This is a mission runner. It is only a mission runner, and is only intended to run missions. Yes it sucks at PvP. Shoot it's not even epically good at missions either, but it should, if nothing else, be at least weird.

Hurricane

6x Dual 180mm Autocannon II
2x Salvagers

1x 10MN AB II
3x Large Shield Extender II

6x Shield Power Relay (II if they ever come out with them)

Pros: 500m/s, 200dps+, 150-180 Sps tank, Cheap

Cons: 0% EM resist, 2.5 Eps

Over all, it should be a pretty solid lvl 3 mission runner. Even with the low EM/thrm resists, very few lvl 3 missions get above the 150 dps needed to break even the EM tank. With the AB it's handy about missions, and the dual salvagers/tractor beams should help with looting, if you are so inclined. If not, there's still plenty of grid an CPU for any missile launchers or nos you might want.

Any thoughts?

Drop the AB and an extender for 1x Em, 1x Therm. Problem solved.

Of course, it begs the question, if you're going up against Sansha or Amarr in such numbers, why are you doing a shield tank in the first place?

I would drop 1 extender and put 1 invul field in perhaps 1 PDS over 1 relay if caps a problem with the afterburner.

Shield tank a ship that has 6k armor and 70% resists, even more with t2 hardeners, all around. I think not :)

why dont you just go....

6x 720mm II
2x Assault Missile Launcher II
------
3x large shield extender II
1x invul field II
------
3x PDS II
2x SPR I
1x Gyro Stabilizer II
------
5x light drone II

gives you 17613 shield HP with a 459 seconds total recharge time on the shields.
At peak it will be 95.7 hp recharged per second. Note: It'll tank 138 DPS on the lowest Resist.

And the Tactic Wink is to take out the cruiser sized ships with the 720mm II's and let the drones and missiles handle the frigs.

I have similar ferox that I made for my 3 mil SP alt to help her missions / tank 0.0 rats.

Ferox:

Highs:
Missiles of your choice
Mids:
5 x Large Shield extender II
Lows:
4 x shield power relay I

She has over 120 hps raw shield recharge. and 70% explosive resistance. In my area angels are main rat type, and she can tank a 3 BS spawn of angels indefinately. Usefull as a tank for mining ops. Usefull as the new salvager type of ship for complex runs as well. Usefull as a decoy when hostiles arrive. They shoot her expecting easy gank, and 16000 hp shields just keep going and going while reinforcements arrive. Just plain usefull...

I might be being drastically stupid here, but 17613 / 459 = 38.37 ?

Peak recharge = base * 2.5

38.37*2.5 = 95.925

Oh right, how does that work then? When IS the peak recharge? Is it when the shield is low, or around 50% or what?

30% IIRC, around that area anyway.

I have been using this setup very effectively for 0.0 ratting serpentis.

6x 425mm AC I (cant use T2 yet)
1x tractor beam
1x Salvager I

1x 10mn MWD
1x named webber
1x Invul field I
1x Large shield Extender II

2x Gyros II
2x Shield Power Relay (named)
1x Inertia Stab
1x Nanofiber

1x Med drone
3x small drones

No matter what, i can kill any spawn before the shields drop below 30%. If i can finally make some shield rigs to raise the resistances for Thermal and Kinetic, i might throw in a 2nd Large Shield Ext II. And cap never runs out :)

I am not sure if i will use a passive shield tank for pvp, but with NOS-ships and my lazyness i am going to try out passive shield tanking, once i have a 2nd cane and shield rigs, in a few sparring battles to see how it works. For that i was thinking to use an active EM resitance amp and rigs to raise the other resistances.

5x650mm scouts. 3xarbalest heavy missile launchers.
2xLarge Shield Extender II. 1xInv Field I(will use T2 soon) 1x10MN AfterBurner II.
6xShield Power Relay II.
3xCDField Purger I

i have Engineering 5
and shield size/regen skills on 4

309 regen (max) can tank:
412 EM dps
1030 Explosive dps
686 Kinetic dps
515 thermal dps

if need i can replace the AB with a large regolish shield extender (not enough PWG for another T2)
and then it can take:
509 EM dps
1273 explosive dps
878 kinetic dps
636 thermal dps

the AB is only used for short durations to save time on gate/target approach.
these setups cant sustain the inv field forever.
however its possible to sustain it for about an hour so who cares ?..
if u prefer more dps instead of tanking power u can replace SPR's with gyro's
