Subject: Re: My ISP can't tracert to EVE server from East Coast

I'm in the Los Angeles area, Verizon is my DSL provider. They said they have port 26000 open. I would have posted on the EVE website, but you need a character to post. That's a bit lame since I can't log on and can't have a character, can I now? How about "you can post if you have a username"? Here's the message I sent to EVE support: "My ISP, Verizon DSL, reports that they cannot do a tracert past the 13th hop, 166.63.217.6, and that happens to be one of your servers. It makes that hop, but fails right after that. Contact info was given as baddi@ccp.cc, Sigtryggur Sigurdsson, Phone 354-511-4999 (no country code listed). Can you please tell me why I am not logging into the game? I even downloaded the 460MB full client. Same problem. I try to log on and get "The connection to the server was closed" as a message. The server is shown to be up, +3k users. Kindly assist. Thanks!

Is anyone from the USA having problems logging in? I am a first time user.

They might have it closed do to possible attacks on their servers?

It is actually very common that you cannot tracert all the way, many firewalls block that... you should still be able to connect though, but it probably doesn't have anything to do with whether the trace works or not.

Note that I have not done a trace myself, so I cannot really tell whether it should work or fail.

Edit : Since he is a first time user, the problem might simply be that he hasn't applied the patch. I had to do it manually the first time...

Filing a petition would help, I think
Let him e-mail support@eve-online.com.

Should be of more use then posting on the forums.
