Booted up my computer today and got a helpful popup saying the free version of Grisoft's AVG is to expire in Jan 07.

Can anyone recommend another free Antivirus product?

which version do you have? cos there was a recent upgrade to 7.5 so is it just the older version that ends in january? or all of them?

it may be just that version that has its support ended in january then? there should be a patch available to update to 7.5 though?

I got this message and I am pretty sure it means they are going to discontinue v7.1 but v7.5 will still be free.

Confirmed. You have to actually download and install 7.5 - it won't autopatch - but they are keeping up support for it.

Two tips; make sure it's the free version you're downloading - it's difficult to find. And read the instructions about the upgrade install.

Theyre trying harder and harder nowadays to try and push it into obscurity and rumour without actually shutting it down...

Definite its only the old version that will stop. If you upgrade to v7.5 you ca contuinue to use it for free :D.
