I need to be in a lighter/faster ship than a BS for 0.0 ratting. I'm wondering if my skills are aduquate for using something like a Vexor or Brutix.

My skills include:
3.4m in gunnery, including tech 2 medium blasters and rails
1.5m in drones, including ability to field tech 2 medium drones
Tanking: Mechanic 5, hull upgrades 5, repair systems 4
Cap: energy sys. op. 5, energy mgmt. 4, controlled bursts 4
Fitting: Maxed elec/enginering, and AWU 4
Gal Cruiser 4, BC 4

I'm looking to do 2+mil Serpentis BS spawns.
Could I bring the Vexor against those spawns with these skills?
How about the Brutix?

I've heard of people using Vexors, but I'm trying to get an idea of how close I am to being able to manage that. Any pointers?

EDIT: Changed how I was asking the question to make it a bit easier for people to answer ;)

I tossed together this setup, no idea if it will be adequate. I'm not living in 0.0 yet, but I will be soon... so I'm trying to figure out a platform that will work.

Hi: 2x med nos, 3x 150mm rails with AM
Mid: AB, Med cap battery II, webber
Low: MAR II, 2x active hardeners (kinetic and thermic I guess), and something else... maybe another MAR? SAR? 400mm plate?

Again, I am not living in 0.0 yet, so I can't test this yet. I need something that I can use as a stable money making platform, because I'm sure I'm going to be losing a lot of ships down there Twisted EvilTwisted Evil

EDIT: I guess I'm a bit concerned about ammo supplies if I'm using AM in those railguns. I'll have to ship in a ton, I guess.

u can easily take down bs's with ur skills. its all about the setup

3x small 150's, 2 Med Nos
AB2, Web, Cap Recharger
MAR, 2 Active Hardeners, 800 Plate

all u gotta do is orbit a bs at 1000m's, and let ur drones do the work. If your going up against multiple bs, orbit the closet 1, and use ur nos to keep ur tank going, and send ur drones after the next bs.

If found that this setup and strat works very well against Serpentis, not sure about the other factions tho.

With your skills, it is most certainly doable - go for it!
I rat 0.0 Sanshas in my Vexor very successfully, and so far I have only 900K in drone skills, Medium
Hybrid only to 3, and Gall Cruiser to 3.
My setup:
2x Anode Ion, 2x Anode Electron (Antimatter), 1x small Nos
MWD, web, either a scram or a dampener
MAR II, 3x rat specific armor hardeners to bring resists to over 80%
(in your case, I would install 1 kinetic and 2 thermal hardeners)
5 Hobgoblin IIs, 5 Hammerhead Is (Tech 2 Hammerheads are too expensive, IMO).
This setup, as you can see, is relatively inexpensive, and does 1.9 mill Sansha BSes quite reliably.
I get close with an MWD, turn on Nos and blasters, orbit at about 600-700 m and fill them up with
AM charges. Takes some time to break the BS rat tank, but in such a close orbit the BS can't track me.
And with a small Nos and armor hardeners, tanking just one BS is very doable with this setup.
The only time I find myself in a tight place is when two BSes target and shoot at me at the same time,
before I get to orbit one of them. I also try not to engage the 3 BC 2 cruiser spawns. Otherwise, the
Vexor works great, and I have not have it blown up a single time since I moved to 0.0 about a month ago.
I want to try a Brutix soon, but I am not sure if it is even worth taking through the pipe.
Loss of a fitted Brutix would be quite detrimental financially...

I like this, I think:

Hi: 2x med nos, 3x 150mm with AM
Med: AB, named cap recharger, web
Low: MAR II, kin+therm hardener, 800mm plate

Should I avoid any 2 BS + other stuff spawns? Or are these doable with any setups?

I figure that the best strategy would be to take out the frigates and cruisers first (especially the frigates, since I will need to warp out if local jumps)...

currently i use

2x med nos 3x modal neutrons (only 200k in gunnery qq!)
1x ys-8 hydro afterburner 2x eutectic cap rechargers
1x armor repper II, 2x kinetic hardner, 1x therm hardner (all active). i rat guristas.

i got 900k in drones though with your skills... **** youll do this easier than i do.

needless to say ive only been playing about 3months and i can take on double bs spawns with 2-3 cruisers no problem. thisll be a cakewalk for you.

slight edit: the highest spawns we get are 950k bs's though i have tanked dreads easily but my dps wasnt up to par at that point havnt had a dread bs yet to test on again.

You'll soon know if a particular spawn is getting the better of you- only rarely do rats Warp Scram (and you'll soon learn which ones do), so just be prepared to warp out if you get in trouble, and you'll be fine.

Once you get there you'll be able to take them I would say, aslong as you have the t2 drones of the specific type, I've been using a similarly setup Thorax (using blasters for damage though) and the only issue I have is not tanking the damage, it's running out of cap (which your nos should solve easily). When there's a BS spawn that's a long distance away is where you will suffer, once your upclose you'll be fine, but if you could fit an mwd to get closer faster, I would think that would be great.

(Plus you have WAY more skillpoints than I do xD)

Thanks for the help, guys.

What sort of range do the BS rats have? (Serpentis here...) Are they using rail or blaster type guns?

Thanks again.

BTW, Lucifer, your sig kicks ass!

blasters, and use kinetic drones (vespas/hornets/wasps)
