On Thursday, 4 January, Tranquility will undergo an extended 24 hour downtime for external network infrastructure changes and database server software updates. We do not expect the changes and upgrade to exceed 12 hours and hope to allow connections to Tranquility sooner; however we cannot guarantee network stability or connectivity until after the end of the scheduled downtime.

Users that log in before the end of the scheduled downtime will be playing 'at risk' and will not be reimbursed for losses incurred by upgrade related issues.

We apologize for the inconvenience the extended downtime will cause for some members of the community and encourage training a long duration skill.

Will the mail bug be fixed?

Will we finally get the Exclamations replaced with real pictures? They said it would take a week, its been a month.

Will there be a client patch? Will the year-old warp-bubbles-not-affecting-emergency-warp bug be fixed? Will the aggro timer bug be fixed after two years?

He's made it pretty clear there that it's not the game software being updated/maintained.

The only change I expect to see after this DT is improved game performance (less lag). Which in itself is worth extended DT IMHO. Maybe they prepare the databases for some upcoming new features as well... In any case, rock on and good luck!

At what time will this downtime start? Are we talking, 11 AM Thursday to 12 PM Friday (including Friday's daily downtime)?

In which case... why? The mail bug has been around for weeks now, and CCP themselves says its fixed in the code--why not deploy a small patch to fix it? I'd happily sacrifice a few hours of downtime to get that bug fixed.

After all the downtime when are we going to get a free day?

To all the 'oh its only bleh amount of money'

I don't care :) i pay to play not to be unable to play due to extended downtimes. Over the past two months we have lost about 3 days of play-time due to downtimes...

And to any dev who says that expansions are free - if they weren't you would loose allot of customers so its not only good for us, but good for your company.

There will not be a client patch deployed during the extended maintenance period on Thursday. There will be a patch later in the month to address issues remaining after the Revelations deployment, such as the e-mail notification issue.

What's your PayPal address? I'll send you $1.45 for your 3 days of "lost" play if you're unable to read the EULA which states "While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play."

would be great if extended downtimes could be announced a bit earlier in future.

Why not be honest and say you cannot guarantee network stability or connectivity after the scheduled downtime either? Hell, its part of the EULA:

I think it's time for CCP to give us money back for those offline days. I don't care that there are only 50 eurocents, it's my money and I worked for it. There are too many extended downtime pediods lately.

No downtime, no patches. And if you don't have patches, you wont get any new content or bugs fixed.

You really can't have the cake and eat it too. Or do you suggest that CCP try to jam all patches into the 1 hour daily downtime, or even have no daily downtime at all?

But I would not like it if they patched game code this soon after a holiday!

I know how things work because I'm a programmer, but ... I really don't care about it as long as it happens on a day that I paid for. It's not about the money, it's about respect.

WHAT?! if you log in before the 'official' end of this DT your losses will not be reimbursed?

Why not do this:
DONT START THE CLUSTER UNTIL YOUR *REALLY* DONE!

You guys know DAMNED well that people are going to petition, so why put yourselves thru that aggravation and even make asinine statements like that?
