I am looking to expand my skill set to being able to proficiently use the Onboard Scanner(OBS) in conjunction with probes. I understand that probes require practice. But there are some questions that I have about using the OBS. If these questions have been discussed before I apologize about the redundancy.
1) Does the OBS scan is a spherical pattern or is it based off of the direction of the scanner?
2) What are some issues with the OBS that I should be aware of prior to dropping probes?
I know that some of the info given will most likely change once Kali 1 comes out. But it will be a good platform to develop these skills. And I thank you in advance for any insight into these questions.

You'll find some very extensive guides posted around the technical forums about how to use scan probes. I don't have a link on hand, sorry, but they should be easy enough to find.

Thank you for your reply but I am trying to get a grasp of the funtionality of the on-board ship scanner, and not scan probes.
