Has anyone ver tried to run eve on the Sattelite. I know there is a lag but what I wonder is it worse than running a dial-up modem. I have the lag problems with dial up. I am wondering if the client manages most the motion on the screen. How much data is passed to the client any way. Please help me get direct way with the two way sattelite modem.

I connect right now with a 56k modem and my speed is only 28k.......ShockedMadEvil or Very Mad

I've looked at satellite options, even if it is marginally better than dialup its subject to standard satellite things. Sunspots, heavy rain, sometimes even a cloud will interrupt data transfer. Basically its only good for web browsing.

Also you may want to take note, your latency to any website/game server will be around 400-1000.

Companies such as DirectPC/StarBand have satilites orbiting 22,000 miles, data has to be sent up, back down, back up, sent down.

22,000x4 = 88,000 miles.

Travelling at the speed of light (186,000 miles sec) should take half a second or so for data to be sent round trip.

I love being technical.
