I used to think of EVE being the wild west, but in space. If we would remove all player pirates from EVE, what kind of game would we have?

EVE would be like an old western movie without the bad guys, or the bad guys turned good. "Hey, Billy The Kid, wanna come down and help us work in the mines today? Yeah sure, thats my life dream!"

This is happening now, as we speak. People are really thinking of quiting the game. All of these restrictions CCP put in (for example how sentrys & concord work) makes the game unplayable.

Im not a pirate and Im thinking about quitting this game.

I think that if nothing is done within the next 2-3 months this game will be as good as dead in 6 months.

EVE NEEDS MORE PvP OR EVE WILL DIE !!

I'm enjoying eve more than ever. Been in since UK retail.

Never killed another player, and not had much pirate contact.

There are 2 types of MMOG players:

1)The type that thinks wealth and assets is the ultimate goal, and the way to 'beat the game'.Owning 2 or more battleships, rare items and a wallet full of isk (which just sits there, because they already have everything) is they're version of end-game eve.

2)The PvP'er.These guys generally don't give a monkeys how wealthy they are, or how big a ship they fly.No ***** envy here.(just look at Merc Frigs)
To these guys, its all about fighting other players, be it Bounty Hunting, Assasination or plain Pirate/Anti-Pirate.

The problem with eve is, type 1 outnumbers type 2 by a big amount. Most people's idea of having fun is eating rock with miner≤'s and harveys. And thats why PvP will continue to be nerfed, time and time again.Because in the long run, it will earn CCP more $$$ if type 2 leaves, and type 1 stays.

I think most type 1s want to become type 2s but they are afraid they will lose out on all the money that mining makes. Once they conquer that fear they will start to enjoy this game. I have not mined for over 2 months and very seldom do I NPC farm. And in spite of this I have made more money now then I ever will using a miner 2. Iíve looted miner 2s off people only to sell them, as they are worthless to me.

But then again there are those who enjoy mining. And we need miners because I sure as hell am not going to mine for my own minerals.

I beg to differ.

There are actually 3 types; the two you mention, and the role-players, who take delight in an unfolding storyline and the interaction of players (and only seldomly in combat). The role-players are generally less interested in racking up wealth or kills, but often have favorite ships/equipment (with senitmental value) and ongoing rivalries/grudges against certain rp opponents.

I am in this 3rd category. I love EVE for what it is - a universe of interaction and intrigue.

You need type 1 to keep the economics growing, and you need type 2 to keep people from reaching their goals and stay around in the game longer.

A game where you only make isk would be boring, the risk of losing is for everyone, no mather what way you play... and aspect why you play the game.

Without losing there would be no victory.

Too keep a game alive you need a good player base type 1 and a small player base type 2 to keep this player type 1 sharp and supporting the type 2 in gear, items and money.

NO Actually there are four types of players :)

1. The carebear bunch who like to earn and save for a rainy day. Woe-betide anyone interfering with these guys.

2. The role players who like the story and the politics etc of the game and their character developement.

3. The PvPers (and pirates) who like nothing better than a good battle.

4. And me!! :) Soul is a type all his own ha ha ha and even I dont know what that is!!

should be a type 4, eploiters, thats pirates who are giant cowerds, always run, and use exploits ccp wotn admit are exploits cuzz they just log it! (for example behind gate camping, or the war thingy). pirates are bloody fine but exploiting pirates are NOT, and since like 80% of the pirates is "exploiting" i agree pirates suck.

type 5, people who are endlessly waiting for a good PATCH. but i gues we all do ("tech 2 will be implanted very soon, in tech 3 there will be deployables" gues the only exiting thing on my list is "comming soon (tm)" (gues that means another 4 months a waitin)).

sub-type 6, people who are trying to understand ccp psychology. I mean how can anyone ignore all the posts... i think they might even beat bush at this one Cool.

I think there is plenty of PvP in EvE,but you have to be where PvP is..
you have to join a pirate Corp or a corp at war with another ,or be your own.

If you go to Stain, khanid ,curse, outer ,fountain etc..
you will find plenty of pvp,now if you stay
in empire space or other 1.0 ,it will be a lot quieter.

The sentry and police system are good, because first it protect the newbies who start and people like me who do not want to fight.

there is plenty of different things to do in EVE,if you bored with your roleplay now, just change it,but don't ask CCp to change the game for your roleplay.

Basically,

Play the game around it,
don't ask the game to play around you.
