I would like to put my savings to work. Is it possible to buy a BPO or 2 and make copies to sell. It is worth the trouble to do this and if so how do you go about selling the copies and for how much. Are there other ways to safely invest idle isk to make more.

buy a popular tech I BPO
frigate...
cruiser...
battleship...

dependant on your free isk..

Reasearch the BPO to ME6 or so...

market orders for minerals...
build ships, sell ships for more than the minerals cost you...

free money... :)

It is a long term investment though...
a BS BPO costs 600 - 1 billion isk...
a BPC sells for 1.5 - 3 million each...
a BS will make you around 5 - 10 million per ship...

it is a long term investment...

Saying that, buy the right one, sell in the right place, and you will be able to make them 24/7 with minerals delivered to you for no effort...

Employ a mining corp in the area for the minerals...

Mine yourself...

Set up your own corp, employ new players, pay them market price for all mienrals mined...

Depends how much time and money you want to invest in it.

frigates are easy to make
cruisers are reasonable
on your own BS are a pain in the arse...

thanks for the info: What kind of skills do you have to have to build ships and research BPOs or even to create BPCs

It's more difficult to make "easy money" with Tech 1 blueprints than with Tech 2. With Tech 1, you have to get a feel for what sells and what doesn't really, and you'll generally compete with people with high skills already (they can manufacture ships and items with very low mineral requirements), and with already-researched blueprints (low mineral requirements again).

You can also do trading with your "idle" ISK too. It's actually hands-on, rather than "plug a blueprint in and wait a week", and there's the danger of losing your ship and cargo if you hit the wrong neighborhood, but you could probably make some money. Try to find something that sells well, or something that is cheap at a trade hub but more expensive out at the edge of Empire, or between two regions.

The skills for Blueprint research and copying are: Science, Research, Metallurgy, Laboratory Operation (optional).

The skills for manufacture are: Industry, Production Efficiency, Mass Production (optional), Supply Chain Management (optional), and I forget what extra skills are required for Tech 2 production.

The only skills you need are Science to work lab slots and Industry to work factory slots. If you wanted to build, Production Efficiency would be highly recommended, as it's nearly impossible to sell ships at a profit without it.
