The Revelation Patch notes have been posted. I don't see anything related to the voice chat features. Voice chat has also been removed from the test client. Is there any way that we can find out what happened to this feature and when we can expect to see it again?

Vivox voice chat will be added on its own in a forthcoming patch in December. This patch will be seperate from the second part of Revelations.

Who needs it anyway really, when you can use TS/Vent for free and you also wont get dropped off of TS/Vent when EVE crashes, so then if you are in an op you can tell people you crashed.

Agree here, it's just annother useless feature.

Exactly, they should be spending time fixing prevalent bugs instead of introducing features that a minority of non serious players will use.

IIRC it uses a seperate, albeit integrated program, so you can use Kali voice chat even if EVE crashes.

If its integrated into EVE and EVE CTD how can u still use it w/o EVE running?
It would have to run as its own seperate process in order for it to work if EVE crashes afaik, which im not sure how that would work, but no matter its not free and TS/Vent are.

Last I heard, it does. At least that's what I heard...

Maybe they changed that? Last time I checked it was running in the same process.

I've not checked to make sure 100% but since my firewall never asked for any persmissions for it i'd say it's either the same process or linked in someway to eve's. If it's linked then i'm sure as hell not going to use it.

Will this voice addition work as tcp/ip traffic or will it be ****ing UDP? My campus firewall blocks UDP and I've so far been unable to tunnel it.

no one says you cant still use TS/vent. for something that ppl NEED (pretty much) to run fleet ops and such, its about time it was integrated into client.

drawbacks? sure, we do live in the real world, most things have some drawbacks (such as voice going down when client does)

.....but that is FAR outshadowed by the likely upsides of increased security. I'm also quite sure the ***********s out there that try to hack/DOS attack ppl's TS servers to try and get an ingame advantage will be much less when they realize they are attacking a server that is likely monitored and defended and they may get banned from the very game they work so hard to win (at any cost)

My net experience with this?

We get into gangs, it works fairly cool, then once the fleet battle hits? DEATH...

i have to admit, after playing on the test server, the voice software seems a little "naff".
It doesn't seem that good anyway, but then when you go into fleet mode...
sweet jesus, god.... it reminds me of the time my mum parked on a hill, and the gearbox and the handbrake screwed.
she was there forever.
serves her right.
