only left with the following abilities

how much fun im having in the game oh my.......

my problems have nothing to do with my drivers or my sound cos i play with sound off and lowest possible settings to reduce ingame lag. Its to do with the poor testing that was done before releasing the patch or you wouldnt have so many people wondering why eve is locking up like it is. If it was my systems fault then i would not be able to play half of the games i listed above now would iRolling Eyes

I get Eve (Not responding)

Not exactly sure why but heres my pc.

Quad Core Q6600, 2.4ghz
3gb ram
2 x 512mb 8600GS nvidia cards running SLI
Vista Home Premium
Its brand new, All drivers are up to date. Why should I play without sound, I like to hear explosions!
Please note I am playing with premium graphics, but the shadows and bloom at None.
Still looks pretty....

Seems to play ok for 3 hours of so then, not responding.
Tried Classic and that played fine for about 6 hours, then I had to go to bed! So is it premium and how can I help get it so that it dont hang the client. then ultimately the pc, as I find that that is what happens

Hello All,

So i think i am having the same crashing problem that everyone else is having. I have not seen any support/GM post in this thread to suggest possible fixes so where did you guys get your fixes from?

How many people actually fixed their problems and what did they do? I think we all want to play eve and if there is anyone out there that has fixed the issue, please post to let the rest of know. We want to play too...

Thanks...

Reading through the boards I found a post where a person changed the anti-aliasing on their graphics card to 2x. I tried it out tonight and my client has not crashed <knocks on wood>.

I found the tip here

Hope this helps others ...

COME ON PEOPLE, if you get crashes/display driver stopped responding messages, post your

classic or premium client, CPU, GPU, GPU memory, system MEMORY, Operating system version, whether you have HDR/anti aliasing enabled in eve or driver settings and so on

AND ESPECIALLY POST THE CRASH/EXCEPTION OFFSET (and eve version) as it helps to differentiate faulty hardware from actual EVE issue.

And always remember to send crash report to Microsoft because that's actually more helpful than whining here.

here's mine :

q6600,2 or 4 gb,8800gt/1gb, premium client, vista or 2003 when pae disabled (/execute /nopae, no nx in bios), xp and vista drivers, anti aliasing 16 csaa (had crash even with it off)
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00055396 (and 55398)

someone said that with VS 2008 installed it crashes. I have it installed, but no crash in 2003 with PAE enabled.

It was suggested that some crashes occur if anti-aliasing is set to other than 2 (multi-sampling). I've not test enough hours yet but so far no crashes with this setting.

Microsoft goes through all the crash reports, by hand (they have a team), and figures out where the problem is. If the problem is with a driver that passed their QA or DirectX, they may address it for their update (or QA program). If the problem is with a software product that was registered with their "Designed for Vista" or similar program, the 3r party developers get the crash report, notification, etc. At least there is an option of getting those. Not sure if that last part applies to EVE Online though.

End users don't get notified though.

Hi,

If possible, we would like you to please capture this issue while running the logserver.exe program.
Here is a detailed article on how to do that http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=120

When we have this information we will hopefully be able to determine the cause of this issue.

Hello,

I'm sooo tired of going link dead when
1)jumping systems
2)docking
3)undocking
4)using mission dead space gates
5)randomly opening market

but I can mine for 2 hours with out a single disconnect.

I have upgraded my Radeon to the March 8th drivers and its still doing it. I had an option of basic or advanced driver and I chose the advanced driver. I'm still told my computer is not set for premium graphics according to the EVE log out page.

Any other suggestions? and no turning off the sound is not viable, its one of the reasons I came back to eve.

Getting sick of this tbh..

System
Windows xp Pro (Updated)
intel core duo (E6300)
NVIDIA 8800gts (Last drivers v169.xx)
2 GB Mem

Classic Client. Single/Dual account always crashes after some short periods of time. Logically this wasn't happening before last patch :S

1) Settings: audio off, eve voice off, station environment on.

2) Heavy decrease of FPS in space, animation stopping when opening a window, long systeme loading times after jumps. always pauses 1-2 sec to activate module

3) Memory leak. Accumulate additional memory for jumps.

4) Client crashes by chance. I got 1-2-5-10-15 minutes before crashing

5) Setting: reload client after crash = on. Client when crashes sometimes gives error messages but they show so quick that i can't see what they are.

Increased the fan velocity because was thinking it was the heat. Problem continues.

changed affinity to CPU1.... problem continues.

Updated all drivers that i could remember...

Already sent dxdiag and logserver files to CCP :S

Hope this helps... this is just a game (great game). As a costumer cant say the same about your company act.

Realtek released new drivers earlier this month and february. After having installed these, EVE seems to be stable with sound on again, ... at least so far. Might be worth the try if you suddenly experience freezes again.

Realtek download link:

Just to give some feedback, it has been a week now since I updated those drivers and have experienced 0 freezes since. EVE is perfectly stable again for me.

It happens in space when you press Esc.

Anyone know why or how to fix this problem, it tend to crash the client to desktop when in windowed mode.

Taj, I've reported 5000 crashes to Microsoft. It's not like they come to your house in Connecticut knocking on your door with a scroll of computer printout paper and say, "Heyyyy, glad you're home, now listen to what we came up with...." whining here gets what people need, instant feedback and maybe understanding. Im no fan of whining and crying, but we are all paying fees for this game, and it sucks when you cant get in there and lose your Drake on a level 3 mision....

I knew this wasn't my computer's fault. every other game i put in here works fine now that i got a shader capable card, but EVE since the patch is just giving me fits. It's scary to start the game and then go out into space , hell, lately i cant even find the undock from station button before zap!! EVE crashes to desktop. Damn.

Hi all,

setting the cache size to "off" completely fixed the issue for me.

I dont know why, i was only able to see that the crashes occur cause of a memory leak between the GPU-Northbridge-RAM components.

I am also not sure if the "cache-size" refers to additional reserved HD Space or RAM.

Anyway since its on off i got almost 30% more frames, no more lag when opening cans and no crashes.

Maybe only a temporary fix but i am happy with it, you may try it, too.

my Hardware Spec:

Intel Pentium D805 (OC to 166 FSB)
2 GB OCZ 4-4-4-12 DDR800 (running on 667)
Gigabyte Turbo-F1 MB with onboard SB Live 24Bit
HD: WD Raptor 76GB
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia Gforce 7900GT

running Eve Trinity on 1280x1024 with full details but without HDR enabled and Refresh Interval on Immediate.

GL

Sincerelly

Wataru Amnesia

Edit:

It is not the holy grail for all issues but it helps pilots with an older hardware but high RAM.

Some general technical data:

It seems many crashing issues and memory issues are linked to Intels Northbridge, to be exact the problem hides in the memory control interface.

For further investigation it could be helpful to compare with AMD machines (since they got the memory control interface directly in their CPU-Core).

My Assembler Skills are not high enough to fully understand the output of the dump i got, but in general it means that the control interface can not manage fast enough the Swapping of Eve-Data between the physical memory-standards.

I whouldn't like to be the one getting that file, you can reduce the size on the file by spending as litle time as possible ingame before you reproduce the bug, when you see the bug occur and that it gets logged on the server, symply quit EVE and go from there.

That would be simple if it were a constantly reproducable issue, but its intermitant session changes and UI usage that is my problem. I can go a few hours with no problem and then boom, I cant change session. Or the game hangs and it takes something like typing in the chat box for the game to tell me OOOHH hey, your connection has been reset. I've linked some of my logs via webspace so the GM's can look at their leisure (zipped naturally)
