I would be very handy to see what current command a drone is currently carrying out and what his target is. It get rather hard to keep track of more than four drones at a time. I am planning to go all the way with drones and drone interfacing and I see that it is getting harder and harder to keep track of them during more complicated battles. This happens even when I am mining a roid with some drones and fighting off pirates with several others.
It would help me out a lot.

Thanks for the good game and keep the content flowing.

I know what you mean. I too have had problems thinking my drones are attacking the enemy, and then to see the targets shields are not going down because my drones are too busy killing the roid I'm mining is frustrating. Only thing is, the droning interface is already cluttered badly, and by adding more to it may only worsen the problem. Perhaps you can come up with a detailed idea to line all of this out?

I do have some ideas myself to help streamline the very unfriendly drone UI in many other areas though.

First off the drone bay. There needs to be a "Launch All" button very badly. Having to individually click and launch every single drone one at a time is a very cumbersome and slow process. Not only that, but I think drones returning to the drone bay should automatically "stack" themselves by their type. The huge mess that we have now is a pain to have to go through. My point is, if we have only one kind of drone, or a bunch of different kinds of drones, being able to easily distinguish them simply by clicking the "stacks", plus combined with a "Launch All" button of those stacks, will go a long long way to streamlining the launching process. Once anyone has more than 4 drones, they will greatly appreciate these new features. I guaranteed it!

Now on to the drone control interface. It's a mess. Firstly there should be a separate stackable control window for combat drones and mining drones. Having two very different kinds of drones all clumped together in one sloppy window is unintuitive. Furthermore, the "command" button should be moved from the middle of the dropdown window to the TOP, where it is easy to access.

Also the the "gang" option button has absolutly no buisness being in the droning UI window. Get rid of it! There are plenty of other places the gang control is available to use besides there. On that same note, the "Scoup to cargo bay" button in the droning UI is also an equally usless button. We have a drone bay, why would we need to put them in our cargo bay? If a ship does not have a drone bay then it will not have a drone UI, and they are the only ones who need to scoup to cargo bay, not the droner. If a drone is damaged then should not even launch from the drone bay once it's scouped back up. Removing the gang button from the drone control window will make it a bit less cluttered. We don't need it.

On to drone status bars. The current "structure" bar in the drone UI is, you guessed it, also useless. I have yet to see the structure bar of a drone to lower at all. By the time a drone gets that low in shields and armor it's pretty much too late to be called back in time before it is destroyed. What we need is a status bar that contains everything. Shields, armor, and structure can be represented easily in one simple color coded bar for each drone.

Thank you for reading, and if you are a Dev, please put some thought into these ideas.

I have no idea why the text is so BIG, I tried to use the size tages, but I could not make them smaller. Sorry.

This would be a nice little bonus, but what I would like is to be able to select all the drones in my bay and layunch them a tonce.... having to click on each one and got through the menu each time for 4 or more drones is just annoyng....

Actually you can "select all" by clicking in the the empty drone bay space, but it is good for nothing more than arranging the drones by name and type. If drones would automatically stack themselves when they are put into the drone bay then we would have no need for arranging them. All you would have to do is right click the stack of drones, then select the launch all button, or you could select how many drones you want to launch from a numbered list with the launch all button at the very top of that list.

Enhancing the drone window to show current state is on my list of things to do.

Drones need to protect against missiles when swaming the Drone Carrier, aka. target and shoot. I know the word is Smart Bomb ;)
But smart bombs damage the drones aswell.
I know the Armarr drone carrier got the same issue as all but few Gallente ships.

I know this was working in the beta. But removed same time as the lock on missiles went away.

Well I think what drones really need are commands that give them a certain task like:

- defend my ship
- attack nearest enemy
- attack strongest enemy
- attack weakest enemy
- attack incoming missiles
- attack all missiles

I think you get the idea. What drones need are commands that enable you to pay attention to other things and not having to worry about the drones too much. The drone-interface should be made so you donīt have to do too much micro-management. You should also be able to assign groups and similar stuff to the interface. Make it so that when you press a configured key you can select your configured groups. Also give them keyboard shortcuts for the commands. This should make drones easier to control and more fun to use.

And another thing:

Drones eat way too much performance. As soon as you have several drones flying around the FPS drop bad... especially in roidbelts. Something needs to be done about this IMO.

while we're compiling a wishlist, It would be nice to have auto-deploy and auto-dock policies-- So when you come out of warp, drones automatically launch, and whenever you enter warp, your ship waits until all your drones are docked before it leaves (overridable, of course). Would greatly enhance drone combat, because much combat, unless you are guarding a static location (mining op, stargate, etc) the ship usually comes out of warp within range of the target, so launching the drones will take up time you could be harrassing the enemy ship. Having to manually launch them takes up even more time.
