Also you should check in with the corp CEO to make sure they are indeed corp thieves so people don't blacklist those who someone has a vendetta against, or just to be a @$#. |

That thread is locked. People have not just been added to this list. As you will see if you read the entire thread and the list at the top. Booster Terrick is a player of very high regard and is not bringing rl into the game. Its the people who are thieves that are complaining about being called thieving scum or worse cause "its a game".

Actually I'm not bitter at all, but your cavalier attitude about it shows your level of maturity. I realize it's a game, but while your principles stop at the door to EVE, mine don't. I treat people the same way in this game that I do in RL, so save the pointless jabbing and trying to "get my goat". CCP does too little to punish criminals as it is, and to the contrary, creates an environment where they thrive. For the "law abiding citizens" in EVE who generally mind their own business, there is little recourse to be had against thieves, scammers and gankers who "have fun" at my expense... What this game needs is an overhaul in its treatment of the criminal element, making it a bit more realistic...so far it's a pathetic joke. CCP does a very good job at replicating a dynamic economy, now all it needs to do is create an environment that doesn't leave all but vindictive asshats "out in the cold" when it comes to a form of justice. Corp theft would be very difficult to write code for, but I think a redesign of the current bounty system (let's have CONCORD assign bounties based on notoriety, instead of players footing the bill?) and docking fees imposed on negative sec ratings would do for starters. For now, if I know of a corp theif, I'm going to tell people ingame or out of it. If you're juvenile enough to try to drag my ingame reputation through the sewer, then so be it. People that know me will tell you otherwise. Regards, Booster. |

A couple fo thoughts for the conversation:
1. People do care. Don't judge opinions on this very small section of the Eve community that are loud in the Crime and Punishment forum... Loud people often make the mistake of believing that because they only hear the echo of their empty voices in their vacuous heads that those voices are the opinions of the masses...
2. Like anything, the negative folk will abuse a website of this nature if it comes to exist. It is part of the 'gremlin' mentality that many corp thieves have. There would have to be a system of assessing the validity of a claim. This process should, if possible, not include the opportunity for flame wars. :) Perhaps something simple as only letting corp CEO's make new entries using an IGB and each entry checked to see if the corp is legit.
3. Corp thieves are often very crafty. Blaming the victim for the crime is both not very helpful and also not very accurate. Here is a paralell. A person gets drunk and drives the car down the road. They are so drunk they drive up on the footpath and kill a person walking there. Should the person be blamed for not protecting themselves sufficiently from the chance of drunk drivers killing them? I mean walking on a footpath only feet from a busy road...what do you expect. Sooner or later someone was going to kill that person...
Not to mention, even if the corp is open and trusting with it's new corp members, it is not the act of a criminal. Stealing from them is, even if there is no mechanism within Eve to enforce it. Simple.

If you join a corp to play with people then why steal from them? I am a pirate also doesn't cut it as you can also throw "Honour amoungst Thieves" back. What it comes down to is in game or out of game stealing is stealing. Being a pirate / or a dishonest sort is fine. But treating others with respect is what is required and IMHO it is clever or cool to steal from a Corp or friends and it is not a laughing matter.
But hey who I am to complain and no I am not a Carebear. |

While this is respectable you have to realize that it is indeed a game and no one is required in the least to behave with any shred of decency or morality. If this was a rl circumstance then yes I'd agree with you that it's not exactly the best deed to be proud of but this is all EVE. As for the thread itself... you've got the idea, but its not large enough to be comprehensive. The people you have listed are big-time thieves and any large corp would be easily able to spot them, while the likelyhood of a small corp recieving one of them is slim due to their numbers and size (gotta be curious when out of the blue some many-month old player with loads of ISK wants to join your corp). Plus there's litle money for them in small corps. So... meh. GL and hope this goes somewhere but for now... just meh. |

Thanks Zardenim and I agree its not large enough and as the original post says its small but its a start and its growing. It will take time but at least its a start and this thread contains references from players detailing the crimes. These things are then able to be verified. Yes the big names are there but remember not everyone (as much as the scum would like) knows them so they do need to be listed. The ones you don't or would never hear about are now starting to appear and that is the purpose. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will get the time to be able to make this into an website. Deck |

if your trying to keep a list of scammers/thieves in the eyes of the public have you ever thought of trying to sell the list. all you have to do is post a link in the sells forum. Where as you offer to sell the list for a measly 100isk or so. With the posting rules you would be allowed to bump your thread daily, foever keeping it in the limelight so to speak.
Just a thought. |

Edited by: Father Lazarous on 20/01/2007 11:06:15Hmm, this is all very interesting -BUT- I ask the CCP Mods this... ...as we are being listed by DeckardIRL, can a list be started of who has been stolen from as well that the people on DeckardIRL's list can add to? Surely it can't be one rule for thieves and another for victims as we are not allowed to add the people concerned... |
