Are there going to be absolutely no loot in mission wrecks now?

I heard it was taken out because some 'farm' missions, if this is true..

Why don't you do something useful CCP, like do something to kill the macro miners. And instead of screwing it for alot of people because of a few 'farmers', screw those farmers for farming, not everyone.

Flame on! all..see if I give a ****

I think they just have some kinks to work out, some of which seem to be getting fixed fast, and some will probably wait for next week's patch. People were complaining earlier in the day that nothing was dropping period. Now at least some of the wrecks are dropping. I actually got a couple of good drops in a mission just now.

You know, if you keep putting variations of that at the end of all your posts, people are going to start suspecting you do care. Razz

You could at least save yourself some time and make a sig out of it. Wink

I ran a gurista extravaganza last night and looted a lot of stuff out of it, so it's there, but my gooooood how cumbersome it is now !
1.) -you check a lot of wrecks containing nothing !
2.) -you quickly loose track which wrecks you already
have checked and which not, because wrecks don't
pop.
3.) -you can't rename wrecks as you could with cans. At
least that way you could've made navigating big
wreckage fields a lot easier.

Overall completing a mission including looting takes a lot longer now and it really ticks me off. Not to mention that the LP reward for that gurista extravaganza had about HALFED !!
For now i'll share your optimism, hoping that CCP will iron these things out next week. Coz if not, mission running just has become nothing but a chore. Maybe they could color tag wrecks containing no loot. That way you'd know which wrecks you already HAVE looted and which ones contain no loot to begin with.
Time to get that salvaging skill i reckon. Hopefully wrecks WILL pop/disappear once they're both looted and salvaged.

cheers

Just to comment:

1. Wrecks do ‘pop” when salvaged.
2. Salvaging is a chore in of itself and has a range of only 5km
3. Wrecks are leaving drops know in about the same quantity as before. It just seems like they don’t since every ships has a wreck (remember that about 60% or so of old npcs did not drop cans)

Any one of these options should fix to this:

a. Don’t even show the wreck icon unless your ship is equipped with a salvager.
b. Change the icons so that “loot” and “non-loot” wrecks look different.
c. Wrecks with loot drop a loot can as well as the wreck.

It’s my impression salvaging will never be like looting. I used to fly around with 2 tractor beams on my BS and pick up all loot while fighting. Salvaging on the other hand is going to be an after – mission clean up. Where you re-fit (or use a different ship) and head out to clean up. At least that’s the way I see it at the moment.

There is loot on missions.

People farmed missions for bounties, or ores from rogue drones, so I doubt what you're saying is true.

Stuff may well still drop.. but im seeing a marked decrease in the number of loot bits i end up with after a mission now.

pre-rev it wouldnt take a huge amount of time to run around each stage of a lvl3 gurista extrav and come out with around 560m3 of loot.

now it takes absolutely ages due to everything dropping a wreck and you have to check each one - and im lucky to come out with 250m of loot.

So half the loot for twice the time.

Is salvaging supposed to replace loot as a way of gaining refinable items for minerals - or named mods?
Can you even refine salvaged stuff?
Wont the lack of decent named stuff now push demand and prices up for both named and T2 even more?

salvaged stuff is for building rigs which takes forever

It actually took me longer to loot / salvage a level 3 Gurista Extrav than to kill all the rats, including the bonus stage. There was probably about 150-200m^3 less normal loot than prior to Revelations (although difficult to tell exactly due to the varying amount of cap booster drops). Some wrecks dropped loot, some dropped salvage components, one or two might have dropped both, most dropped neither. I'd really appreciate it if they changed it so that 'empty' wrecks didn't spawn.

Wreck icons are apparently going to be modified Soon(tm) to indicate whether they've been looted or not. It would also be nice if you could 'destroy' a wreck that you have finished with, assuming you're not bothering to salvage. This would be especially useful on missions where there are (apparently) no salvage drops to be had e.g. drone missions and mercenary npcs.

BTW it is possible to warp to a wreck if it's over 150km away, so if you're looting a wreck 100km away it's quicker to head 50km in the other direction and warp back to it.

fit a tractor beam, brings stuff 20km away right to your ship... but i agree that it is confuzing sorting through wrecks when you can't name them...

good news is that this coming tueday a patch will fix some issues with wrecks like different icon for lootable/looted amd maybe wreck naming. But even without that I just make the decisionto focus on BS or BC loot and shoot the rest. And since wrecks are named after thier ship type .. shootng the small ones is easy. The likely hood that I would get a good drop from a frigate or cruiser pre revelations was low anyway.

And with the fact that ammo is half size now taking extra ammo doesn't compromise cargo space "loot and shoot" is a viable option in my book.

As for salvage .. we all know which mission give the best drops .. Some I don't choose to loot and most I won't choose to salvage .. unless I go back in a dedicated salvaging ship... 3 tractors 3 salvagers in a catalyst .. sweet.

think of it as an oportunity .. not a problem.
