and to the original poster, yes I really feel roasted by these comics. The nonexisting humour has taken away all my morale and I am now cancelling all my accounts.

I will now lock the door to the Basement (my mums) and play quake all day, where I can headshot everyone all the time and run around screaming PWNED!"

Definition of "roast": A roast is an event in which an individual is subject to publicly bearing insults, praise, outlandish true and untrue stories, and heartwarming tributes. It is seen as a great honor to be roasted, as the individual is surrounded by friends, fans, and well-wishers, who can receive some of the same treatment as well during the course of the evening. The party and presentation itself are called a roast.

Hast, take a chill, and look at the ops post for what it is, an attempt at humor, nothing more.

First of all, this is the first time I've heard this definition of "roast." It might have something to do with me using English as a second language.

Also from consulting a dictionary, only thing that came up besides cooking was:

Quote:

roast (CRITICISE)

verb {T} INFORMAL

to severely criticize or speak angrily to someone

roasting

noun {C usually singular} INFORMAL

- I got a roasting from Mum for being back late.

so where your definition came from I dont know, and I find it was a poor attempt at humour aswell. Not because I was offended, because I wasnt. I just didnt think it was funny at all Sad

Some of those are pretty good, given the circumstances (esoteric, inclusive humour. Reused another strip, etc).

I particularly like this one, simply because how the original strip works with the given subject.

Thought the one with the whip was funny , the rest were just pictures to me , as for the term roasted - just looking at the title before I clicked it I assumed it was a flame thread .

" Roasted " to me suggests burning/burnt so " BoB roasted to me looks like you somehow burnt them i.e won or beat down significantly , hurt them basically , I'll not even go into roasting though , whole different ball game Shocked

English being a second language probably would have confused you hast. I should have given examples.
A roast:
Pam Roast

Hugh Hef Roast

Dennis Leary Roast

Sorry for seeming condescending. Roasts were also quite popular in the 1960's and 70's in the USA.

Roasts are still extremely popular... just not TV specials consisting of only that. Just about every large wedding I've been to involved a roast of the groom by his best man, and they're also popular at association meetings. I'll admit I've been so steeped in that meaning of the term I was surprised when non-english speakers didn't know that, but that's my own provincial fault.

Anyway, I do hope there will be more comics to come from this war, because lets face it: There is plenty of material coming from both sides.

That was a good post, with good content criticism.

The only comment I'd make would be to explain the one about 'you ever think we might be BoB spys?' Many of the ASCN folks find that to be the funniest, but it only really works well if you were one of the 50 or so of us on TS the night we had the disruption. The quotes in the last panel are just that... quotes. They're not any kind of artistic license. That's what makes it so funny.

It is seen as a great honor to be roasted, as the individual is surrounded by friends, fans, and well-wishers, who can receive some of the same treatment as well during the course of the evening. The party and presentation itself are both referred to as a roast. The host of the event is called the roastmaster. It is also known as a burn, as one is insulted (usually a skew on what said person spoke), various peers will call "Burn!". In short, it is both the opposite and the same as a "toast".

I did not take offense and I still find them lacking in humour. Alliance politics do not concern me so I'm as neutral as one can be. I would say that one who finds these extremely funny would be the one who has a crappy sense of humour.

Each to his/her own, but if someone does not find your "jokes" funny, the only explanation isn't that they are offended coz the truth hurts them ..

There is few greater honours one would be willing to behold on their enemy then that of the roast. The OP has taken great strides to propagate respect from ASCN to BoB, take it for what it is and enjoy it and if you see fit please counter with roastsof your own (as true roasts often go both ways).

This thread is a moment where we step off the frontlines and congratulate eachother through satire, encapsulating eachothers accomplishments/shortcomings and hopefully enjoying a few fee laughs.

The OP is not seeking "constructive" criticism on the comics herein. Enjoy them for what they are, build on them and share some laughs. For neutrals, some comics may lose you in their humour, but don't be offended its simply because you weren't there on the front when it all came together.

Perhaps the thread would not be subject to misinterpretation if we had it named ASCN/BoB Roast. This Roast shows RESPECT, which i think we can all agree on some level ASCN/BoB has respect for eachother.

Cheers to friends & foes
See you on the Front

GG
