Hi !
Question is staten above. I just wonder which way is the best or which works without crashes and loss of performance.
1. Double click eve icon and run from the same program
2 Install a second client on the same computer and run seperately

Thx Gus Question

You have to install a second copy (or copy the original and rename the eve.exe to something like exe2.exe)

I dont believe your frst option works.

Just take copy your original EVE directory and delete the cache sub-folder in your new version, EVE doesn't install anything into the regestry (AFAIK) so you don't need to re-install. However, I just run 2 instances of the same client and that works fine.

I run 2 clients from the same install. Main advantage is that the cache is shared so any pictures etc dont have to be generated twice, settings are keyed to the account though so you will need to set those up for each character (and you cant copy them across)

You need at least 1GB of ram (each client will use 300 meg + windows uses a bit so brings you close to 1GB)
A fast processor, ideally dual core
A fast graphics card

Just d/c the eve icon again after the first character has logged in and enter your other account information. If you have a low spec graphics card or single processor then it may get a bit stuttery but should still be playable.

If you do want to run from 2 seperate installs just copy the eve folder in the CCP folder under program files to a new location and create a shortcut to the eve.exe file in it.

That's what i do at least.

To help with performance (wich will take a slight hit running EVE twice on the same comp) i play in windowed mode and minimize the one client i am not actively using, and also have sound disabled.

That isnt true. I used to run 2 clients with just 766mb ram, 3.00 P4 and an x300

You can just run the same .EXE twice.

If you want to run multiple clients, and you're graphics card isn't up to the task, try these things:

General Tab:
- Turn off Sun occluded by ships
- Turn off trails

Graphics Tab:
- Run Widescreen mode
- Run 16 bit video
- Turn off the depth buffer

Keyboard command:
- CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E (All effects off)

If you run multiple screens, make sure that you use 'Horizontal Span' mode (NVidia/Radeon et. al all have the option), and not configured as two screens.

The EVE Website tells step-by-step instruction on how to run 2 (ir more) clients on the same machine. Its in the Test section I believe

In a nut shell, you create a new folder under a different name (like EVE2) then copy your entire original EVE folder into that, on the desktop create a shortcut to the other eve.exe

I have run 3 clients here on the same computer at the same time with no problems for hours.

Only worry you may have is if you have sound enabled on all of them, it gets kinda chaotic.

I wouldn't suggest trying 2 clients on the same machine without at least a GIG of ram, a fast hard drive and a high end video card.

Cheers
