Two hundred are clearly better than one hundred. Because if your defense fails, all you have to do is crash the node... Laughing

Why do you have to make a serious thread so silly, DS? Sad

anchor as many EW arrays to the pos as you can. use ALL the cpu up. i guarantee people will just sigh and leave it alone as they lose lock every cycle Razz

serious answer: matar tower says projectiles. and we all know how us minnies like our guns. big and with a hefty damage mod.

work out how much power you've got left after putting up all the arrays you need then fill with large artillery batteries. 3-4 large arty ought to instapop an unplated cruiser.

Then some dreads warp in, you have unhardened shields, your EW modules don't work and you can't kill the dreads YARRRR!!

The two models I like are the 5 hardeners and 6+ large arttilery, or over a dozen hardeners and minimal guns.

Regardless of the number you put up, use projectiles as they get the range and rof bonus.

The best, and only way to defend a POS, is to be able to have a fleet to protect it when it comes out of reinforced. Everything you put on it is just a deterrent. Its not easy/cheap to remove a deathstar, but if someone decides it is worth the time, and isk, it can be removed.

QFT. Defenses on a POS shouldn't be used for destroying your enemy (if they're competent). They're there to give you the time to mount a counterattack to drive them off, which is where the POS defenses truly help you.

The point with the speedbump ( ECM to death POS ) is ACTIVE defense once its engaged the first time. If your company/alliance can manage an active defense the first time its attacked it can be very effective. It totally wipes out the support fleets ability to defend their attacking capital ships.

theres a channel for this... but i'd go with artillery and or lasers in whatever setup fits the most hurt.

WEB/warp scram is the key because without it they can just come and go until it dies.
They could use interceptors to attract the aggro but web stops this, also i believe the system has been changed so that the pos will target the highest threat.. to stop 500 velators and 10 ravens taking down a pos with ease....

Citadel torps are good for pwning dreads but artillery is better than missles for alpha strike... in general the first BS to warp to your pos will spontaneously combust if its fitted with arty.

hope this helps
